CHANGING LANES - Tuesday, 1/31

Good morning, everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Do you like to play it safe?  Do you find comfort in predictability?  If you are you are not alone.  Most of us enjoy the comfort of knowing what comes next.  Taking the safe and predictable route can also lead to boredom.  It's like eating the same foods all the time.  Wouldn't you want to give your taste buds a treat.

Safety and predictability can also leave you wondering what you may be missing out on.  Today's quote is. "Veer from your lane - who knows what you may find."  If you are directionally challenged like I am, you've taken a wrong turn in your life. Sometimes it's called a detour and sometimes it's an actual mistake but guess what.  You learned a new route.  You saw a new way how to get somewhere and maybe, just maybe the scenery was a whole lot nicer and had it not been for that detour or mistake, you never would have seen it.

Life is like that too.  We make both right and wrong decisions.  Some we might not have liked but others we did.  When you move away from your zone of comfort, you grow.  When you challenge yourself, you give yourself the opportunity of self-discovery.  Isn't that why we are here?

Veer off the lane of predictability and into the unknown.  You may find a whole new world just waiting for you!

GUIDED Thursday

Good morning, everyone.  Happy Thursday.  We're so filled with uncertainty.  We're so sure we don't know the way.  I don't know why that is.  Actually, I think I do.  We have trust issues.  We don't trust ourselves.  We'd rather get validation from a complete stranger than trust our own inner wisdom.  How crazy is that!?

Today's quote is, "Where is the way you may ask - you're already on it."  At this very moment you may be unsure, scared, nervous, confused and stuck BUT hey, tomorrow you could feel completely different.  Tomorrow you my feel confident, excited and filled with positivity and guess what.  You might not give a hoot where the way is!

That's because nervous or confident.  Confused or certain.  Scared or excited.  You are exactly where you are meant to be following a path that was laid out just for you.  Trust yourself, your guides, your inner wisdom, trust it all.  No need to ask anyone else!

THE POWER OF BELIEVING

Good morning, everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  There is not a person on the planet who has not told a white lie.  Those are the ones that cause little or no harm, like telling your spouse, "No, you don't look fat in that."  You can even convince yourself those pants aren't tight.  They just shrunk in the wash.

When you begin a sentence with, "I can't," you have already set yourself up for failure.  If you say you can't fly, I'll agree with you.  We are not birds.  We cannot fly.  We have other powers though, like making our dreams come true.  It may take some convincing, but it can be done.

Today's quote is, "We have the power to believe everything we tell ourselves whether it is true or not."  Tell me the truth.  Or rather, tell yourself the truth.  What was the last lie you told yourself?  When was the last time you boosted yourself up rather than tearing yourself down?

It's OK to be the champion of your own life.  Would it be nice if others cheered you on?  That goes without saying but it also isn't frequent.  Rely on you!  The most important person there is and remember to speak kindly to yourself.  Whether it is true or not, we will believe it, hook, line and sinker!

SHOW OFF

Good morning and happy Thursday.  Everyone appreciates generosity.  We all love the ones who go the extra mile and give you the proverbial shirt off their back.  What we don't like is the one who brags about it telling every breathing human he no longer has a shirt.  

According to Jewish law, the highest form of giving is when it is done without the recipient knowing.  The anonymous donor is giving for the pure sake of it while the one who gives wanting his name in lights is giving for all the wrong reasons.

Today's quote is, "Generosity that comes with condition defeats the purpose of its meaning."  Giving for recognition is actually selfish.  Helping someone out just so you can say, "look what I did," the lowest form of giving.  

Generosity should come from a place of love, free from conditions and recognition.  Give because you want to, not to show the world how great you are. If that's the reason for giving, don't bother.

A VERY FINE LINE

Good morning, everyone and happy Tuesday.  Criticism and jealousy.  Have you ever thought how closely related these two are?  Think of them as family members who don't quite like each other.  You know when you're wearing something that makes you look and feel great, then someone comes along and tells you that color washes you out.  Hmmm.  

Let's say you wrote a book.  Oh you mean you self-published?  Hmmm.  What do we make of that.  So does the color really wash you out or do you look so good, you left your friend speechless.  Does it matter how a book makes its way into print?  Writing a book at all is a wonderful accomplishment.

Criticism and jealousy are very closely related is my point.  Why be jealous.  Jealousy is an emotion that I do understand but can't partake in.  We are all here trying to make a go of this life.  Be a support system for the people in your life.  Jealousy is a poison that will eat you up.  Let it go and try praising instead!

ONWARD AND FORWARD

 Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  We began this world as babies, innocent and free.  We moved up to toddlerhood, childhood, adolescence and adulthood.  It is my hope that you have wonderful memories of different stages of your life.   It is also my hope that you move forward without longing for times that no longer exist.

Today's quote is, "You can't hold on - just move on."  We can't stay 20 forever and honestly, who would want to?  It's not even about age or getting older, it's about the wisdom we gain through experiencing each and every stage of our lives.  

You can hold onto memories.  That's a great thing to hold onto.  Fun times with friends, vacations, moments, all sorts of things.  Grudges and anger?  Nothing anyone should hold onto.  Allow yourself to experience the present moment.  While we may feel anger and other unpleasant emotions, let them go.  Release them and move on.

JUST RELAX

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday.  Why is it that we feel guilty when we aren't doing something.  Why do we feel that unless we are in constant motion, we are just lazy good for nothings!  I don't have an answer.  Do you?  Let's think together.  Could it be that the phrase, "work ethic" has been drummed into our heads by our parents who drummed into their heads?  Perhaps.  

Could it be that we took that phrase literally meaning that unless we worked to exhaustion we wouldn't rise to the top?  If we work to exhaustion our bodies would certainly sink rather than rise.  Today's quote is, "Consider doing nothing as work for your soul - as nourishment and rejuvenation."  WOW!  Nothing?  Do nothing?  That goes against everything we have been taught doesn't it.  

Guess what.  You are now officially a grown up and can make your very own decisions!  Decide to nourish your soul.  Decide to rejuvenate your body, mind and spirit.  You know how?  By doing absolutely nothing at all.  By soaking in the rays of the sun or feeling a cold breeze on your cheek or like I love to do, sit with your beloved pet.  Animals can teach us so much.  Mia can sit outside for hours and she's in a better mood because of it.  

The same holds true for us.  Some of our best ideas come when we are still because when we are still, we are open to receiving.

LISTEN CLOSELY

Good morning, all.  Happy Thursday.  Words of wisdom.  So many profess to have them and oh do they want to share, telling you to do this, that and the other leaving you bewildered and wondering.  I've said this many times before and I will say it again.  All the answers lie within yourself.

Today's quote is, "The sole inhabitor of your life is you - listen and follow no one but your own intuition."  Certainly, you have heard this from me before, but it bears repeating for all you slow learners out there! Nine times out of ten we have the answers to our own questions, yet we don't trust ourselves.  

How many times have you thought if only you listened to yourself rather than the parade of people so willing to tell you exactly how you should live your life!  As the one who is living your life, you are the only one who can tell you how it should be lived.

STUFFED WITH LOVE

Good morning, everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  How did you start your day today?  Did you have a big breakfast?  A mug of coffee?   Did you start your day listing, thinking of all the things that need to get done?  Did you look in the mirror and admire yourself or find every flaw.  

As you see, there are many ways one could begin a new day.  Why is it so easy to look at things outside of ourselves to bring us joy, happiness and fulfillment.

Today's quote is, "Satiate yourself with self-love the ingredient to fill any void."  I'm serious.  I'm so serious I will repeat myself.  Satiate yourself with self-love the ingredient to fill any void.  Eating can be a way of nourishing yourself or filling an emptiness.  Same with drinking whether it is coffee or alcohol.  Self-criticism comes so easily yet it is so destructive.

You are a beautiful and wonderful human being with so much love to give, try giving it to yourself.  Self-love will truly fill any void in your life.  When you begin to love yourself, you will be all that you need.
