APPRECIATE THE ABUNDANCE IN YOUR LIFE

Good morning everyone.  Yesterday was the last Thursday of the month so today obviously is the last Friday and the beginning of a new month.  Aww!  A new beginning.  Interesting that this new beginning is also an ending as this new month will soon give way to a new year.  I promise not to perseverate on the topic of holiday gift giving and shopping and buying.

When that becomes a job along with everything else on your list, it is no longer fun to shop.  What I will say is don't let yourself get crazy.  Without knowing your bank account I would say we probably all have more than most.  Why is it that the desire for more and more and more is so prevalent in our society?

Watching the Kardashians vacation yet again in Bali and any other local and searching for that perfect outfit in a closet the size of my kitchen makes us feel like we are missing out.  That my friends is fantasy and let them live it out in peace.  Today's quote is, "Enough is when your focus is  joy for the abundance you've been blessed with without the desire for more and more and more."  You know what really bothers me?  What really bothers me is when someone cannot see what is right in front of them.  When a complete lack of gratitude is overcome with a greedy wish for more.

There will always be someone with more than you.  More money, a bigger car, a fancier house but will they make lasagna the way you do?  Will they make their partner laugh like you do?  Is the relationship they have with their children warm and loving or cold and distant?  You can't put a price on any of those things.  Of course we need money to live but at what point is it enough that you can focus on what is right in front of you.

Stop craning your neck to see who has more.  You will only get a sore neck and miss all that is right there in front of your very eyes!

Have a wonderful Friday everyone! ~Love, Amy

BE TENACIOUS - BE DETERMINED - BE TIRELESS

Good morning everyone.  It is the last Thursday in November.  Yikes!  The holiday season is clearly here and has been for some time now.  Go with the flow and don't let it stress you out!  If it does, you can always come to me for Reiki, Meditation or just send me an email if you need an ear.  I will always listen!

It's so crazy that we let fun holidays get the better of us by allowing stress and anxiety to take over.  We stress about what to cook, what gifts to buy, and how we are going to accomplish everything in time.  My advice?  Take it one day at a time.  You know it will get done.  It always does.  There is no surprise in the calendar.  It's pretty much the same every year.  Big holidays are in December which comes after November and before January.

A particular source of stress with many people is what gift to give to a special someone or friend.  I for one appreciate anything.  That's because I love to get gifts.  Who doesn't?  That's the way we all need to think.  If a gift is given with thought, it will be appreciated.  Today's quote is, "Ideas will never expire - it is your tenacity to go through with them that does."

Am I talking about ideas for gift giving?  A little bit.  There are an endless array of gifts you can give to anyone from a child of three to an adult of 96.  The real stress over ideas comes from ways to alter your life and see the changes you want to see.  How do we make that happen?  There are certainly more than one.  Ideas are infinite.  Our will sometimes is not.  Ghandi said, "Be the Change you want to see in the World."  Now seriously, do you think Ghandi came up with one idea when fighting for freedom and liberation?

I have some big balls today.  I'm comparing us to Ghandi.  No not really.  But I bet I got your attention!  Ideas are infinite.  They are numerous.  Rarely is there a single one for any situation.  We are the problem.  We get stuck and lose our drive.  If you feel yourself  beginning to sink, take a break.  Nothing wrong with that.  Sometimes you just need to recharge those old batteries and when you do the ideas will once again begin to flow.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

GRATITUDE - GIVE IT OUT EVERY DAY

Good morning everyone and a happy Wednesday to you all.  I'm going to start the morning off with a question.  When did you last show gratitude for a beautiful day?  When was the last time you thanked your coffee for tasting so good and being so strong?  Have you thanked your thermostat for regulating the temperature of your home so that when you wake up its nice and toasty?

I'm going to venture a guess and say you've not done any of it.  Every day we go about our business wondering how we're going to get through it all.  Hopefully those days are few and far between but when they do come up here is something you can do to lighten that load.

Give gratitude.  That's right.  Makes no difference if its directed to the car that didn't splash you this morning or for that promotion you just got.  Gratitude can be expressed for anything.  Today's quote is, "Gratitude is not over used - in fact it is not used nearly enough."   The simple act of showing gratitude and whispering an internal thank you is in itself gratifying.

We don't do this enough.  What we do more than anything is complain.  That comes easily and naturally.  Try your best to refrain and replace a complaint with a word of gratitude.  When your mind says, "work sucks," say, "I am blessed to have a job that pays me."   "If you ran out of milk, be grateful that the grocery store is a car ride away.

For me, I'm grateful to write this blog every day and that you all take the time to read it!
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

TURN ON YOUR LIGHT AND SHINE

Good morning everyone.  The clocks may have been set for that extra hour but it is still dark when I get up.  I honestly didn't mind walking Mia in the dark but no one asked for my opinion regarding clocks and time change.  It may be dark outside but you still turn on your light!

Today's quote is, "If the lights are off turn on your inner sparkle and shine."  Don't use the darkness as an excuse to stay in the dark yourself.  We all possess an inner light.  We just don't always let it shine.  We use the darkness as an excuse to hide from the world and from ourselves.  Don't!

Expose yourself but leave your clothes on.  Find the light within you that although may be a little dim just needs the switch turned up.  It's easy to forget how magnificent and capable we all are.  Sometimes it could be one thing that gets us in a slump we can't crawl out of.

Don't let the darkness steal your inner shine.  We all have difficult days and rough patches to muddle through but we are so much stronger than they are.  If the darkness creeps in know that it is only temporary.  Turn on your inner light.  It's time to sparkle and shine!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

MORE STRENGTH THAN YOU KNOW AND MORE POWER THAN YOU THINK

Good morning all.  Thanksgiving and the long weekend has come to an end.  A perfect warm up for the holiday season that we can officially say is upon us.  Everyone has started their holiday advertising from Starbucks to Target.  Buy, buy and buy some more is what the TV tells you to do but you do what you feel and don't let commercialism pressure you.

Why do we let the holiday season make us crazy?  It isn't worth it.  We are so busy buying and spending that we forget to enjoy the holidays for what they are which is time for friends, family and you.  We can get so much done if we don't let ourselves become frantic over gift giving.

Just think of this as one more chore to add to the list.  I know you can all do this.  Today's quote is, "Do you realize all that can be accomplished when you acknowledge your own strength and power."  Although my focus has been on gift buying, this quote is about the inner strength and power we all possess.  The power to do all that we need to and more.

We let ourselves get so overwhelmed when we should be enjoying the merriment around us.  Take a deep breath and know that it will all get done because you are capable of running a household, having a career and being a caretaker.  So what if you have to buy a few gifts.  Shop online or at a store or get a gift certificate for a Reiki session!

Don't let these things bring you down and stress you out!  Tap into your inner Superman and get the job done.  With power like that no one can stop you!

Have a wonderful Monday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THE NEED TO LOSE CONTROL BELONGS TO EVERYONE

Good morning everyone.  Still stuffed from yesterday's excess?  Can you imagine dining on a meal like Thanksgiving every day?  Even though I was full I kept going back for more because it was so delicious.  While my eating was totally out of control fresh air and a long walk is the perfect remedy to get me back on track.

This is not just a recommendation for me but for all of you who overindulged which would probably be everyone reading this.  My hope is that you all had a wonderful day with your company and that you enjoyed every bite of food.  One thing I want to tell you is not to feel the least bit guilty.  Many of you out there are devoted shake drinkers, cheese abstainers and gluten free devotees feeling as though they committed a horrible crime.

When you woke up this morning did you look like a Macy's Day balloon?  Of course you didn't.  It's OK to enthusiactically enjoy a celebration because as Scarlett O'Hara said, "tomorrow is another day."  Today's quote is, "Sometimes you need to lose control to get it back."  Can we agree that losing control over our eating is something we may all have in common?

If I were to venture a guess I would say that's true.  Even those who swear by their kale and protein powder fall off the wagon every once in a while but in order to get back on we need to know what falling off feels like.  How do we even know what control is if we never lose it.

Is there anyone out there who has never argued with their spouse?  Your laughter is audible through the computer!  I had a friend whose husband divorced her afte two children and several years of marriage.  I will never forget when with a puzzled look on her face she said to me,  "You and your husband fight and we never fought."

If you can honestly say you agree with everything your spouse says then I can honestly say I don't believe you.  You are two separate people with separate thoughts and ideas, not clones of one another.  So what if you argue or have a disagreement.  So what if that argument is out of control. It clears the air so you can find understanding with one another and move on.

Eat that dessert, roll your eyes, buy those shoes so that next time you can replace cake with an apple, an eye roll with a smile and pay off that credit card.  Now go and take that walk!

Have a wonderful Friday everyone! ~Love, Amy

LIVE IN EXCESS - THE ONLY WAY TO LIVE

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving!  For all of you who did lots of cooking over these past few days, please take some time to relax and enjoy your hard work.  That includes me too!  My children are back and ravenous as ever.  Good thing I like my kitchen!  I love Thanksgiving and all holidays that involve nothing but the people you love and good food.  Of course we all tend to eat way too much but we can rationalize that turkey day (sorry all you vegans) is but once a year.

I've heard that there can be too much of a good thing but I don't believe it.  Let's take this holiday for example.  Too much what?  Too much sparkling wine?  Too many appetizers?  Too much apple pie?  Too much love to go around?  How could there be too much of any of that?  Never enough is what I say!

Today's quote is, "Live to excess in happiness joy and whatever it is that brings you to the life you envision for yourself."  What's wrong with that.  Nothing.  The flip side of happiness and joy is misery and sadness.  Is that what you think you deserve?  I don't think anyone deserves that.  A positive person would foresee their future as filled with all the love, joy, happiness and success they can muster.  It is the inner Eyore that says we don't.  My advice is to stop listening to him.

Don't be Eyeore today or ever.  Put yourself in a positive mindset and know that overindulging in all the fun, joy, love and success that life has to offer is well deserved, warranted and essential.  Now go ahead and eat that second piece of apple pie.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone and a very Happy Thanksgiving! ~Love, Amy

VALUE YOUR TIME - LET IT NOT BE WASTED

Good morning all.  Crunch time to Thanksgiving.  If you are hosting a dinner I'm sure you are crazy busy now.  It makes no difference if you are having thirty people or ten.  You still have to shop, cook and clean.  The easy part about Thanksgiving is that there is no creativity involved.  It's the same meal for everyone but no matter how hard you wish, it won't cook itself!

Time is precious and we can all agree that there is never enough yet many of us in the desire to be a good friend get caught up in drama we don't want.  Because most of us are kind individuals and want to be helpful we put our needs aside to make room for someone else.  Well my friends, that needs to end.  It is called boundaries and we all need to have them.

Today's quote is, "When you decide your time is valuable and worth something no longer will you let it be wasted by frivolous actions of others."  What I see as frivolous may look different to you.  The point I am making is that if you don't value your time you will watch it slip away.  We should all be available for important people in our lives no matter who they are but if you are constantly being drained by nonsense that needs to end.

It is not your job to correct anyone's mistakes, nor is it your job to drop everything and babysit a friend who is self-sabotaging.  You are valuable.  Your time is valuable.  Remember that and if you forget, re-read this blog!

TIRED BODY - TIRED SOUL

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday to you all.  Did you know that when you are tired it is not just physical or even mental exhaustion but is much deeper than that.  "Today's quote is, "A tired body reflects a tired soul eager to release the past able to forge ahead fully energized to embrace this life."

I believe that to be true.  There are different ways in which we could be tired.  Physical exercise can tire us out or you could have the life sucked out of you by an energy vampire.  You know what I mean right?  Those people in your life who drain you of every ounce of energy you have for the benefit of themselves.

The tired I am talking about is more closely related to a past life kind of tired.  It is the tired you get  from repeating the same patterns and mistakes over and over again.  That is the kind of tired I am referring to which can be quite wearing on a soul.

You may have a new boyfriend or girlfriend but they are really just your ex wrapped up in a different package.  You may have a new job but it is the exact same environment.  The only thing different is the address.  You see when we don't break patterns we repeat them.

Patterns don't just appear in the people that come into our lives but in the situations we get ourselves into.  How can you not be tired!  Continuing on the same path will forever leave you wiped out until you recognize your actions.

Once you move past the past and let go of old patterns you will be able to fully embrace the life you are in now.  Release what was and welcome what is.  We all want to do that, don't you?

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

SITTING AND WAITING AND WAITING AND WAITING

Good morning everyone.  Before I have my morning coffee I have to turn on the coffee maker and wait for it to be brewed.  When I'm really tired all I can think of is that first sip as I watch the water trickle into the pot hoping it came out just right.  When you get up what is the first thing that you do after you have your coffee.  Let me guess.  You check your email.  You check to see what's new and who responded or didn't respond to your queries.  So frustrating when you don't hear back as you sit quietly channeling your inner Veruca Salt because we don't want to wait.  We want our answers NOW!

Today's quote is, "At times the most difficult job we have to do is sit and wait without expectation but patience."  In the vastness of our lives if it is only coffee we have to wait for then we will definitely be just fine.  We have more than that to wait for and not only emails either.  We have to wait for many things to come our way.

Waiting is hard.  It is just as hard for us as for children.  Waiting makes us impatient and edgy but sometimes you are not given a choice.  If waiting is difficult then learn to be patient.  I understand it is easier said than done.  Maybe that is why it is said that patience is a virtue.  One that many of us are missing.

What is even more difficult than waiting is to wait without expectation.  Hopefully that coffee came out amazing and all those emails have been answered but if those things didn't happen as you expected you will be disappointed.  When you sit with patience and release expectation disappointment is released.  What is more glorious than that!

HEAR THE CALL AND COME BACK HOME

Good morning everyone.  Ahh!  Friday!  Most of us have our work week planned well in advance.  We know where, when and what time we need to be where we must.  Weekends allow for more flexibility.  Sure, you may have chores to do, errands to catch up on but there is no set time you have to adhere to to do your laundry.

The freedom to linger over your morning coffee and indulge in a leisurly breakfast is saved for days when there is no plan in place.  Most days we are up and about with a purpose.  Our lives are very much like work.  The Universe has already laid out our path and all we need to do is follow it.

So why bother doing what we do if our path is already planned.  Because no one gives us a cheat sheet.  While it may be laid out there is still effort to be made.  The only thing that gets in the way is us.  Ourselves.  We get frustrated and disappointed when things don't work out and we depart from our desired destination.

Today's quote is, "Your path has been laid out - deviate if you must to learn and explore but find your way back when you hear the call."  Frustration is a normal part of the process.  It is often necessary to deviate from an original plan.  Its not like nothing is happening.  Along the way you will be learning and experiencing other things.

If it makes you feel good, yours truly gets frustrated too.  There are times my classes aren't full and I've had a slow week.  I wonder who is even reading these blogs.  I question if I should even be doing this but then when I think back on how I have helped people overcome stress, anxiety and heartache, I realize this is exactly what I need to be doing and that indeed this is my path.

Consider
taking a break and know that its really OK to do that.  There is no specific length of time for that break either.  Take as long as you want and as long as you need.  When you are ready to return you will feel a gentle nudge from the Universe letting you know it is time to come home and return to your path.  The one you were meant to be on all along!

SURPRISES ARE WAITING

Good morning everyone.  Today is another day for possibilities!  Is that a bit too cheerful for you at this early hour?  Well too bad because it is!  Every day that you open your eyes is a new chance for something exciting to happen.  Am I this cheerful when that alarm goes off?  That would be a no but am I aware that each and every day can be unique?  That would be a yes.

Today's quote is, "Sometimes I can't wait to see the surprises that await me."  Believe it or not its true.  Not every day of course but sometimes which is why I said so.  We should always keep our expectations high and why not?  It doesn't mean you are in for a let down if nothing happens differently on any given day but the truth is you never know.

For me, surprise comes in the form of a new Reiki client or someone deciding to try my Guided Meditation classes.  It's awesome when that happens.  Surprises don't always have to be about me either.  It could be something wonderful for a friend or family member.  It could be a snow day, a great cup of coffee or a delicious dinner.

What I'm saying is that anything could be a welcome surprise.  Be open and tell yourself, "I accept all that comes my way."  Say it with conviction and believe it to be so and sure enough, there will be a wonderful surprise headed your way!

BE UNIFIED IN LOVE FOR ALL

Good morning everyone!  Happy Wednesday.  For all the times in life that we have succeeded, we have also experienced failure.  To get to where we want to be involves work and time.  We need the willingness and tenacity to stick with our plans and goals.  Isn't it wonderful when it happens.  Anything you really want is always worth waiting for especially if we have had to struggle even a little bit.

Not one of us enjoys a struggle.  To struggle and face obstacles is frustrating but it is something we all do at one time or another.  My question to you is this.  When someone you know has achieved something they have wanted for a very long or even short time, are you truly happy for them or wishing it was you who was wearing their shoes.

We are all in this game together.  The game being life.  We all want and need someone to turn to in times of despair.  You don't have to be someone's best friend to be supportive.  It's the right thing to do!  Today's quote is, "Be unified in your love for humanity for those who struggle and succeed - there will be a time when those who succeed will also struggle."  Struggle is universal.  It is not delegated to those with blonde hair or ones who like pizza.

This is the reason all us humans need to form a unified front!  It makes no difference that someone is a banker or hair dresser or baker.  We all go through good times and bad, through struggle and success and who doesn't want that pat on the back when success knocks on your front door!  On the other hand, who doesn't want to be consoled during a rough patch.

We all want these things.  Support your friends and your loved ones but offer the same to an acquaintance.  One day that acquaintance can turn out to be your best friend!

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

INNER PEACE IS ALL YOU NEED

Good morning everyone.  I hope the message of yesterday's blog stuck with you.  Have you said and accepted praise from yourself?  If you didn't, stop reading.  Tell Eyeore to go home and give yourself a kind word.

Today's quote relates well to yesterday's.  When we cease that war within ourselves it is such a relief.  Our shoulders are no longer weighed down by the burden of negativity and doubt but replaced with calm and peace.  Today's quote is, "All the money in the world - the material possessions can never be a replacement for inner peace - for if you lack that you have nothing."

Interesting that this comes a few weeks after that $1.6 billion lottery ticket.  No I didn't win but even if I did I would still be writing my blog, having Reiki sessions, leading Guided Meditations and making dinner.  I just would.  It is all part of who I am.  I don't know who won.  I don't know if they are ecstatic or overwhelmed by this sudden burden.

After the initial, "oh wow, I never have to do anything EVER again," comes the reality that you really never do have to do anything again.  Personally I think that much money is a burden.  Now you have to do something with it.  It would be overwhelming.  You could buy anything you want except inner peace?  That can never be bought.

I'm not saying that the only way to have inner peace is to be broke.  No no.  Not at all.  What I am saying is that money cannot buy happiness no matter how much we think it would.  I am not even talking about being happy but content.  Are you content with yourself.  Can you look at a sunset or sunrise, (take your pick) and realize it is one of the most exquisite sights to witness?

Can you appreciate the crunch of leaves underfoot without thinking of your to do list?  If you can then you are getting close to what inner peace feels like.  It is the ability to treasure the small things as well as the large.  To know that the feeling from a bright sunny day will leave you with more satisfaction than another pair of shoes.

Material things can indeed bring us joy but are no match for inner peace for it is inner peace that will  satisfy your spirit and your soul.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

UNITING YOURSELF WITH YOURSELF

Good morning everyone!  How are you all on this Monday?  Today happens to be Veterans Day.  I don't think a lot of you reading this right now are veterans or served in any wars but it doesn't mean we shouldn't  honor those who did.  Whether the decision was voluntary or not it still remains one of the biggest sacrifices anyone can make.

There are times in our lives when we all are faced with difficult decisions and hard choices.  One of those decisions should be easy.  Decide to say something nice about yourself.  Admire your outfit.  Compliment your smile.  I could feel all of you cringing because that's not what we do.  We tell ourselves we look fat.  We look for something to be wrong rather than right.

Today's quote is, "End the civil war within yourself - let the side that puts you down unite with the side that gives you praise and let that side be the one who wins."  We are veterans in our own war.  The one where we find it almost impossible to shower ourselves with praise and if we do it usually comes with a side of self-deprecation.  Guilty!

I find it very difficult to both accept praise.  If you are not one of those people then congratulations and I mean that sincerely.  We work hard to be the best we can yet it is often our own selves that ruin it by putting ourselves down.  If you have accomplished something you are proud of it should be acknowledged and applauded!

Don't fight with yourself when you have achieved something even if that something is having your hair come out just the way you like it.  Any and every event carries significance if you can attach a feeling to it.  When you feel that inner Eyeore begin to emerge, stop him dead in his tracks.

Stop looking for what's wrong and see clearly all that is right.  No one should like a good fight.  Even that sentence is an oxymoron as there is no such thing.  Don't go to war with yourself.  Find that white flag and raise it high in the air.  It is finally time for a truce!

Have a wonderful Monday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THROUGH SOLITUDE - LEARN TO KNOW YOURSELF

Good morning everyone.  The last day of the work week. Some of us including myself work on Saturdays but if you love what you do, it isn't work!  Not everyone works on Saturdays.  Some of us use that day to catch up on chores inside and outside of the house.  All those things we can't get to because our day time hours are spent at our jobs.

As much as our passion drives us to continue doing what we love, we still need some down time.  We all need time to relax.  Neither body nor mind can continuosly move and think.  Sometimes I wonder if it a status thing when people say they can't relax and must always be busy.  Nonsense.  If you are one of those people is it that maybe you are afraid not just to be alone but alone with your thoughts.

Today's quote is, "Solitude is not lonliness but a chance to get acquainted with your genuine self."  It makes being alone sound so much better because it is true.  Solitude is not lonliness at all.  Solitude is time for us.  It is the time we need to think.  To work out problems.  To plan.  Or, to just be and be  yourself without having to put on any airs.

Depending upon the situation and who we are with we play pretend.  We are not the same person with our boss as we are with our spouse.  If we are sitting before a judge in court we act very differently than when we are out with our friends but if you are by yourself, there is no acting.  There is no pretend game to play because you know the real you.

If you haven't had the opportunity to be alone and seclude yourself from daily life, I highly recommend it.  Take some time this weekend to be alone and get to know the real you, your genuine wonderful self.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone! ~Love, Amy

DON'T BE DEFINED BY MISTAKES OF THE PAST

Good morning everyone.  Have you ever watched a bird in flight?  It's really a wonderful sight to behold.  Children always say they wish they could fly.  As we get older we stop verbalizing that wish and begin to acknowledge the realization that flying is something we will never be able to do.  Not physically anyway!

Birds are the ultimate signifier of freedom.  Watching them soar across the sky gives me an incredible feeling of peace and never ceases to be magical.  In this respect I wish we could all be like birds soaring with joy and determination through our lives but we don't do that.  We let old hurts get in our way.   We allow anger, resentment and  regret to stop us in our tracks.  We tighten our grip to all that does not serve us as if letting go would change us to someone we would not recognize and who is no longer familiar.

Why do we do that?   Why is it that we want to be defined by all that negativity?  How great would it be if only we could let go.  Today's quote is, "Do not let your identity be tied to past mistakes and old sorrow - you are so much more than sufferings gone by - acknowledge them and gently release them."  We all do this and why is that?

For some of us it is habit.  Again, it is what we've always done so we think to ourselves, why stop now.  For others it remains the perfect excuse and the reason we are not where we want to be. By blaming your past, it becomes your excuse.  You follow me?  We become so tied to our past mistakes and hurts that that is the only thing we identify with.  Logically we know this makes no sense but we get stuck and don't know how to let go.

Here is how to let go.  Desire!  That's right.  I know!  Sounds so simple but that is step number one.  In order to let go you need the desire to do so.  In our heart of hearts we all want what will create the best outcome for us.  By clinging to our past we will never move forward to our future and achieve all that we want for ourselves.  We know that logically but we get stuck emotionally.

Well everyone, I'm here to tell you it is high time for change and logical thinking.  Loosen that grip and let go.  Release that anger, resentment, regret and whatever else you are holding onto with a death grip.  Stretch out those fingers and let the blood flow to those white knuckles.  It may be hard at first but it is not impossible.  With desire you can do anything, even soar like an eagle!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THE VALUE IN DAILY LIVING

Good morning everyone.  Today is the middle of the week.  Wednesday is always the middle of the week.  That's how it has been set up.  Nothing new and never a surprise.  Right in between Tuesday and Thursday and guess what?  It will happen again and again and again and again.

There are other things we do over and over but it doesn't mean it isn't important.  We have to eat so we make dinner nightly.  We want friends so we brush our teeth.  The things we do may seem mundane but they also have worth.

Today's quote is, "Every day has value and meaning and importance."  Earth shattering events may not occur on a daily basis at home or at work but that does not belittle the value of the day.  Maybe you helped out a co-worker and while what you did was not a big deal for you, it was a tremendous help to them.

Maybe the coffee you prepared this morning was perfect!  Not too strong, not too weak, the exact amount of milk and the temperature was just how you like it.  Isn't that a great way to start the day! It just so happened that I made a mean cup this morning and so right there the day was off and running to a great start.

I love talking about food but let's go back to the part where I talked about helping a co-worker.  Sometimes we do things for others and don't realize the value in it.  Sometimes just a smile at someone can make all the difference in the world for that person.  It is these seemingly little things that are not so little.

Maybe a friend of yours is going through a rough patch and you allowed that person to vent and to talk.  Maybe you didn't solve their problem.  Maybe you didn't utter a word.  Maybe you just listened.  That act alone may have changed both their mood and outlook.  How can you not see value in that?  Take nothing for granted for no act is ever too small to have meaning and value!

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THE POWER OF FAITH WILL CARRY YOU THROUGH

Good morning to you all.  Today is Tuesday.  All day as they say.  Has anything been weighing heavily on your mind?  I know the week is fairly new but worries of yesterday and last week stick with us.  When you worry do you hold onto it or are you able to let it go?

Before I began meditating I was the queen of worry, able to sink into the depths of despair fairly easily.  I know!  Right?!  Me!  But as I said, that was before meditating.  This is not to say that I never worry about things.  Of course I do and you know the answer.  I'm waiting.  Right!  Because I'm human.

We as humans worry.  If you think about the state of the world there is a lot to worry about.  But ask yourself a question right this moment.  What is worrying going to do for you?  What will be accomplished by your worrying?  We all know the answer to that.  Absolutely nothing.   What is bigger than worry is faith.  The power of faith is huge.

Today's quote is, "To be consumed by worry is to release the power of faith which is so much stronger."  And let me add, SO much stronger.  Worry is what comes naturally.  It's just easier.  It's not always easy to think that everything will work out when you are in the midst of a crisis and at one time or another, we have gone through one.

In the end events take their course and everything works out the way it was meant to.  Even if something appears to be an awful result, given time, you will see that  whatever happened was for your benefit.  We also worry about the people in our lives and by that I mean our children.  Who doesn't worry about their kids?

In the book, A Manual for living comfortable in the Cosmos, Emmanuel's Book (an absolute MUST read) was a passage about faith. The passage said there is no need for worry as our souls know what to do.  You could also say what a bunch of nonsense.  Let me tell you why I agree with Emmanuel.  I agree because faith pairs perfectly with trust.  The wine and cheese of the spiritual world.

Do you trust your kids?  I mean really trust them?  Not saying they don't or won't do stupid things but a trust beyond the obvious.  Do you trust that they know and understand right from wrong and that they know their own limitations.  That is the kind of trust I am talking about.  If you trust that your children know those things then you can stop worrying and trade in that worry for faith.

The souls they have been given know their limitations. The souls they have been given know right from wrong.  Break the habit of worry because that's all it is.  A habit.  It is what we are used to.  Trade in that habit for a new one.  Faith!  Have faith that your children will make mistakes and learn from them and have faith that life will take you on a bumpy yet ultimately amazing ride!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THE DARKNESS OF SOLITUDE

Good morning everyone.  Welcome to Monday.  Weekends are so much fun I don't always want Monday.  It comes around way too soon.  Sometimes I just want to disappear.  Do you ever feel that way?  Like you just want to hide for a while?

Today's quote is, "Vanish into solitude and to the darkness - for when you emerge there will be light."  We all need alone time and quiet time but this is more than that.  Real solitude is needed in order to find ourselves.  Real solitude is needed to feel ourselves.  To hear ourselves breathe and to listen to our thoughts.

There are questions that only we know the answer to and it is in that quiet solitude that we find them.  When there are no distractions we can think more clearly and sort things out systematically.  We can figure out why something turned out the way it did or didn't.  Surrounding yourself in your own thoughts is the only way to push aside the debris and swim to clear waters.

It takes strength to disappear to that darkness but if that is what you need, pack up your thoughts and go.  When a problem has been either solved or resolved you will emerge from that dark tunnel to see the light of day, the brightest light you've ever seen.  Just bring along your sunglasses!

Have a great Monday everyone! ~Love, Amy

LIVE WHILE YOU ARE ALIVE

Good morning all.  The first Friday in November.  If you are not vegan, don't forget to order your turkey.  I always get a fresh one from Salinger's Orchards in Brewster.  Sorry if I offended anyone but I think my family would revolt if I presented them with tofurkey on a platter.

Food is no longer just food.  There are options out there that never existed such as  vegan and gluten free.   Being a vegetarian and eschewing dairy was always around but it seems that many have chosen that option as well.  Organic is very big right now and one that I try to stick with as much as possible.   Personally I would rather eat an apple without pesticides but I'm not ready to give up brie.  Why should I?  I love brie.  I also love goat cheese but it doesn't mean I am anti goat.

I had a client the other day who told me that she only used to eat vegetables steamed, ate no red meat, no cheese, no no no.  One day she had enough and simply reached her limit.  She now eats everything and enjoys it.  Now is a good time to share my quote for today which is, "The day will come when we all depart this earth - let's make sure we live while we are here."

How boring would life be if you only ate your broccoli steamed?  What if you never experienced a whoopie pie?  By the way, I make the best whoopie pies!  I'm focusing on food because I think that is a common ground we can all understand but my quote is not about food.  My quote is about life!

We all want to live long and happy lives but what does that mean?  It means to try new things, take risks, travel far and explore near.  It means to experience as much as you can.  Days turn into weeks which turn into months which turn into years.  All of a sudden you realize there are things you want to do but didn't.

There is still time.  There is always time but you are the one who needs to make it happen.  Live your life to the fullest and with the fewest regrets possible.  Don't neglect the have to's but make room for fun and adventure as much as possible.

LEARING TODAY, TOMORROW AND ALWAYS

Good morning everyone.  I'm glad it's Thursday.  I have my regular Thursday Meditation crew coming over later.  I love all my meditations but Thursdays are in my Reiki room which has awesome energy.  Mia looks forward to it as well.  She is a most willing participant and of course everyone loves my baby!

For the most part my day job is beyond boring so I'm always thankful to have something to look forward to.  This is not a complaint.  This is me stating a fact.  While at my work place, I try and make the most of it as would anyone.  Although I am out early enough, it consumes several hours of the day so when I get a break from my responsibilities, I still need to keep my mind active.

On my breaks I will read or look up something I've wanted to learn about.  It is true that you are never too old to learn.  There is a big world out there.  How can we not be curious?  Today's quote is, "Learning is a lifelong event - continuous and ongoing as no one knows it all"   Isn't that so true?

Of course there are those who THINK they know everything and if that's the plan for them, well, so be it.  Those are the ones that are stuck in their ways and will never see beyond their own hand.  That is not the way I choose to be.  I could easily look at my phone all day like so many of us do but even if I am on my phone, I enjoy looking things up, reading current events and keeping my mind occupied.

Continuous learning is the best way to open your mind and to see different perspectives.  I kid you not but I actually get excited when I find a new way to drive somewhere.  It's like a lightbulb went off and trust me when it comes to directions, that light is usually about 40 watts.

Turn on the light and turn on your mind.  Find one new thing to discover.  You will find you are more interesting to others but also to yourself!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy
