WHAT IS A COINCIDENCE BUT A FRESHLY PLANTED SEED

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Don't you love when you are thinking about someone and just that moment they text you or you run into them at some random place.  Or is it really random?  We call those events coincidences but I like to think of them mini gifts.  There must have been a reason why someone was on your mind.  Cosmically they felt the need to connect with you and so ensued a coincidence.

Today's quote is, "Coincidences are the seeds planted by the Universe to help you grow - change and even alter the course of your life."  Deep for sure but oh so true.  I'm a big believer in meant to be.  Shocker right?  Here's another story from my life.  Let me tell you how my husband and I found our house, the one and only home I have ever lived in with my family.

Years before I even met my husband I had a friend (still do) living in suburbia who I had gone to see.  I had never been there before but I found the area so comfortable and nurturing.  Visiting from the city where I was surrounded by noise and tall buildings, it was refreshing to come upon trees and endless sky.  I remember how quiet it was when I woke up the next morning.  I remember thinking to myself, "I want to live here one day."

That was it.  I said those words, meant those words, never repeated those words but the Universe has very large ears.  Years passed and I came up to this same suburb, this time with my husband and baby to see my friend's (same friend) son dressed up for a Halloween parade.  I had also started to think that it might be a good time to start looking for a house since we were ready to leave the Big Apple for good.

The real estate office we went to advertised a house on a pretty street.  A house that I was advised not to even look at.  Long story short, we ended up buying a house on the same pretty street I wanted to be, in the town where I visualized I would be living in so many years before.  Now was all that a coincidence?  Skeptics will say of course.  Those in the know will mischievously smile at the skeptics because they know the Universe hears all.  What you thought was a coincidence was the end result of that seed you planted so long ago!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

LOOK IN THE RIGHT PLACES

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  From time to time we all either misplace things or lose them altogether.  Keys are the first thing that comes to mind but I'm still looking for those sunglasses I misplaced about 15 years ago along with the 2 earrings and ankle sock.  What a wonderful surprise it would be if I found them but I don't think that will happen.

How long do you continue to search for things you know you'll never find.  You hear of found items in the least likely of places but that doesn't happen often.  I have a better chance of finding my earring if I continue looking in my closet rather than in the kitchen because that just makes no sense!

To find what you lost you need to look in the most likely of places so at least you have a shot!  Today's quote is, "Fish cannot be found in a barren sea - when searching for answers look first within yourself where your intuition holds a wealth of knowledge."   My friends, we know so much more than we let on.

That feeling you get when you walk into a room or meet someone for the first time is either positive or negative and based on nothing more than our intuition.  Do we want to stay in this room or leave?  Did we meet a new friend or not.  Intuitively we know things unspoken because we go with what we feel - that wealth of knowledge within us, the kind we never had to study for!

Never disregard that inner feeling because its usually spot on.  Its also referred to you as a gut feeling.  When that gut is screaming its not always from hunger.  Respect your feelings and respect the silent voice in your third eye center.  When glittering indigo sparkles, it is time to pay attention!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THERE IS GOOD - OPEN YOUR EYES AND EMBRACE IT

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday.  Have you ever driven into a blinding sunset when the sun was so bright your'e driving and squinting hoping not to hit the car in front of you?  Its a very dangerous time of day.  Accidents are both likely and frequent as you are literally blinded by the light.

Jealousy and envy have the same effect as a blinding sun where you cannot see anything in front of you yet you continue driving straight into that searing light.  Jealousy and envy cloud our vision so our focus is not on gratitude but what "they" have.  You know who "they" are right?  The ones who incessantly post about things.  Things being stuff because honestly that's all it is.  Stuff!  Yet so many of us want their stuff so badly we disregard what's real in our lives.

Today's quote is, "Jealousy and envy block your ability to see all that is good and wonderful in your own life."  Is this a new topic?  Hell no!  Is this an important topic?  Hell yes!  Sometimes I wonder if jealousy and envy would take center stage in our lives if it weren't for Facebook and all the fabulous vacations, houses, and well....stuff that's posted.

Who cares!  Seriously!  Who cares?  Why care so much about stuff.  Don't we all have our own?  Life is not just about stuff.  It is about the moments we have with the people we love.  It's about the trip to the mall with your daughter who has transitioned to friend.  It's about the conversations with your son who finally shares his secrets with you.  The unspoken words you share with your spouse, the one who knows you like a well read book.

You can always buy more stuff if you want to.  Another sweater, another pair of shoes, a fancier car and on and on but the real stuff - the good stuff is not stuff at all.  I don't know about you but I have all the clothes I could possibly cram into my closet but I always have room for conversation, laughter and love because that my friends is the real stuff of life.  The stuff that makes it all worthwhile!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

STRENGTH IN FORGIVENESS

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Remember when you were a little kid and you were made to apologize for something you did and then the other person, no matter what would say, "that's ok," even if their arm hurt from where you punched them, their art work was torn to shreds and you ate the last piece of chocolate cake.  The one that they were saving for later.

Simultaneously we learned to atone and forgive and at no point did we think we were giving in.  It was something that wouldn't even occur to us.  We were being taught that when you do something naughty like eating the LAST PIECE OF CAKE you apologized and no matter how badly you wanted that dessert, you found it in your heart (with some prodding) to forgive.

Today's quote is, "At no point is forgiveness weakness."  To forgive shows strength.  To forgive shows understanding even when you don't understand.  A grudge holds you hostage - forgiveness releases you from the prison of a grudge and opens your heart to release the pain.

That anger that you hold so close sends signals to rewire our brains and bodies making them more susceptible to illness and disease.  We are all well aware of what stress does to our bodies.  Anger is even worse.  There are actions that are unfathomable yet for yourself and your own physical and mental well being, forgiveness is necessary.

Never think you are caving in and crumbling when you say "I forgive you," for those three words are the strongest and most powerful ones you can ever recite.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

RIPPLES THROUGH THE UNIVERSE MEANT EXACTLY FOR YOU

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday to you.  How many of you out there are working at the same job for at least ten years?  Wait.  I have a better question.  How many of you are at the same place of employment since graduating from college.  And here's another question.  How many of you are actually working in a field that relates to your college major?  Since you can't answer me directly, (well you can by responding to this blog!) let me tell you my personal history.

I graduated college as a dance major.  Yep, I did.  Knowing that I wasn't going to be a professional dancer but rather an unemployed artist, I immediately went to graduate school and majored in another unemployable field...theatre.  Or was it really unemployable?

After a series of uneventful jobs from kitchen prep at a catering company to secretary at CBS when Mariah Carey was married to Tommy Mottola, (OMG!! I saw her!!!), I wanted something more fulfilling.  I felt an urge to make a difference while incorporating my creative side.  Lo and behold I came up with teaching!  I went back to school, got my teaching certification and jumped in with both feet.

Without boring you with the details of my entire work history I will tell you that what I thought was a useless major turned out to be exactly what helped me as a teacher.  My audience was a group of 5 and 6 year olds who needed entertainment as well as instruction. In a classroom I was able to do both.  My ability to connect with people of all ages has continued to serve me up until this very moment.

As the saying goes, this isn't my first rodeo!  I have been a teacher and healer in many lives and my vocation continues in this one.  Today's quote is, "Reverberating through the Universe are your secrets and your hopes coming back as karmic lessons and innermost desires."  While you may be unclear and unsure of your direction the Universe knows what is in your heart.

Healing was in my heart~ not written on my college diploma.  There were lessons I needed to study and learn before I could serve others.  The Universe knew that for me as well as it does for you.  Your dreams are out there and you will receive them when you are ready!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

LET GOD LEAD THE WAY

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  Whatever path you are on in your life is exactly the one meant for you.  In life there is no one size fits all.  Our interests differ, life lessons are individually designed and the pace at which we learn and move is unique to each one of us.

What is true is that we are all on a path.  What we need is the strength, faith and trust to follow the direction we are given.  Today's quote is, "Let God take over and lead you on your path."  Choose to see God as the Universe, a higher being or a beam of light.  It doesn't matter.  The only thing that matters is knowing there is a force, a positive force in your life guiding you and nudging you on your way.

Can you deviate from the path?  Of course.  In fact most of us do and that's because we are busy living and learning.  When we take what we have learned and acknowledge that invisible push we get right back on that road in the proper direction.

The most pessimistic of us all can remain as such but take a look around.  Look at a sunrise or a sunset, those orange and red colors that paint the sky. Hear the way the waves sound as they crash on the shore.  Watch a bumblebee sucking nectar from a flower and never tiring out!  After you've witnessed those wonders of nature, let me know if you still think nothing exists that is greater than us all.

My only request is that you put your faith and trust in that power that is higher than you and to know that that power will never let you down.  Take your twists, take your turns, but know in the end you will get there.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

ASSUME AND BURN

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Remember the game, Telephone?  It used to be played at parties where kids would sit in a circle and whisper something in someone's ear, then the next person would whisper what they heard in someone else's ear and so on and so on until getting back to the first person with what was supposed to be the original message.  Somehow that message would get completely mangled in the process leaving everyone in a fit of laughter.

You know when its not so funny?  When we make assumptions about what we've heard and then relay it to other people.  That is an explosion waiting to happen.  Today's quote is, "Assumptions made on hearsay ignite dangerous fires."  There are many types of people but one quickly comes to mind when reading this quote.  That type would be the "know it all."  Only someone who knows everything would be brave enough to make assumptions based on anything and everything they hear.

To some degree we all do this.  Name a topic and we can make an assumption about it.  Fat person?  Stupid and lazy.  Rich person?  Living on easy street.  Physically stunning?  Never alone on a Saturday night.  Smiling person?  Must be great to be happy all the time.  What we don't know is never on the surface but underneath.

That overweight person may be battling an illness.  The seemingly wealthy well dressed man or woman's only friend may be the salesman in a department store.  I read an article about men and women models who did indeed sit home many Saturday nights.  Why?  People were afraid to approach them.  And that happy, smiley person you see?  Perhaps a manic high.

The truth is we never know what lies behind a smile, a frown or extra pounds.  Assuming we do is wrong.  Not only is it wrong but assumptions we make and spread around could have devastating consequences.  Always always think before coming to conclusions of any sort.  Put yourself in the place of another.  We all feel pain and sadness but we can also spread joy and love and I think it is safe to say, we can all assume that's exactly what everyone needs!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

SHINING BRIGHT FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  I know its only March but stores have already begun their winter clothing sales to make room for all the pretty spring wear.  Brighter colored clothing has been stacked on shelves, hanging on hangers and drawing us in as we tire of our black winter wear.

How great does it feel when wintry dark colors are replaced by pretty pastels and bright shades of the rainbow.  Nothing like some new threads to lift our spirits but no matter how beautiful that new cotton sweater is or how great those new jeans fit, that's not what makes you beautiful.

Today's quote is, "The most beautiful side of you is inside - it is the kindness in your heart."  OMG  could I be any sappier?  Before you start rolling your eyes think about it.  Anyone can wear beautiful clothing and look great but when accompanied by resting bitch face that Chanel couture is completely overlooked.  Facial expressions are an immediate attention grabber.  If we look mean and miserable it doesn't matter what designer duds are on our backs.

A kind and compassionate heart may not show but is felt by those around you.  That's what truly makes you beautiful.  I like beautiful clothes and shoes and shoes and more shoes but beautiful is not worn or seen outside, it is inside deep within our hearts where kindness, compassion and love exist.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

KEEP AN OPEN HEART AND MIND

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  It is Tuesday right?  Of course it is.  The only people who lose track of the days are those who no longer have to report anywhere.  Those are the people who argue what day it is and never seem to get it right.  Monday?  No way.  It's Tuesday, etc. Not really a big deal or call for a major argument.

These days there is a lot more to argue about than if it is Tuesday or Wednesday.  Facebook has allowed all of us to share our expertise on just about every topic including a stranger's life.  Granted there are people who seek advice and we are more than eager to give it.  Good or bad its out there.

When you ask for advice be prepared to be irritated.  Be prepared to hear all kinds of wonderful and ridiculous things you should do to make your children eat more vegetables, get your dog to stop barking, remove gum from your hair and just about anything you can think of.  Opinions are rampant from the inane to the serious.  Politics is a hot topic and many have no fear in not only expressing their views but dissing the attitudes of another's point of view.

We can't all agree on everything but we must be civil and polite when we see or hear something we don't like.  Today's quote is, "And if I disagree with you I will still listen with a compassionate heart and an open mind and sincere respect."   Facebook has become a place where rudeness and nastiness is acceptable.  Disagreements have become heated and mean.

Our belief system stems from so many varied places therefore we arrive at conclusions based on our experiences.  Keep that in mind the next time you read a post that makes your blood boil.  All you can do is try your best to understand that it may come from a place completely foreign to you.  My quote today may have ruffled some feathers and that's perfectly OK.  I know it has been read with an open mind and a compassionate heart.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy
