KEEP SOARING BUT LAND WHERE IT FEELS RIGHT

Good morning all!  Happy Tuesday.  What are your plans for today?  Do they include working out, doing errands or nothing at all?  Whenever my day job ends for the summer, my head is filled with all the things I am going to do from organizing drawers and cabinets to taking photos of a sunrise to getting rid of clothes I never wear.  If I actually get to straightening out the linen closet I will have accomplished more than I thought possible!

Will I get to do all of the above?  Probably not but a girl can always dream!  As simple as those chores sound they sometimes get to be overwhelming and I begin to realize I set my sights way to high.  The reality is that I will get to some of those things but not all.  Today's quote is, "Set your sights on what is realistic and attainable for you in your life."

It is nice to have aspirations but keep them grounded in reality otherwise you will only be disappointed.  Although cleaning out a couple of drawers doesn't sound like a big deal, it is to me.  When I look at all the junk that awaits me I suddenly think of a million other things I would rather do, one of which includes doing nothing at all!

I know myself quite well.  I know that I will get to some of those things but not to all of them because I know my limitations.  Knowing your limitations is key because when you do you will save yourself from feelings of frustration.  It doesn't matter that my list was long.  What matters is that whatever tasks I finished, I was OK with it.  It is wonderful to have aspirations but make sure they are grounded in your reality.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

NEVER STOP LEARNING

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday!  Are you one of those people who take pleasure in learning new things or have you had enough of school?  School is not just a building.  School is everywhere.  It is the people you meet, the books you read, the recipes you create and so many other things you do.

I recently bought a book on crystals because even though I know that rose quartz is for love and selenite opens your Crown Chakra, I do not know the properties of all the crystals.  The book was a great investment because crystals help to enhance Meditation and Reiki so why wouldn't I want to know more?

We are all familiar with the phrase, "you learn something new every day."  Maybe not every day but certainly more than once a week.  Learning helps us grow even if we have gained the smallest amount of knowledge, it is something we didn't know before.

Today's quote is, "If you are perfect you have ceased to learn."  You can have perfectly straight teeth or a perfectly manicured lawn but perfect people?  They only think they exist but in reality, they don't.  Learning new things will not get you closer to perfection but it will increase your knowledge and growth and don't we all want to grow?

Being bored is our own fault.  Life is the biggest classroom there is.  Take advantage of it and make that familiar phrase come to life and learn something new every day!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

MOMENTARY HAPPINESS

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday!  Are you a shopper?  I love to shop although I don't consider myself to be one.  I have to be in the mood.  I could go months without walking into a store but when my favorite boutique puts out their SALE sign, I'm on my way!  I love picking out beautiful clothes and purchasing them at a fraction of their original cost.  I love handing over the cash in exchange for a bag filled up with the goodies I chose.

When I get home, I love to take my purchases from the bag, unwrap the tissue paper and admire my new things.  Usually the bag will sit on my bedroom floor until I find the time and room to put everything away but once I do, I often forget what I bought!  Not to say I changed my mind and no longer like my new shirts, pants or whatever else was in the bag but when it is out of sight the excitement has also dissipated.

Today's quote is, "The momentary joy a shiny object may bring will never compare to the lasting feeling of inner peace."  This is true for me and probably a lot of you reading this as well.  We love new!  We love shiny!  We love tags and ribbons and bows and things!  But all too often it becomes, "what's next?"  Even if we have purchased something we have longed for we can't seem to maintain that initial excitement.  We may have saved up for months for that designer handbag but after awhile its just another handbag.

What lasts longer than handbags, shoes and stuff is peace from within.  If you have that you just about have everything.  Things cannot replace nor create calm.  Even with new purchases we still find comfort in our favorite worn out t-shirt.  When you have inner peace you have it all and whether you are wearing a designer dress or your favorite comfy sweats, you will look fabulous!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

ACCEPTANCE AND LOVE FOR ALL

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  How are you all today?  I love sitting on my deck in the early morning hours and listening to the various forms of life.  It sounds like a jungle.  Each and every bird sounds different yet beautiful.  Each animal leaves a different footprint on the earth as they run by.  The raccoons, foxes and skunks all have feet but they are unlike each other and yes, those are but a few of the variety of life that prance through my yard.

Do you think they make fun of each other?  Do you think the raccoon says to the skunk, "you smell!"  Do you think the fox thinks he is better than the other two because he is fast?  This sounds ridiculous doesn't it but this is what we humans do to each other.  We criticize and judge all the time and yet the ones that walk on all fours are more respectful of one another.  If one critter is stronger and faster, the other critter simply moves aside to let them through.  The ability to discriminate does not make us superior as much as arrogant.

Today's quote is, "To love on the God like plane is to show acceptance for all - we are not God but indeed we can continue to rise."  That is the job of God.  To love everyone no matter who they are.  To love everyone no matter what they have done.  To love everyone if they are fast or slow or strong or weak.  Is it fair to say that we are not on that vibration so we'll continue to judge?  You can say what you want but what is it that makes someone better than someone else?

Is it education, the house you live in, the job you have?  None of those things make anyone better than anyone else, in fact we all know that more education does not guarantee intelligence!    Lack of judgement and true acceptance is what makes you a kinder soul and I will tell you that for us humans that can be hard AF!  Ooooo!  First time dropping a bomb in a blog but I do believe it is warranted!

Yea!  Judgment.  We do it all the time and Virgo that I am, it is my nature to be both critical and self-critical.  I don't deny who I am but when I feel judgement rise within me I slow down, take a breath and look at a situation from a different angle.  Rather than criticize I try and understand.  I will never be on that God like plane but I can certainly aspire to be higher and higher every single day.  So can you!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! Love, Amy

DON'T VEER OFF THE ROAD

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  We are smack in the middle of July.  I'm loving these long days and warm nights.  I love getting up early and listening to the birds, the insects and the lawnmowers.  I like evening walks with Mia when the sun has gone down and invited the fireflies to come out.  Nothing says summer to me more than the sight of flashing fireflies.

Although I am not at my day job, I have not been counting blades of grass  either.  Nope!  Not having to be somewhere has not meant that I have nothing to do. The great part about having time to do what  you want to is both simple and complicated.  When you don't have to be somewhere you can linger over your coffee and put off things till later.

Ah ha!  I said it.  Put things off till later.  That is where it gets sticky.  Are those the things that don't matter if they get done immediately or tomorrow or are you just avoiding and delaying a process?  Today's quote is "Distractions are excuses we use to veer off our path."  This is for everyone!  Anything can be a distraction.

Think of all the things you were going to do but the phone rang.  You went to the fridge.  You cleaned out your drawer.  Wait!  You never clean out your drawer BUT at that moment it was easier to look at old papers than sit down and do what you really needed to.  Distractions come in many forms even us ourselves as we find numerous ways to run in the opposite direction.

If you have a goal don't use a beautiful day as a reason to abandon that goal.  If your path is straight ahead, don't make the turn.  And whatever you do, don't make excuses for why you are not where you want to be.  Remember we are all in control of ourselves.  Move from the passenger side of the seat and get behind that steering wheel straight ahead on your goal down destination highway!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

WALKING SIDE BY SIDE

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  I can remember when my kids were little.  My older son would always run ahead of us so he could be first.  Of course he would eventually stop and we would all be walking together.  Such is true in life isn't it.  We all get there but it is more fun when we get there in the company of others.

Today's quote is, "No need to run ahead - you will still get there by walking side by side."  Unless there is a prize involved, who cares if you get there first?  You might trip if you run but if you are accompanied on your journey there will be someone to help you up, besides it makes it so much nicer.  I'm speaking of emotional accompaniment as well which is even more important than the physical.

Its OK to be competitive if that is your nature but being first doesn't mean better.  It means you got there sooner.  Walk fast, walk slow and enjoy the company as you walk together.

Have a great Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

Good morning all.  Happy Tuesday.  Are you a loyal friend?  The kind that is there for someone no matter what is asked of you?  Having such busy lives it is not always easy to drop everything and run but when someone matters to us I think it is safe to say we do what we can.  How do you handle the friend who doesn't just need you but sucks you dry.  The one filled with drama who perceives life as a giant fiasco.  We've all had those and some of us still do.

It is time to let go for this is no longer a friend but an albatross.  Today's quote is, "Release those who drag you into their abyss."  For those type of people no amount of support or sympathy is enough.  You are only good to them when you are in that hole so they can stand on your shoulders and jump out.  That is not a friend.  That is an energy vampire.

Friends are there to provide support.  To be an ear.  To give advice when asked.  Our job is to reciprocate.  When it becomes both lopsided and one sided it is time for us to rethink that relationship.  And please please don't feel guilty!  Just because someone has been in your life for many years does not mean they get to abuse you and it also does not mean you have to continue to be on the receiving end of that abuse.  You can let go.  Not only can you, you should.  Boundaries can be difficult to create but when your sanity is involved it is time to be a quick learner!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THE IMPRINT OF YOUR ANCESTORS

Good morning everyone!  Happy Wednesday!  What fabulous plans do you have for tomorrow? Do you even have plans or are you just going to travel with the breeze.  So nice that most everyone will have a four day weekend.  I always remember July 4th as being so special.  It was the only day you could watch a firework display.  I loved fireworks when I was little and I still love them.  They represent summer and my love for the season!

I wonder what it is that I love so much about fireworks.  Is it the crackle when they go off?  Is it the colors and the way they appear as if they are spilling out of the sky like liquid over the top of a glass?  Who knows.  Through all my lifetimes it is possible that I loved this light show.  What else can you learn from your past?  EVERYTHING!

Today's quote is, "Gather strength from those who came before you - your ancestors who have left their imprint upon you so that you may learn and grow."  Certainly there must have been someone in my past who adored shiny lights and loud sounds.  Did it teach me something?  Perhaps not to fear unexpected noises and sparkles pouring down like rain from a night sky.  Never underestimate those two things.  Mia is terrified of both.

More than an ability to tolerate light and sound, think of the knowledge gained from those who were around before your time.  Think of difficult times they may have gone through and how they survived.  Just that sheer knowledge alone is enough to garner strength from.  Any one of your ancestors who walked the earth before you has left a part of themselves to you as a remembrance and a gift, be it their strength, their knowledge or their experience.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone and a wonderful 4th of July! ~Love, Amy

FOLLOWING THE SIGNS TO OUR DESTINY

Good morning everyone!  Happy Monday.  How often do you go into a room only to forget why you went there and what you went there for?  I do that too.  No it does not mean you are losing your mind.  It means you have too much on your mind!  For a brief moment you stand there and then it comes to you as you remember the reason why you are where you are.

Our lives can be the same way.  We travel to places and are sometimes unsure of why we are there.  It is because we were meant to be there perhaps to discover something about ourselves or to learn.  Today's quote is, "Destiny is a road traveled together or alone but reached either way."   We all have a place where we are meant to be.  Some of us will take longer to get there than others and some of us will travel in pairs or threes but rest assured we will find that road.

Does it matter how long it takes?  Absolutely not.  Just know that destiny can be changed and shaped according to the streets and roads we take.  Some say then that is not destiny but I say it is.  It is your destiny to change what was supposed to be.  There are a million ways you could alter your path from something as big as what college or career you chose to looking down instead of looking up.

That in itself is your destiny.  The destiny to change.  Think of it like the weather.  You made plans for a sunny day but suddenly it rained.  Your plans are now revised and not only are they better,  you've had an awesome time!

Have a wonderful Monday everyone! ~Love, Amy
