WHEN MAKING A CHOICE - CHOOSE BIG

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  The world is our oyster.  That means that we can do whatever we want.  Those oysters have the life!  My next go round I want to be one.  No not really.  I like to travel and I don't think oysters do much traveling.

Honestly I never understood that phrase but what I do know is that we get to make choices in our lives.  We make great choices and really really bad ones.  Good or bad, we hopefully learned something from every action we have taken.

When you think about your life did you ever stop to say I hope things don't work out for me.  Maybe not consciously but our subconscious minds take a trip to negativity all too often.  We put ourselves in small boxes and never step outside.  We take the safe route and don't bother to explore.  Why think small when you can think big?

Today's quote is, "Thinking small and thinking big are choices we get to make - which one will resonate with you."  Stop selling yourself short!  Stop thinking that you don't deserve to be happy because that's what it comes down to.  We think small because we can't fathom having all the happiness we want as if there isn't enough to go around.

My friends, I am here to tell you that happiness abounds.  Abundance abounds.  Joy is everywhere!  I know what the problem is.  You are stuck in your old mindset.  Time to move on and out of your own way.  Time to move on to happiness, abundance and joy.  Time to start thinking in ways you may never have thought before.

I know.  I was there.  Thinking small got me on a dead end street to nowhere but when I made the left out of negativity and changed my thinking the world opened up and guess what?  I'm nowhere near finished!  If I can do it certainly you can.  The choice is yours!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE - Tuesday, 7/28

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  By nature I am a worrier. Meditation has helped me adjust that nature to one which is calmer and more trusting.  The way I view things is with a clear eye and a relaxed mind. I trust that whatever is broken will be fixed.

Everything gets fixed.  It might cause disruption to your routine and your wallet but nothing is worth getting an ulcer over.  Can you imagine getting an ulcer from worrying?  Worrying and stress have the ability to compromise your immune system making you susceptible to a variety of illnesses.

On a cloudy day do you question the existence of the sun?  We may say to ourselves facetiously that we will never feel those rays again but we know we will.  Accept every day for what it brings even if it brings a slight annoyance.

A few months ago my water wasn't coming out of the faucets.  It turned out to be an easy fix and thankfully not too costly either.  It gave me an opportunity to be thankful for something we take for granted.  A running faucet with water to shower with, to clean vegetables with and pour into Mia's bowl.  In the end everything was fine but even when it wasn't, it was!

Today's quote is, "It is not that it will be OK - it is OK."   Panic and worry fill your mind with all sorts of horrible scenarios.  We always seem to go to the worst place we can rather than stopping to take a breath and give ourselves words of encouragement.  Next time your mind is travelling on that road, just stop.  Take a deep breath and know everything will be OK because it already is!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

KINDNESS RULES

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  I love holidays.  They seem to bring out the best in everyone.  When we know a holiday is approaching our demeanor changes knowing that we will be having fun and spending time with those we adore.

Lately many celebratory days have sprouted up on Facebook, ones that I never heard of like Sibling day, Daughter's day, Son's day, National Dog Day! All these crazy days that didn't exist when I was a kid.

You know what day I find troublesome?  National Inclusion Day.  That's a day created by schools to include kids who are different.  For a day.  One and done.  Seriously?  One day to be nice to someone you've ignored most of the year?

Today's quote is, "Kindness is not an occasion."  No it is not.  Are we grumpy sometimes?  Sure we are.  No one walks around with a perpetual smile on their face but good mood or bad mood, if you bump into someone you say excuse me.  If someone's arms are full, you hold the door open.  Dropped your keys?  Hopefully the person standing behind you will pick them up.

Kindness does not have to be a grandiose gesture.  Kindness is a good morning nod.  An inquiry about your day.  Sending a text just to say hello.  Kindness is not a holiday.  It is a way of being.  Be kind to everyone, everyday because kindness is not an occasion.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

GIVING THANKS TO IT ALL

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  When things go smoothly how happy are we?  Its great when everything goes according to plan.  Makes giving gratitude a snap!  "Thank you for this beautiful day," "Thank you for my avocado toast," "Thank you for the extra sleep!"

Remember the first time you had your heart broken and you thought the world would end?  Gratitude was probably not the first word that came to mind.  The last time you had a horrible nasty cold did you offer up thanks to the snot gods?  I imagine the answer is no.

Every relationship teaches us something and when it is over we understand more about ourselves, the person we were with or both.  Having a cold is never fun but it usually comes on when we are over taxing ourselves and doing too much.  It is a call to slow down and for that you can be thankful.

A few years ago I decided it was time to re-do my disgustingly stained basement carpet.  I had the room measured on a Sunday and was ready to call the installer on Monday only to find that over night the room had flooded.  A pipe had burst and water was seeping everywhere.  Everything had to be moved, the carpet had to be ripped up and the one time play room was mess.

This was also the last summer I would have children living home because my youngest two were about to leave for college.  All of a sudden I had an AHA moment.  This was the disaster I needed but didn't know!  The legos and blocks were taken out, the carpet was replaced and Buddhas, salt lamps and crystals were brought in, thus my Reiki space was born.

Today's quote is, "Thank you pain and suffering - thank you heartache and upset - thank you chaos and catastrophe - thank you peace and calm - thank you love and joy - I've lived - I've learned - I continue."

A disaster in your life might be a blessing in disguise.  Give thanks for it all, the good the bad and the ugly.  There is always a reason and in the end it might be better than you ever could have imagined.  Remember, the sourest lemons make the sweetest lemonade.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THE EXISTENCE OF MIRACLES

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday to you.  What did the tooth fairy give you in exchange for a tooth?  I used to get a quarter.  Back in the dark ages you could buy a lot of gum for twenty five cents so I was very happy.  Even more exciting than getting that silver coin was the anticipation of knowing I would go to sleep and wake up with a surprise underneath my pillow.

Somewhere along the way I grew up and knew that the tooth fairy was either my mom or dad.  Its kind of sad when we find out the truth.  Sadder still is when we feel there are no surprises left but I can tell you with certainty that so many surprises await you!  Just be open to receive them.

Today's quote is, "Once you believed in the tooth fairy - find that child within you - the one who believed in miracles and tell her that miracles can happen."  The truth had to come out at some point.  So what if there is no tooth fairy or pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

We are witnesses to miracles every day.  When was the last time you saw a sunrise or sunset?  If that isn't confirmation of a miracle I don't know what is.  When you wake up look to the Universe and ask what miracles will be brought your way.

It might be a cool rain on a hot day, watching seagulls on the beach or seeing your hard work come to fruition when you thought it was only a dream.  Miracles are all around us.  See them, feel them and know that with diligence you can create them.  Don't feel like creating today, then go outside and find one!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

STRENGTH BEYOND MEASURE

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Did you go to work this morning?  Most of us need to work so that we can feed ourselves, have a place to live and take care of necessities.  It is also important to reward ourselves every now and again.  I have a weakness for shoes and therefore have a closet full of them.

I try not to get carried away with things and possessions but once in a while I spot a heel that would look spectacular on my foot, on sale of course!  Think about your possessions.  What is the one you treasure most?  Its not the one you think.  Its not the one you even consider.  The possession you need to treasure most is your Will, the one that gets you through the hardest times imaginable and never lets you give up.

Today's quote is, "Will is your strongest possession."  Was I right or was I right!  Our will is what keeps us in forward motion.  How else could an actor go on audition after audition with the potential of facing constant rejection?  It is the hope that this one will be the one and if it isn't it is the Will that accompanies them on to the next.

Think of the hardest thing you ever had to do and think if giving up would have been easier, but you didn't give up did you.  You kept going because giving up could never be an option.  You didn't give up because desire and Will took over.  There are tough days.  And guess what.  There will be more tough days ahead, but you are stronger than any of the toughest days and the darkest hours.

Buy new shoes, a cute tank top, a sparkly pair of earrings but know those things pale in comparison to the greatest possession you have...your Will!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

WHEN EGO AND SOUL ARE ONE - Thursday, 7/9

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  How do you begin your day?  Are you a fan of routine or is every day different?  During the school year when I am at my day job my mornings are predictable.  I like predictability especially at 4:30 a.m.  The afternoons are different depending upon what I have after work.  Sometimes clients, sometimes errands sometimes nothing.  I am more apt to better handle a surprise in the afternoon rather than in the morning when I'm rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.

There is one thing that I do every single day whether I am preparing for my day job or my summer meditation class and that is, I pray.  I give gratitude for my blessings and the abundance I receive daily.  And by the way abundance comes in many forms.  For me it is not just more clients and filled classes but abundance is also a sunny day, the cacophony of sounds at daybreak, the cool shade from a tree, a text from a friend.  I could keep going.

I bet these things would bring a smile to your face as well.  Today's quote is, "In prayer we unite with the divine creating unity with our ego and soul."  This is exactly what prayer does.  It takes our soul, it takes our ego and melds them together as one.  This doesn't happen just for me but for all of us.  Praying and giving gratitude are synonymous with each other for they are both ways in which we thank God, the Universe, Jesus, The Creator, whoever you choose to pray to.  It doesn't matter because the message is the same: giving thanks.

This is the time to reel in your ego and let it connect with your soul and feel the energy of the divine within you.  Is that a perfect way to start your day or what!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

LET THE SUN SHINE - Tuesday - 7/7

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  I'm still pretty fresh into my glorious summer.  It's only been a few weeks since my day job ended and just not being there puts me in an awesome mood.  There are many things that affect our state of mind and even though it might be hard to rise above, your inner strength is stronger than any challenge.

Today's quote is, "Be the sun in a storm - the rain in a drought - the strength to endure adversity is within each and every one of us."  Challenges are nothing new.  We face them everyday.  The small ones are annoying (running out of stamps) and the big ones could be devastating (company cuts) but through it all we push forward.

It isn't always easy and I get that.  I really do.  I have days just like everyone else where nothing seems to go the way we want it to and curling up in a ball under our bed sheets is the best option for the day.  At some point though we do have to resurface.

There will be storms outside and inside but don't let them sweep you away.  Stand your ground against adversity.  Find your reserve of fortitude and let the sun shine upon you no matter what is going on around you.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

CHANGE YOUR MINDSET - Thursday, 7/2

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!  Do you remember the day you took your first step?  I don't either.  What I can say with certainty is that I probably fell a lot but was undeterred.  I can't say I know how much thinking we did when we learned to walk.  I would say determination had far more to do with that incredible feet!  No pun intended.

What if we approached every dream and desire we have with more determination and less thought.  Not to say we shouldn't think before we act but sometimes the more we think about doing something, the easier it is to talk ourselves out of it.

All our insecurities start to bubble up to the surface causing us to hesitate, giving more time for doubt to take over, allowing ourselves to shrug our shoulders and give compensation to our thoughts by saying it would never have worked out anyway.

Phooey to that!  Today's quote is, "Anything and everything is possible - do your part and make it happen."  It comes down to determination.  Creating a life you want is hard work, no doubt about it.  You must be willing to be an active participant in your life, not just watch it go by.  Ask yourself three important questions.  1.  Is it worth it?  2. Am I willing to put in the effort?  3.  How badly do I want change?  If the answers are yes, yes and soooooo badly, then you are on your way!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy
