OBSERVING YOUR ANGER

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  When my first born was little he absolutely loved animals.  Not only did he love them but he knew all of them from the common to the exotic.  One of the fondest memories I have is my son's first trip to the Bronx Zoo.  While I am not a proponent of animals in cages it was fun seeing his reaction to emus and hippos.

The reptile and amphibian house was also a big hit.  Like most little boys, he loved snakes and frogs.  My arms would get tired holding him up so he could stare at them in pure delight and wonder but when a snake lunged forward he would practically climb on my head.

Have you ever seen a snake lurch forward?  Its pretty scary.  That's what we look like when we are angry.  We lunge towards our opponent baring our fangs ready to strike but instead of striking we need to stop and take a breath.

Today's quote is, "When anger strikes do not strike back - it is a human emotion - one of many to be acknowledged, observed and released."  As children we are introduced to happy and sad before getting acquainted with sullen, depressed, miserable, lonely, angry, heartbroken, etc. etc.  In any given day we go through a myriad of emotions.

It is perfectly human to want to react when we are struck by certain emotions but sometimes it is best to stop and think if a reaction is truly warranted.  If someone is angry with us reacting angrily with them becomes a continuous cycle that never resolves anything.  Within us is a basket full of emotions.  Choose them wisely and let them go.  We all have them but we all don't have to be them!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

ITS ON YOU AND NO ONE ELSE

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Did you ever sip your coffee and spill it on yourself?  Of course you did.  Who hasn't?  Accidents happen.  No one to blame.  It just happened.  There are times when things just don't happen.  There are times when things have a disastrous end because of what we did in the beginning and the middle.  Learning to take responsibility for our actions is imperative so that we understand the outcome.

Blame is the easy way out and unfortunately the preferred route many take but it is impossible to think that in life's blunders, you had absolutely no input.

Today's quote is, "Remember it was you who had the final say in all your actions."  We have the ability to say yes or no.  We have the ability to stop and to go.  We are thinking beings who make multiple decisions.  Some good, some not so much but if we do indeed make bad decisions we need to remember that WE were the ones who made them.

Owning up to our mistakes is not always easy.  We feel humiliated and defeated and have a really hard time admitting that we caused our own personal disasters.  The only way to avoid the next one is to stop and think and learn from previous mistakes.  If we don't learn from our past actions we will continue down the same road.

Live, learn and keep on learning but leave out blame.  If you have to blame anyone, blame yourself and no one else!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THE POWER WITHIN

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  So much happened in the last few months.  We had  plenty of time to reflect on the course of our lives.  Rather than going on automatic pilot everything came to a halt.  Working from home became the norm as did meetings and classes on zoom.

Change came globally and we were all part of it.  The positive outcome was the strength we realized we had contained in our very core.  Today's quote is, "The power to change is there - find  your strength - find your courage - get ready and go."

I have told you all of my ineptitude in the world of technology yet there I was forced to do classes via zoom, video taping meditations and navigating IGTV.  Did I want to do this?  Not really but in order to help those in need, this was what I needed to do.

As the one giving advice it was finally me who needed to heed my words.  I found the courage and strength to lift the resistance I had and forged ahead.  You have it, I have it, we all have it.  The power to change anything we want is there.  Sometimes we want to and sometimes we are forced to.  Either way, power lives in our being.  On your mark, get set, go!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone!~Love, Amy

MATCHING VIBRATIONS - Tuesday, 8/18

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Sit up straight and tall, there's something you need to hear.  You are deserving of everything you want!  Did that statement take you by surprise?  If it did it is because in your heart you don't believe you are worthy.  Without uttering a single word the Universe hears the perennial chatter in your mind that says I'll never get what I want.  This that or the other will never happen to me, it will only happen to them.  Well guess what!  You are also "them."

Today's quote is, "The Universe will match your vibrations - keep them high and receive the abundance you deserve."  Sometimes its not so easy to keep up that positive mojo.  I totally get it.  Mishap after mishap can zap that positive energy right out of you but mishaps happen.  Appointments get missed.  Milk spills.

What you can do is make a new appointment and get a sponge.  Don't let a setback take the wind out of your sails.  Every once in a while we love a good bitch session with our bestie but when that bitch session becomes constant it is damaging to both of you as it can become an endless cycle of negativity.

For every negative thing you think, try and think of something positive.  My house is a mess but I have a home.  I didn't like my breakfast but I had something to eat.  Its raining but I have an umbrella.  Do your best to keep those vibrations high and there will be no limit to the abundance you receive, the abundance you deserve!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

FIND YOUR COURAGE - Thursday, 8/13

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  When was the last time you did something completely out of character for yourself?  It takes courage to do something extreme or completely foreign to you which is why we rarely stray from our comfort zone.  Let's face it.  We like our comfort zone.  An adventure here and there might be fun but we are creatures of habit who mostly enjoy the status quo.

Even though we might be bored and find ourselves daydreaming more than usual we still find the status quo to be easier than voyaging into the unknown.  When we do find ourselves wanting to get on that ship it is because as easy as it is to mindlessly go with the flow boredom starts creeping in.

Bored as we may be we wait for the right time to make a change but let me let you in on a little secret.  There is no right time.  There is only time and this is the time to reach into luminous yellow for that inner strength I know you all possess.

Today's quote is, "The meaning of courage is when you are terrified but jump with both feet not knowing where you will land."  I can promise you this.  You will land somewhere and wherever that somewhere is you will learn from it and it will give you the courage to try again.

Ready to make a change?  Go for it.  Scary?  Nerve wracking? Unpredictable?  Yes, yes and yes but it sure beats boredom, daydreaming and wondering what if!  No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater (who would do that anyway!).  Take it slow but do it.  Be the master of your destiny.  My support is with you always because I know you can do it!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

ONLY THINGS GET LOST - Tuesday, 8/11

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday to you all.  A very long time ago I found a pair of designer sunglasses.  I don't recall where exactly it was that I found them but I do recall my excitement when I spotted them.  I knew they were an expensive brand but they were beautiful and looked great on me.

I had them for quite some time and then one day as I was getting all three of my toddlers ready for a car ride they disappeared.  JUST. LIKE. THAT.  Having three toddlers will do that to you.  I was lucky I left the house wearing matching shoes.

I never did find them.  Losing things bothers me.  I consider myself to be very organized where everything in my home has a place.  Keys are left on the mail table.  Reading glasses next to the toaster oven.  Spare house key under the.....I'm not going to tell you but yes, the spare key has its own place too.

Things can be lost but have you ever felt lost yourself?  Wondering which direction to take and what road to go on?  At one time or another we have all felt that way.  That is the process called life.  Today's quote is, "Lost does not exist you are always somewhere."

You may not have found your way but you are not lost.  There are those who at five years old know they want to be a doctor.  I was not that five year old.  There are those m who enter college knowing what they will major in.  I was not one of those.  There are those who know where exactly what field they will pursue immediately after graduation.  I was not one of those.

After college I went to graduate school because I had no idea what I wanted to do.  After graduate school I spent ten months on a Kibbutz in Israel as a way of procrastinating the job search.  Upon my return I worked as a secretary, an arts administrator and a caterer.  Not seeing a future in any of those professions I worked for a temp agency and as a substitute teacher.

Fast forward many years later I found my calling.  The above may look like a short sentence but what you cannot see are the years it took to get me to where I am today.

Wherever you are at the moment is exactly where you are meant to be.  You many still be searching but never are you lost!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

NEVER EVER COMPARE - Thursday, 8/6

Good Morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  They say you can't compare apples and oranges and you really can't.  They are fruit but that's where the similarities end.  Dogs and cats are both animals but that is also the only similarity between the two.  Similar yet completely different.  So why do we compare?

When we make comparisons we are really saying what is better and turning our focus to what we would rather have.  We may look at someone with a big house and all of a sudden we no longer appreciate our own house.  We may see what appears to be a glamorous career and think how dull and boring it is to go to our jobs day after day.

The worst comparisons we make is when we compare ourselves to other people.  The only thing about us and someone else is that we are all people but oh how different we are!  Today's quote is, "If you must compare - compare yourself to who you used to be not anyone else."

To date I've written almost two thousand quotes and even they cannot compare to each other.  This particular quote is not just a gem but a diamond.  Stop grabbing your love handles and looking at the model on the cover of Vogue.  You have nothing in common except that you are both people.

Each one of us is a unique being and a rough diamond.  It takes a lot of polishing before we shine.  Look at who you were ten years ago, five years ago, six months ago, last week and yesterday.  If you must compare then look at the person you were when you were trying to figure it out.

Compare yourself to that person only and never ever to anyone else!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

NO SPACE FOR HATE - Tuesday, 8/4

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  I recently did some research on the human heart and found out that a woman's heart weighs about eight ounces or half a pound while a man's heart weighs about ten ounces, a bit more than half a pound.

Our human hearts weigh less than a loaf of bread yet it keeps us alive with a perennial beat.  Green and pink are the colors associated with the heart chakra.  It is hard to be angry when you visualize shamrock green and bubble gum pink.  In such a small organ as the heart how could there be room for anything other than love?

In today's world we are seeing people so consumed by anger and hate they are forgetting that a heart is there to keep you alive but also to spread love and compassion.  Today's quote is, "What a burden it must be to hold a space for hate in your heart."

Hate is a huge burden often accompanied by anger, jealousy and fear.  Imagine all that squeezed into eight ounces.  I've  eliminated the very word from my vocabulary even if I am talking about a food I despise.  My least favorite food is broccolini but who am I to sprinkle hate over a defenseless vegetable.

The very word "hate" creates discomfort in your entire body and sends negativity coursing through your veins.  Choose different vocabulary.  Despise, don't care for, don't like, not a fan of....There are so many ways to express your displeasure.  In comparison to the many organs in your body the heart is small.  Leave out hate for which there is no room, but rather fill it with love and as the awesome singer Lenny Kravitz wrote, let love rule!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy
