SAVING HUMANITY

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Less than a year ago, our world as we knew it went through some really drastic changes.  We experienced sickness and turmoil.  We experienced sickness in the physical sense from an illness called COVID19 and from one that has been festering in our society and all societies called racism.

We went through a tsunami of change but one that was so desperately needed.  COVID19 may come and go and we will hopefully recover.  Racism is unlike COVID19 or the common cold.  It doesn't go away on its own.  There is a need to know why it is there in the first place before we can get rid of it.

Today's quote is, "Accepting differences should be our common denominator for without that humanity will be on the brink of extinction."  We are all made in the image of God, so it is said.  If that is the case then where does hate originate?  Where does it come from and why does it spread?  To create a human being we are all given a heart, lungs, spleen, intestines, arms, legs, etc.  We have not been given hate.

When we understand that we pray differently, eat different foods, celebrate different occasions and have different skin tones we will understand that we all have lungs to breathe, eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to love, only then we will leave hate behind.

We have so much more in common than we don't.  Choose to see the good that is within your neighbor next door and the stranger you never met.  Let's accept, embrace and learn from what makes us different.  Let's let that be the common denominator once and for all.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

BE STILL

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  If you are reading this right now, stop.  Stop for a moment and when you come back let me know how you feel.  Well?  What was it like being absolutely still for a moment?  Was it hard?  Was it easy?  Did you like it?

We know busy.  We know chaos.  We know stress and anxiety but we don't know stillness.  Busy is not an excuse.  What are we afraid of?  Today's quote is, "There is sweetness in stillness - be still long enough - feel it and know it."

Meditation is the ultimate way to be still but guess what.  You don't have to meditate if you aren't ready.  You could sit in your favorite chair and stare out the window.  You could have your morning coffee at the kitchen table without your phone!  You could sit up in bed when you wake up and let your feet dangle for just a moment.

There are many ways we can be still.  We just have to want to be still.  I'll admit meditating was hard for me but the more I did it the easier it became.  When I first started it was only for ten minutes.  Really!  That was it.  Ten minutes.  Sometimes those ten minutes were the longest ones of the day but I stuck with it.

Ten minutes turned into twenty and my day isn't the same without those twenty minutes of stillness and silence.  Please don't tell me you don't have time because I will tell you what you don't have time for: stress, anxiety and chaos.  Find the time for stillness and silence and I promise in no time, the sweetness will follow!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

LEAVE SELF-PITY OUT

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  What is it that you like to indulge in.  Is it dessert?  Is it your passion for knitting or cooking or gardening?  Is travel your thing?  When we are able to live our lives the way we want and pursue what brings us joy then why not indulge!

What happens when things don't go your way or turn out like you hoped and imagined.  Do you get sad?  Who wouldn't.  Disappointed?  Obviously.  The question is do you wallow in your sadness and disappointment to where you can't move forward?   Do you scrub sorrow down your arms and into your very being?

Move yourself away from yourself!  Does that make sense?  Skootch over and get our of your way.   Do something nice for a friend, a loved one or a total stranger.  Today's quote is, "Indulge in compassion - it is far more rewarding than self pity."  The days of me, myself and I are gone.

The best way to improve your mood is to change your focus on something other than yourself.  Knowing that you are responsible for creating happiness for another human being brings an indescribable joy, one that is far more gratifying than wallowing in self pity.  Stretch that amygdala and exercise that prefrontal cortex of yours.

Self pity zaps you of energy and desire while a random act of kindness lights your soul and wouldn't you rather live in light?  I would!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

WHAT'S IT WORTH

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday my friends.  Right this moment I am eating a Perfect Bar.  Yep, that's the name.  It is an absolutely delicious protein bar made with a bunch of natural ingredients including peanut butter, chocolate chips and just the right amount of sea salt.  It makes me so happy but in about a minute (I eat fast), it will be chewed, swallowed and gone along with my happiness.

Are you the type that holds onto anger long after the argument is over?  If you do did you ever stop to think why and in what way it served you?  Today's quote is, "Contemplate which emotion you attach to a situation and wonder is it worth it."  Human beings exhibit a range of emotions on a daily basis.  If you held onto every one of them imagine what your blood pressure would be.

Emotions should and need to be acknowledged.  It is extremely important but there is a difference between acknowledging them and being them.  Things will make you angry, happy, sad, ecstatic and irritated but leave the labels on your clothing, not in your mind.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

RISE ABOVE

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  One of my favorite things about summer is being able to wear open toed shoes.  While I do love my boots, I miss being able to slip my feet into my flip flops.  They are probably the most comfortable shoes I own.

It is very important to have footwear that is comfortable and allows for easy movement.  There are a lot of things worse than foot pain but its hard to walk when your feet hurt!

Today's quote is,"The unencumbered will rise to the top while those in led boots will sink to the bottom."  We've all lived through pain, hurt, failures and struggles but if we allow ourselves to succumb to what was, we can never rise.  Releasing the pain of the past is hard but marinating in it will cause you to drown.

Let go of old wounds.  Stop blaming others for how you were treated, wronged or mislead.  Its over and let it be over.  Why relive misery?  Why choose vengeance when you can choose forgiveness, releasing yourself from self-punishment.  Besides, those led boots leave nasty blisters!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

PUT AN END TO SUFFERING - Thursday, 11/5

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  As human beings, we have many things in common.  We like to think we are so different from each other but in reality we all want to be safe, secure, loved, prosperous and happy.  Not one of us wishes for sadness but on occasion we find ourselves in that place.  No one likes being angry but sometimes that emotion gets the better of us and while suffering on any level is certainly not desirable, we find that we suffer when we let our emotions take hold.

Today's quote is, "Suffering is the great equalizer among us all but does it have to be."  When we are sad, we suffer.  When we are angry, we suffer.  Expectation and anticipation can lead to suffering when the desired outcomes fails.  The amount of money in one's bank account does not protect you from suffering.

Some of us were raised in loving households while others found themselves in the most abusive of situations leaving an innocent victim to be both child and to self-parent.  It is difficult to understand why the Universe would put any child in such a home but it happens.

Those of us raised in enviable households can still find a friend in misery.  It is ultimately up to us to put an end to suffering by being our own protector, nurturer, friend and champion.  There are those brought into this world in the most horrific circumstances yet rise above while others simply cannot or don't know how.
Acknowledge the existence of pain and suffering but don't become life long friends.  Let joy overshadow pain.  Let happiness be stronger than misery and put a permanent end to all suffering.  It may not be easy but it certainly is a much more desirable way to live.

Have a wonderful day everyone! ~Love, Amy

DOESN'T MATTER HOW YOU GET THERE

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Are you bold or are you timid?  Maybe you are in between.  Are you a blind follower or do you prefer to lead?  We are different and we act differently depending on the situation.

How have you handled your journey so far?  The journey that has taken you from childhood to adolescence and adulthood?  I don't know about you but I'm certainly not done with my travels and am willing to keep on going.

Today's quote is, "Hold the ladder -  steady the boat - grip the wheel and take the journey wherever it may lead."  Part of the fun of life is not knowing where it will take you.  Sure we begin with a direction but encounter detours along the way.  Why panic?  Sometimes the unknown road leads you down a prettier path.

There is fear in the unknown.  We as a species prefer to be in control and to know what comes next but our plans may or may not coincide with ones the Universe has in mind for us.  I say just go with it.  If you are a leader, try being a follower and if you are a follower then keep going!  Either way you won't be disappointed.  Life can be fun and exciting but you are the one who needs to allow for both fun and excitement.

Grip that wheel and enjoy the ride!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy
