DON'T BE A KNOW IT ALL

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday.  I have a survey for you.  The "topper" or the "know it all?"  Which one irritates you more?  That's a hard one right!?  While a "topper" can certainly be annoying the "know it all" is the winner for me.

The "know it all" knows it all.  There is nothing you can teach them and nothing they can learn.  Quite sad actually.  One of the greatest things in life is the ability to acquire new knowledge by being open to learning new things.

Truly sad that not everyone shares that sentiment.  My perception is that a "know it all" is a very insecure person who needs to feel important and the way in which they do this is to fake it and if you fake it with authority, rarely are you questioned.  However, they are still the losers.

Today's quote is, "If you don't know stop pretending you do - trade false boasting for an opportunity to learn and acquire new knowledge."  I don't understand why anyone would pretend to be knowledgeable about something they really have no expertise in yet people do it all the time.

If you partake in that behavior, STOP!  It doesn't make you look smarter.  In fact you miss an opportunity for growth.  One thing I will say for sure.  I will never grow taller but I can grow smarter and so can you!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

SEIZE THE DAY

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  Did you start your day with gratitude today?  Honestly I don't know anyone who is grateful when their alarm goes off.  It is probably one of the most unwelcome sounds we hear but when you do throw off those covers and plant your feet on the floor do you allow the morning light to greet you or do you look down?

The first thing I do after turning my alarm off is look outside to see what kind of day it is.  Sunny, cloudy, rainy, in truth it really doesn't matter.  What matters is that this day is brand new.

Today's quote is, "Such a gift is a rising sun and a brand new day - seize each moment - this is  your chance to begin again."  We are too caught up in ourselves to recognize a new beginning even though it happens day after day.  Our minds have already told us to embrace the same old.

Daily life is often routine.  Get up, go to work, run some errands, go home, have dinner, go to bed and when tomorrow comes, repeat but I know there are ideas swimming in your head that you are waiting for just the right moment to act upon.

The problem is we wait for tomorrow because tomorrow will always be there.  Simultaneously that is both a good and bad thing.  Yes there will be more tomorrows but which one will you choose?  How many tomorrows will pass you by before you decide which tomorrow will be your new beginning?  That is entirely up to you.

Seize the day my friends.  Rub that sleep out of your eyes and greet the day with a warm embrace.  Realize how lucky you are because every day is a brand new day~one where you get to begin all over again!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

LOVE YOURESELF - HEAL YOURSELF

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday.  There are two kinds of pain we experience, emotional and physical.  Depending on what is wrong with us, once we seek out the proper professionals we can take care of our bad back, bad knees or sore muscles.

How do you handle emotional pain?  The kind that requires more than a band aid and bacitracin.  What do you do when you are sad?  Although it is not good to wallow in the past, old wounds and emotional pain take time to heal.  Is there a proper amount of time?  Only you would know.

Today's quote is, "Tend to your wounds - to past pain and sadness - give yourself love and time to heal for when you do you will find a strength within you and a rebirth of your spirit and soul."  When we are crippled by emotional pain we need not go back in time to what we should have done or should have said.  In the moment of heart break, melancholy and grief, what is needed is love and care.  Love and care for ourselves.

We nurture relationships, our children and even our plants but for some reason we leave ourselves out.  If we are not properly nurtured, what good are we to others?  For emotional strength and well being, we need to prioritize our needs and if that means putting yourself first on the list then that is what you need to do!

Never dismiss your grief and sadness.  Sit with it and give yourself all the time and love you need to heal.  Know that in time you will heal not just your mind but your spirit and soul and once again, you will be whole.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

A SQAURE PEG IN A ROUND BOX

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  I love shoes but sometimes I have a hard time finding ones that fit exactly the way I like.  I don't have a weird size or strange feet but I am neither an exact full or half size so depending upon the shoe, it may or may not fit to my liking.

So many things say "one size fits all," but its usually not the case.  What fits one person to a T might be either a little loose or too big for someone else.  Unless I'm wearing sweat pants I like things that both fit and flatter.

We are all not five feet, two inches tall.  If we were, then the tall shop wouldn't exist.  Lane Bryant would be out of business and the petit section in Ann Taylor would be gone.  We are all different and unique beings.

Today's quote is, "If you put yourself in a box you will discover that you are not square."  Don't try and squeeze yourself into something that doesn't fit whether it is clothing, shoes, or your future.  We hold onto things we were told as a child and then try to mold ourselves into that shape whether we fit or not, whether we are comfortable or not, whether we want to be there or not.

Time to think for yourself.  Leave your childhood behind and forget what you were told.  Allow your wings to spread and let yourself fly.  Last I looked, wings are definitely not square!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

TOO MANY TO COUNT

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday.  All at once it seems like yesterday and forever that I have moved from the city and lived in the country.  Time has a way of doing that.  I have vivid memories of moving day, crying when I left my apartment in the city and crying again when I arrived on a rainy day to my new house.

Over time I grew to love my very new and different environment.  For the first time I was able to see an unobscured sky filled with more stars than I had seen in years!  What a difference 47 miles makes.  Staring into a starry night brings you back to childhood when you (and you know you did this) tried to count every star in the sky.

Looking up into a dark night illuminated by stars makes you think that anything is possible.  Anything!  And the best part is that no one ever said, "no you can't."  Today's quote is, "Now one has ever said there are too many stars in the sky."  Of course not!  Who would say such a thing.

We don't need an outsider to tell us what we already tell ourselves which is, "we can't," "it won't happen for me," etc. etc.  As children we were awestruck by the magnificence of the milky way and viscerally felt all the possibilities.

What happened?  We were given limits and we accepted them.  Silly us!  Release yourself from limitations.  Know that as there are endless stars in the sky there are possibilities that you never even thought of!  Let nothing stop you, least of all yourself!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

WALKING WITH ANGELS

Good morning all!  Happy Thursday.  Have you ever fallen and seemingly out of the blue, someone is right next to you to help you up?  Have you ever been really down and gotten a text that immediately changed your mood meter?   No matter what has happened in my day, my four legged furry friend greets me excitedly with her tail furiously wagging and somehow anger, sadness, frustration and any problem I may have had dissipates into thin air.

If you ask the question, "what is an angel?" the answer might be a small little cherub with wings that lives in heaven.  While that might be the perfect Sunday School answer it isn't the only answer.  Today's quote is, "We walk with angels every day - we just might not see their wings."

Angels are part of our daily life.  They are the stranger offering a friendly smile, the person on the grocery store line with a full cart noticing your single item and letting you cut in front, the kid working in the ice cream store giving you your fourth taste of ice cream because you can't decide what flavor you like best.

A real heart looks nothing like a valentine, real heroes don't wear capes and true angels don't have wings.  Leave your preconceived notions in kindergarten.  That blob in your chest pumps life throughout your body and knows when true love has touched it.  The real heroes in this world are ordinary humans who care about their fellow man.  Angels?  They are the ones that make us laugh when we are sad, bring us joy when we can't find it ourselves and have the patience of, well, a saint!  We are surrounded by angels all the time~they just don't always wear wings.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

JUST SAY THANK YOU

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday.  When was the last time someone told you how wonderful you were?  Did you say thank you or did you look at your feet?  Praise is something we have a hard time with.  Why do we have so much trouble valuing ourselves and recognizing our worth.  Why can't we just say thank you?

Today's quote is, "Accept praise with a humble heart."  When our children were little we praised them for taking their first steps.  As they got older we praised them for their artistic scribbles, the check pluses on their homework, how tall they've gotten and every little thing they did.

Teen years brought self consciousness, young adulthood brought self doubt and adulthood brought self deprecation.  What happened from childhood to teens that created a steady downhill slide in seeing ourselves as wonderful beings?

If you are being praised, accept it!  If someone is telling you, you are wonderful or what you created is wonderful or your meal was fantastic, say thank you.  When we are humble we recognize our human frailties and inadequacies but that doesn't mean we cannot be proud of our accomplishments.

The next time you are told how great you are~accept it, smile and say thank you!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday to you all.  How good does the sun feel on your back when there is a chill in the air?  How great does a cool breeze feel on a hot day?  How is it that these things happen just when we need them.

Today's quote is, "When the sun kisses your face and a breeze brushes your cheeks God is gracing you with his presence."  Nature has to be one of God's greatest gifts.  The trees, the ocean, the mountains, the blue sky!  All of it!  Absolutely magnificent.

Whether you are a believer or not, God is always around you.  God is Jesus, Buddha, Allah, Jehovah, Jah, or simply a higher being.  Man created buildings but God created the space for them.  You cannot deny the beauty of rivers and streams and deserts and plains.

When beauty like that takes your breath away you have to know that a higher power is responsible.  Don't question it~be grateful for it.  Know that the rain in a drought, stars shining bright and lightening flashing in the sky is God saying hello.

Acknowledge his presence as he acknowledges yours.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

NOTHING REMAINS

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday.  Yes its Tuesday so make the most of it.  Before you know it it will be Wednesday then Thursday then the whole thing starts again!  The cup of coffee you had last Friday is a distant memory if you can remember it at all!  The anger you had last Saturday over something you can no longer recall is long gone.  Emotions that upset us are no fun to be locked into but still they need recognition.

Today's quote is, "Impermanence is all that is permanent - emotions are fleeting - be in each and every moment because they do not last."  Would it be nice to live in a state of permanent bliss or wouldn't it?  Sadness, anger, loneliness are uncomfortable and difficult to be in but if it weren't for them how would we know happiness, joy and love?

The best thing about any emotion is that they are not ever lasting.  They are here to remind us we are feeling beings.  Take yourself back to a time of incredible emotional pain.  I know, not the most pleasant thing to be asked to do but just for a moment be in that place.  Now remember a time when you were overwhelmed with joy.  Much for fun right?

Both of these times are no longer.  Both of these times are but distant memories but how great is it that pain doesn't last.  Of course joy would be the preferred emotion to be in but if we didn't feel the pain of sadness, how would we appreciate happiness and love?

Allow yourself to be bathed in every emotion that washes over you.  They are impermanent, they are fleeting and they do not last!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy
