LET LOVE BE THE WORD - Thursday, 12/23

 Good morning, everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Why do we always feel we need to fill silence with words.  I love silence but some find it uncomfortable.  Some prefer a good conversation.  Silence is a different kind of conversation.

Today's quote is, "In the presence of love words are not needed."  In the company of those most familiar to us we can easily sit quietly simply enjoying their attendance but when we are in the company of new friends and acquaintances, we feel the need to fill up that space with words.  

We can certainly feel love with many people whether they are in our inner circle or not.  You can sense when someone has an open heart, one that is willing to be shared.  Use words to convey meaning, feeling and thought and sprinkle them around when necessary.  Words are not there to fill up space.  Let that space be filled with love instead.

THE DAILY CHECK

 Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Have you ever been reprimanded?  Doesn't matter who did the reprimanding.  I despise that word.  It immediately makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up and try and protect myself via defensive speak.  How can you not get defensive if someone is verbally bashing you.

The one who reprimanding can do this two ways.  It can be done with a gentle hand and a soft touch or it can be done in a way to show you literally, "whos boss!"

Today's quote is, "Observe you ego daily so that it does not overpower you."  It is unfortunate when a person in a position of power uses that power to intimidate and belittle.  In reality that person is not powerful but insecure.  In reality that person can only feel powerful by trying to take someone else's power away and we all know that no one can do that unless of course you grant them permission.  

Listen to the words coming from your mouth.  Listen to the thoughts entering your mind.  See and hear with purity and leave your ego out of it.

EMBRACING LIFE

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  When you cut yourself, bacitracin and a band aid will do the trick.  A hot bath is great for sore muscles.  Quiet time is healing when you feel overwhelmed.  The pain we cannot see, the invisible pain of sadness, sorrow, disappointment, etc. is the uninvited guest into your world at various times in your life.  

Today's quote is, "Caress your wounds - give them love - embrace every ache and pain - remember they all added to your growth."  Whether you wanted them or not they exist.  Instead of being angry and irritated understand that many times these unwanted emotions and experiences appear to teach us something even if it is how to deal with adversity.

How great would life be without any turbulence but that's not how it goes.  Life is a rollercoaster ride and we are here to learn and experience it all.

SHOES THAT DON'T FIT

Good morning, everyone and happy Tuesday.  Throughout our lives we have had many jobs, relationships, friendships and experiences.  Rarely is anyone in a job for the long haul anymore as happiness has become a priority.  While people crave connection, they are no longer willing to put time into meaningless relationships of any kind.

Today's quote is, "Who said you have to fit in."  Our teen years are spent trying to fit in and be like everyone else but as we mature, we realize being true to who we are is far more important.  There is nothing wrong with trying to fit in.  It is a normal part of growth but to continue to try and fit in in every situation stunts your own.

If a situation doesn't ring true to you, it's not that you don't fit in, it's that you weren't meant to be there.

SILENCE IS GOLDEN

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Several movies have been make where the main character can read the minds of others.  While most of us are not mind readers we certainly can read expressions.  Facial expressions show a range of emotions eliminating the need to utter a solitary word.  Many times that is preferable to what might be said.

Today's quote is, "Not every word needs to be spoken."  In this age of oversharing we don't always need to share.  We are told to speak our minds but not to think before doing so.  Words can be used for support and comfort but can also be used for advice no one wants to hear.

True friends can speak without words.  Parents can talk to their children without any movement from their lips.  Know when to speak and when to sit in silence.  Sometimes it is the silence that is the most powerful of sounds.

I WILL SURVIVE

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Will this be a happy Tuesday for you or is there something you are dreading?  That's a pretty heavy thought so early in the morning but every day is different for everyone.  Just another boring day can be preferable to an unexpected jolt.  Its amazing how we can get through most anything for inside all of us lies a tremendous amount of strength.

Today's quote is, "We are all survivors."  Life can throw some really fast hard balls, ones we are not prepared to catch but somehow we are able to leap into the air and grab them.  While it may hurt and cause tremendous pain, time begins to heal the wounds so that we may go on living even if it was nothing like before.

You never know what it means to survive unless you have been in a devastating situation that makes you wonder if you even want to.  Trust me.  Life is a mosaic.  There can be sadness, heartache and gut wrenching pain but also joy, love, happiness and peace. We have survived so much because we can and because we are all survivors.

WHAT BRINGS THE MOST JOY

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  As the seasons change and the holidays approach, store windows are packed with goodies that call out to our inner consumer.  Clothing that will make us feel our best, table settings to rival Martha Stewart and all the other must haves that will make our lives complete.  Will it really make our lives complete or will that feeling of a new dress disappear as soon as it is back in the closet.

Today's quote is, "Objects of desire bring excitement and thrills but nothing compares to the contentment of inner peace and joy."  I love the holidays.  What I really mean is I love the idea of the holidays and the festivities leading up to them no matter what you celebrate.  The very word holidays is all encompassing.  

What happens when the holidays are over.  What happens when that shiny new toy begins to tarnish?  What happens when we step on the scale and regret that jelly donut?  Yes the holidays are wonderful but the best feeling of all is inner peace and contentment.  It is something that can last long after those high  heels go back in the box.  

Enjoy the holidays, the glitter the glamour and all the rest but when it is over return to the feelings of peace an ordinary day can bring.

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Nothing happens by itself, not even a hurricane.  Action causes a reaction and depending upon the reaction you want you have to take a specific measure.  If only we could be like Samantha Stevens and twitch our little noses to make things happen.  Btw, you do know who Samantha Stevens is, I hope!

Today's quote is, "Action is what lets the if onlys win."  If only!  What a statement.  How many times have you said that to yourself?  I know I have.  The only way to get rid of the "if onlys" is to take a chance and act.  

Life is fun and wonderful and hopefully for all of us, it is also long.  Don't sit back and think about the what ifs.  Be a doer, be a mover and be a shaker!  It is your life and you are here to make the most of it!

TO CHANGE OR NOT

 Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Our day is filled with decisions from the moment we wake up.  Everything from the insignificant to the dramatic.  Change is part of that decision making process.  To change or not to change?  Only we know the answer.  

Today's quote is, "To make a change or not is an equally strong decision - listen carefully to your intuition."  Some of us prefer things just as they are while others desire something new and different.  Whatever road you choose is still a road decided.  Your intuition plays a key role in everything you do and if it doesn't it means you aren't listening.  

That uncomfortable feeling in your gut is telling you something and your job is to figure out what exactly it is saying.  We may have lots of questions but the answers lie within.  Let your intuition guide you to the changes you need to make or to what needs to remain as is.

INNER PEACE EQUALS JOY

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  When we have gone through a stressful situation it can really take a toll on our bodies and minds.  We feel depleted of energy both physically and mentally.  There's nothing like that sigh of relief when everything works out.

Today's quote is, "Unlimited is the amount of joy received from inner peace."  Emotions are wide and varied and are a part of our existence.  Learning to manage them takes time and lots of it!  When we do finally release stress and anxiety that peaceful feeling within us is indescribable.  

Is it possible to have a life without stress?  Absolutely not!  Meditation definitely helps but unless you are dead, you will have thoughts running through your mind.  It comes down to managing those thoughts and feelings and not letting them rule you.

When you reach that state of relaxation and inner peace there is nothing quite like it!

RELEASE THE GREEN EYED MONSTER

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Instagram has recently been accused of contributing to teenage depression.  Let's face it.  Our inner teenager is alive and well in all of us especially when we look at social media.  Look at all those people having fun!  How come I'm not having so much fun?  Look at all the places everyone is going and I'm just happy to be paying my bills.  How sweet!  Look how in love everyone is!  Does this sound familiar?  Have you had this conversation in your mind?

Whether what we see is true or not has no bearing on our lives.  Not everyone is having fun every minute of every day.  That fabulous trip you see posted could have taken months of saving.  Those people that are so in love?  Who knows the trials and tribulations they already went through.  Why do these posts make us feel envious?   Why can't we be happy for someone else?

Jealousy is just as damaging as hate.  They are emotions that cause internal damage as one begins to find fault in what they are doing wrong.  Turn on the off switch to jealousy and see how much better you begin to feel.

Today's quote is, "Don't expect a jealous person to find joy in your happiness when they can't find joy in their own."  Some people find it so hard to be truly happy for someone but the truth is you never know what someone else's life is like.  You don't know the struggles, sadness and upsets in a friend's life let alone someone you barely know on Facebook!

Sadness, happiness, joy, misery, etc. etc. etc. are all part of life.  Be happy for someone else because we all want people to be happy for us!

CHANGE IT UP

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.   Chaos in our world is nothing new.  It happens on both a global and personal level but when it is personal we feel it a whole lot more.  Sometimes it is a signal from the Universe to change the status quo and move out of the rut you don't even know you are in.

Today's quote is, "When conditions for change seem less than ideal that may actually be the ideal time for change."  The hardest thing we can do is to change and that can apply to anything from the breakfast you eat, to the way you dress, to the route you take to work and just about anything you can think of.  Change your life?  NO WAY!  I'm happy in my misery.  WHAT?  

Most of us would prefer to be miserable rather than take steps to alter our situations.  I remember a particularly awful year at my day job.  I worked with an extremely difficult child and equally difficult parent.  When the time came to request who to work with the following year I actually asked to be paired with the same child rather than take the opportunity to move to another school.  

New time, new building, new people, new everything but all I thought of was what if it was terrible, not what if it could be the best change I could make!  When you view change as a positive instead of a potential negative it makes it a lot easier.  Is it easy?  Not always but you never know the rewards you receive until you make that move!

KEEPING STANDARDS

 Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  A level of quality or attainment is also known as a standard.  When we think of the word standard, quality comes to mind.  We can say, "I have high standards," but what does that actually mean?  It means that when you go to a restaurant you expect it to be clean, the staff to be courteous and the food to be delicious.  Who would willingly sit down in an establishment with roaches running around the floor?

Yes, that is an extreme example.  I suppose if one is hungry enough those high standards might drop down a tad.  Most of us were taught to work hard, try hard and to always do

our best.  We were taught manners and to be polite.  These days it seems like hard work is subjective.  Manners and respect for others seems to have vanished.  Does that mean we should follow along?

Today's quote is, "In the absence of standards we accept mediocrity from ourselves and everyone else."  Society has changed so much and not necessarily for the better.  If you're reading this then I know you also look at social media.  It literally sickens me the way strangers can "talk" to strangers.  Everyone wants to be heard but no one is willing to listen and if a disagreement occurs, nasty words are typed with abandon.  

We are better than that.  Why sink when you can rise?  It is just as easy to be kind as to be cruel.  Being cruel hurts your heart and the hearts of others.  Keep your standards high in everything you do.  Not only will you feel good but so will those around you.

RESPECT YOURSELF

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  So many things we say we would never do but there we are doing them.  Have you ever apologized for something you didn't do?  Have you ever swallowed your pride but would rather have choked?  Life tells us to suck it up cause that's the way it is.  

Don't think I haven't been there.  Who hasn't said yes when they wanted to say no.  Who has kept their lips sealed when they wanted to scream.  There comes a time when the answer must be no and your thoughts, opinions and voice must be heard.

Today's quote is, "Never compromise on self-respect."  There comes a time when enough is enough and we can no longer allow our blood pressure to soar.  That's when we know that ship has sailed be it a job,  relationship,  friendship or present situation.  You gotta do what you gotta do but only you know when you have had enough.  Part of loving yourself is respecting yourself and that is one area in life that cannot be compromised!

THE MAGIC OF A DAY

 Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Every day can be looked upon differently.  Will today be the same as yesterday.  Will you begin Monday only to be waiting for Friday?  What if you decided that Monday will be magical and that Friday could take its time?  I love surprises and the best thing about surprises is that they come unannounced.

Today's quote is, "Every day has its own magic."  I have a gratitude book that I write in every day.  EVERY DAY!  (of course I do) No matter what is going on in your life, we all know that there is always something to be grateful for but I also include being thankful for the magic that will happen today and everyday

LET IT GO FOR NOW

 Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  When learning new things "don't give up" becomes a mantra but sometimes those new things we learn are really hard.  The perfect pie crust took many tries.  To do anything well you need to practice but sometimes we just don't want to and find that giving up is much easier.

Today's quote is, "Giving up just means you aren't ready."  Why does giving up have such a bad connotation?  It conjures up thoughts of laziness and no one wants to be considered lazy.  We never think of giving up as not being ready.  You can be told the same thing over and over and over again but unless you are ready to hear what is being said, it will fall on deaf ears.

Be kind to yourself.  Refrain from thinking of giving up as a negative.  Think of it as a way of taking a break until you are prepared to sail!

FEAR OF THE DARK

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Introvert or extrovert?  Which one are you?  Perhaps like me, you are a bit of both.  I love a good party but I also love my alone time.  I rise before the birds for my day job and although getting up before the sun is difficult it is also a beautiful time of day.  No one in my house is up, not even Mia.  It is the time of day I am completely alone with my thoughts and the residual memories of the dreams from the night.  Alone time is not always treasured by all.

Today's quote is, "Time alone is to be treasured unless you are afraid of what you might find."  Not everyone can be alone.  It can be scary.  Benign thoughts can turn on a dime taking your mind to places you fear and ones you would never dream of visiting had you had some company.

Your mind wanders much of the day.  I know from personal experience but also from scientific evidence.  Forty seven percent of our day is spent on everything except what we are supposed to be doing.  Why not let it take you to wonderful places?  Being alone doesn't have to be like a walk in a hall of horrors.  It can be the time you need to solve problems and make plans.  

Don't fear the dark for after the dark there is always light.

AGAINST THE CURRENT

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Summer is officially behind us.  Although there are days of relaxation whatever the season is there is nothing that compares to the lazy feel of a summer day.  The fall is always so busy I sometimes long for the days of sitting by a lake watching the tiny ripples in the water.  Once fall begins the universal "us" seems to hit the ground running.

Today's quote is, "Swimming against the current exhausts more than your body but your mind and spirit too."  I know you're busy.  I know you have a lot on your plate. I know you're juggling a million things at once but no matter what needs to get done if you don't slow down, nothing will get done.  Nothing will be accomplished if you're running in circles. 

I'm extremely grateful to the people who clean my house.  Cleaning my house was one of my least favorite chores but one that I did myself for years.  I would start upstairs and work my way down which seemed to take forever.  The slightest thing would distract me.   A three hour job would take four hours at the very least, making me realize I needed help.

What is it that you need help with?  What can you take off your plate to make your day flow more smoothly?  Don't be shy.  Ask for help.  The Universe is on your side.

THE NOVEL WRITTEN BY YOU

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  I love both reading and writing.  Reading is wonderful for so many different reasons.  You can vicariously go on an adventure, learn about the lives of others, drool over just about every cuisine and travel to faraway places.  Reading helps broaden your perspective and enhances your vocabulary thus helping in the writing process.

I bet you didn't realize how many novels you have written.  Today's quote is, "There is a novel in each of us with chapters on love, despair, defeat, success and joy.  Re-read each one and see where you are drawn and what it is you wish to leave behind."  

The pain, sorry and grief  you've lived through is there but so is the love, the joy, successes and strength you've shown to navigate through rough waters.  Each chapter needs to be re-read allowing you to see how far you have come.  Maybe you don't want to leave any chapters behind.  After all, each one made you who you are today.

THE VOICE WITHIN

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  There are times in life when we have big decisions to make and because we are unsure or feel we need some help, we put our trust in those we know and love to decide for us as if they have all the answers but you know what?  Even the people we know and love so much don't always know what is best for us.

As a child I was spoken to more than listened to.  I learned that what others said was more important that what I said or what I thought and therefore it was difficult for me to make decisions.  Thankfully I've come very far since childhood.

Today's quote is, "You can hear advice but listen to your intuition."  You know yourself better than anyone so if you really look deep inside yourself you will find the answers to all your questions. 

Ask for advice and hear it all but when the sun sets, listen to the voice that only you can hear otherwise known as your own intuition.

WELCOME

 Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  What are your plans for the day?  Anything exciting or just the ordinary.  What about your life plans?  Have you given that a thought or are they just happening as you go on living?  You don't always need a plan.  Sometimes its nice to let things happen and evolve as they should.

News flash.  This isn't our first rodeo.  We've ridden that horse before.  The difference is we are here to perfect that ride!  Today's quote is, "You are the being the Universe was waiting for - watching - wondering when you would arrive to finish what you started when last you left."

If you are reading this I know we are of the same mind set.  We have all been here before and we have so much work to do that our souls just had to return.  That person that rubs you the wrong way?  They're back too and chances are you'll run into them again.  That person that feels like you've known forever?  You have!  They're back as well.

That unresolved situation?  You will live it once again until finally it is resolved.  The Universe is there to help and will step in just when you need it but is also curious as to how you will handle things this time around.  To quote the lyrics from The Lost Horizon, "The World is a Circle that Never Begins, Nobody Knows Where It Really Ends!"

SWEETNESS - NOT BITTERNESS

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  Life is amazing and wonderful but life can also throw us some major curveballs.  One minute its smooth sailing and the next you capsize.  Sometimes you're on a roll where everything is great and other times absolutely nothing is going in your favor.  Giving up isn't an option but your attitude is.

Today's quote is, "To get lost in the arms of bitterness is to disallow the loving embrace of sweetness."  The hill made of resentment and anger leading to bitterness is hard to get down from.  It is a sticky web one must try and pull away from.  

There is no denying that some of us have had life experiences that leave us scratching our heads wondering what we did to deserve this pain and sorrow but if we let ourselves get swallowed up in bitterness we close the door to laughter, joy, hope and love.

Leave bitterness behind and make room for the sweetness to come back into your life.  The sweetness that you deserve.

WE ARE A MIRROR

 Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  It would be wonderful to walk around happy and cheerful all the time but we don't.  We are thinkers and obsessors. We are ten steps ahead of ourselves at all times, planning and worrying.  Even when we run into a friend the thought pattern remains the same as we exchange pleasantries and commiserate together on our stressful lives.

What if you stopped obsessing.  What if  you stopped planning and worrying and were in the moment.  The very moment of now.  There is no doubt in my mind that you would not only feel better but attract smiles in your direction rather than grievances.

Today's quote is, "Our internal world is mirrored all around us."  When we feel insecure, defeated and inadequate we don't need to wear a t-shirt to let anyone know.  We wear those feelings in our movements, actions and expressions and when that is what we wear, that is what we attract.  

Will there be days when we feel utterly hopeless and miserable?  Where you feel angry and annoyed?  Of course there will but before you give in to those feelings take a breath.  Write down your upset and then write down your blessings.  Let them be a reminder of all that is good in your life and walk out that door with confidence clarity and hope.

OPEN YOUR HEART - Thursday, 9/30

 Good morning and happy Thursday.  Languid and lovely is how love should be.  Countless songs have been written about love.  From Love is a many Splendid Thing to Love Shack.  Who doesn't want to be loved?  The problem comes when we have been hurt because we loved too deeply and too passionately.  When we experience that kind of hurt we never want to feel that way again and so we close ourselves off to love afraid of reliving that very same pain.

WHAT?  NEVER LOVE AGAIN?  If you fall down do you not get up?  If you burn the roof of your mouth on a slice do you never eat pizza again?  Today's quote is, "Leave room for love behind the shield you hold so closely near your heart."  No one enjoys getting hurt.  No one wants to feel the pain of a broken heart.  

I was 15 when my heart was broken for the first time.  Was it awful, painful and miserable?  Of course it was but can you imagine a 15 year old closing themselves off to love forever?  To think that you will never find love or be loved is to think the sun will never shine again.  While there may be rainy days ahead, the clouds will part and the sun will come out again.

HOLD YOUR POWER

 Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Is there such a thing as trusting too much?  I think it depends on who you are referring to.   There are people in my life I can definitely depend upon.  People who have my back and ones that I am free to express who I really am when I am in their company.  

We all want people like that in our lives but sometimes trust is broken.  One of my favorite quotes from Benjamin Franklin is, "Two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead."  Telling a friend a deep dark secret is not always such a great idea.  Sometimes a secret is just too juicy not to share even if you have been told not to utter a word to another soul.

Few people have that capability.  Few people can really honor what is asked of them.  When the cat is let out of the bag you are left feeling utterly exposed.  Today's quote is, "Is it betrayal or have you trusted too deeply."  I am not saying to be leery of everyone you meet but unless you feel that immediate soul connection it is ok to be a little guarded.

I have a card that I purchased many years ago that says, "If you want to find a girl's faults, praise her to her friends."   Beware of the green eyed monster that lives within you.   Treasure your friendships.  Treasure your soulmates.  Be happy for them as you would for yourself.  Trust deeply but with the right people.

MOVING FORWARD

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  "All in due time," is a phrase I truly believe in.  I also believe that things happen when they are meant to.  Both statements have the same meaning but it doesn't mean we sit around and wait for our lives to change.  That cannot happen unless we take action.  What is it that will get you going?  Each one of us is different and has different threshold levels of exasperation.  Only you will know when gliding through each day is no longer working.

Today's quote is, "We prefer to be lead with a gentle hand but it is not always a gentle hand that will lead us - if you feel a pull or a push it is because gentle no longer works."  We don't always listen or see.  We hear what we want and see what we want.  Only when things begin to hurt our ears and blind us do we know change needs to be now!

Your life is up to you.  How you want to live it is up to you.  No one can tell you.  Wait a minute.  EVERYONE can tell you but only you can decide when to make a leap.  While we may prefer to take it slow, taking it slow may not be an option!

KNOWLEDGE VS. WISDOM

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Are you a life long learner?  I love learning new things.  There is always something new to learn even if it is just a new recipe.  There are so many ways to acquire knowledge.  These days of course we have the internet although I'm a bit dubious about the internet as a source of real learning.  I prefer a good old fashioned book.  I enjoy all kinds of topics and genres.  When I learn something new I feel empowered having gained knowledge I might have lived without.

Wisdom on the other hand is something gained through experience because some things just can't be found in a book.  Today's quote is, "Knowledge is acquired - wisdom is gained - you cannot acquire wisdom from a book - it is the experience you have lived through that will make you the most knowledgeable." 

Life experience is the ultimate hands on learning.  You could read all the "how to" books on narcissistic behavior but until you come across one in real life you have no idea what you are in for.  To make the best bread, pie crust, cookies or summer pasta dish, read what Ina Garten has to say.  To feel the power of a sunrise you must witness it first hand. Books will teach you all kinds of things but the wisdom you gain through experience can never be written about.

LIVE FIRST

 Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  Thursday is a great day because that means its almost Friday and Friday means the weekend and the weekend means....  Anticipation can drive you mad!  Remember the ketchup commercial?  Would that thick, red, tomato condiment ever reach our burger? 

Focusing on the next step means you're really not in the present moment.  You could be here now but in your mind you are already ten steps ahead.  Whatever it is you're waiting for will come when the time is right so enjoy yourself now!

Today's quote is, "While awaiting transformation do not forget to live."  Its exciting knowing wonderful things are on your horizon but enjoy the now.  I've said this repeatedly so maybe this time you'll hear it!  Enjoy the present moment even if what you want is not yet here.

IN LOVE

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Do you love yourself?  I mean truly and deeply love yourself?  How many of us can really say that.  Usually the first thing we do is think of all our perceived faults.  We don't think that we were created as perfect beings deserving of self love. 

Love is something we all want in our lives but if we don't love ourselves, how can anyone else?  Today's quote is, "Honor yourself by falling in love with exactly who you are."  At this moment you are perfect exactly as you are.  Isn't that nice to hear?  You could hear it from me all day long but if you don't believe it then it doesn't matter how many times it is said.

THE WINDS OF CHANGE

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  Hurricane season is upon us.  Makes me glad that I live in the northeast where all we may see are some heavy rains minus the devastation.  The pictures shown on the news are always so heartbreaking.  A beautiful house that was someone's home.  A business that took years to build.  A town left in ruins.  

What if that destroyed home was in desperate need of repair?  What if that business was in desperate need of a facelift.  We look at catastrophic events as awful which indeed they are but sometimes there is a silver lining beneath it all.

Today's quote is, "Chaos is the whirlwind necessary to make things happen."  Unfortunately when one is so resistant to change it comes to knock you on the head!  Complacency could be looked upon as apathy but its really about not wanting to rock the boat, however; without those waves you may never reach the shore.

Change isn't always easy which is why we remain complacent.  Sometimes it takes devastating events to push us out of our comfort zone.  In order to grow you need to change and if chaos is the whirlwind to make things happen then so be it!

THOSE VOICES IN YOUR HEAD

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  There were many times when I was at work that I would be all alone.  Although I worked in a shared room, my roommate was often called to assist others leaving me in the company of only myself.  I liked the conversations we had and sharing the space but I also liked the quiet.  Sometimes it was a little too quiet.  With no one to talk to my conversations turned inward.  Depending on my mood I could either make myself laugh or cry!

Thoughts can turn a bad day into a great one or a great one the complete opposite.  Today's quote is, "Sitting with your thoughts can destroy or empower you - be aware of what you allow inside your mind."  When you sit with your thoughts do you go to the best or worst places?  Do you conjure up incredible storylines or devastating scenarios?  

What you think can create a reality you want nothing to do with.  You can't always be positive, upbeat or in a good mood. Humans are capable of a range of emotions but be aware of your thoughts.  Bring in the ones that build you up rather than tear you down and create storylines that make you the shining star that you were meant to be!

NO MEAGPHONE NEEDED

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  I curse a lot.  Cursing helps me to express myself.  The "F" word is one of my true favorites.  What a wonderful adjective.  I never cursed when my kids were really little for fear of them imitating their mom but as they got to be a little older, my friend the "F" bomb would begin to slip out.  I made sure to be as quiet as I could but somehow even using my  quietest voice those little people in my house heard every word.  How does that happen?

Its kinda like the Universe.  When we give off vibrations of lack and feelings of worthlessness we don't have to utter a single word but that is exactly what the Universe is hearing.  On the flip side the Universe is also aware of the wonderful things you want to see in your life.  

When things don't manifest when we want them to we can't help but feel that we are being ignored.  Not to worry.  Today's quote is, "No need to shout - the Universe can hear every word of every thought."  That's right!  All our hopes, dreams and desires don't need to be shouted from a rooftop in order to be heard.  It can be hard to trust that everything will find its way to us when so many times we have been disappointed.

Trust is a hard lesson to learn.  I've been working on it most of my life! There are two options to choose from.  Worry that nothing will ever ever work out for you or trust in divine timing.  Its up to you!

LEAVE YOUR WORRIES BEHIND

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  How great it is to be on vacation.  Being on vacation gets you away from your normal routine and changes your focus completely.  The day to day worries seem to vanish but eventually we return back to our lives and back to our daily stresses.  

The New Moon reminds us that we don't need to live in a constant state of worry and when we write down all the things we want in our lives.  Worry is not one of them.  In fact worrying about anything makes you worry more.

Today's quote is, "Worrying about what you don't want almost guarantees its arrival."  We put so much emphasis on the negative because its so easy or is it because we don't want to set ourselves up for failure.  Before you even utter the words "I knew I would never get ......"  your thoughts are reverberating throughout the Universe.  

It is the same with worrying.  Although worrying is a low vibration it is awfully loud and the thing about worrying is that you can worry about absolutely anything.  Aside from bringing about more worry it will also bring about the very thing you do not want to happen.  Is it hard to change your thought patterns?  You bet it s.  It takes work and work takes commitment.

Commit to yourself and leave your inner Chicken Little behind.  Trust that the sky will always be above you and will never ever fall.

YOU ARE HERE

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  The Spiritual Guru, (although I'm sure he wouldn't want to be called that) Ram Dass wrote a well received book entitled Be Here Now.  I love that title because it makes you pause.  It makes you wonder if you are really here.  Right now.  In this very moment.  Distractions are all around us but are mostly inside our heads.  We can be cooking dinner and thinking about the box that needs to be mailed tomorrow.  

Today's quote is, "We can't be anywhere but in this moment."  The truth is we can be anywhere but in this moment so why rush it?  Why take the pleasure away from enjoying yourself  in the now and not  thinking about everything from your lunch that's two hours away to your beach vacation in a month.  

We live in a time when everything is so rushed but you don't have to jump on that bandwagon.  Learn to swim at your own pace.  We forget to enjoy the small things life has to offer but we can only enjoy them if we stop to pause.  Be excited for your beach vacation but be just as excited for a this very moment!

FEAR NOT

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Which state do you live in?  I'm not talking about New York, New Jersey or Connecticut.  I'm talking about your state of mind.  Are you pleased with where you are at this moment or are you thinking there must be more?  Are you bored in your current situation?  Do you find yourself dreaming and visualizing yourself wearing a different hat so to speak?

That's actually a good thing.  The first step in creating change happens because we are bored.  Living on the edge and being excited every second of the day is not what I mean.  When our current situations leave us feeling as though we are stranded on a desert island with nothing to drink is when we know we have to get creative.

That feeling can also lead to fear and anxiety.  How can we just walk away from a comfortable situation?  The negative what ifs start screaming in our heads but the flip side of that is the positive what ifs that also speak to you.

Today's quote is, "Finding your passion requires you to first live in boredom - anxiety - fear and the most uncomfortable of emotions."  If you are about to jump off a cliff I would be scared too but know there is a parachute above you.  Life is too short to be unhappy and unsatisfied.  Sometimes we need to just jump as scary as that may be.

TIME TO RISE

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  Sadness is a very heavy emotion.  It weighs us down as if we are wearing lead bracelets around our ankles. Sinking feels as though it is actually easier than putting one foot in front of the other.  When we are at our saddest, lowest and most miserable, we can either stay there or do what we can to climb our way out of it.

Today's quote is, "When we plunge so low into the depths of sorrow there is nothing left to do but rise."  We all experience sadness and its ok to be there but not to live there.  Its not ok to deprive yourself of joy.  Things happen in life that we never planned for.  Things happen in life that shake us to our core.  Some of these events are responsible for causing pain and sorrow in our lives and a river of tears that never seem to end.

Be in that sadness as long as it takes but know that happiness will find its way once again however long it takes.

RELEASE THE TREND

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  We are all familiar with the basic rules of life.  Don't steal, cheat or kill.  The rules that aren't universal are the ones that are relegated to our individual families.  Clean your room on Tuesdays, no TV watching until after dinner, etc.  As adults we choose which rules to extend to our own families and which ones to leave out.  

What we also pass down from generation to generation are not only rules but a mind set.  That's a tough one to shake and usually requires multiple therapy sessions.  If you have grown up hearing "you can't" more than you can, chances are these words are stuck in your mind like gum on the bottom of a shoe.  

Today's quote is, "The one who told you you can't was told way before you."  Did  you ever stop to think that maybe you weren't the only ones who heard this perennial chorus of negativity?  How many times have you heard the words of your parents come straight out of your mouth as if you had no control over them.  

There is a tendency to repeat what we despised.  Instead of anger, try to be more understanding.  Those words so easily formed on your lips were said to your parents and I can guarantee they weren't happy hearing them either.

OPPORTUNITY IN A DISASTER

Good morning all!  Happy Thursday.  The days when nothing goes right are manageable.  We might not like them but we know there will be a new one tomorrow. Its when they turn into weeks and months that we begin to lose our grip finding it difficult to keep that upper lip stiff.  

What are we doing wrong?  Why does nothing seem to work out?  Is it because our approach hasn't changed nor has our point of view or the lens in which we see?  Maybe!  Today's quote is, "When it all comes crashing down - when it all feels as though everything is falling apart - this can also be the moment of opportunity."

When we are at our lowest from experiencing disaster after disaster it is hard to expect anything else.  When we are in total darkness it is difficult to find the light switch but its there.  Opportunity doesn't always come knocking.  Wouldn't it be great if it did?  We have to look for it and be open minded.  

How can we turn bitter into sweet.  How can we make lemonade out of those lemons?  That my friends is your job.  Your mind is an amazing tool.  Use your creativity and your imagination when that is all you have.  The things that you can do will not only amaze you but truly are amazing!

UNITE YOURSELF

 Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  The word I, refers to one.  One person.  Only one.  BUT aren't we more than just I?  We are nurturers and caregivers.  We are rule followers and rule makers.  In each one of those roles we act in a different way.  While we are busy in the world around us taking care of everyone from bosses to co-workers to family and friends who takes care of us?  That is a job for the one and only I!

Today's quote is, "Tend to the flock of each of yourselves - work together to make you one and make you whole."  Flock refers to a large number but we don't realize all the things we accomplish in a day.  Even on those days when we do nothing, do we really do nothing?  There is always something to do.  An errand to run, a meal to prepare, an email to send and let us not forget the unexpected events that always seem to need immediate attention.  

Find the time to nurture yourself.  Take a walk.  Prepare a nice breakfast and eat it on the good dishes.  Indulge in a Netflix series. Read that book in your comfortable chair.  Do something that will bring yourself back to yourself and to being whole.

A POWERFUL MIND

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  How gullible are you?  Do you believe everything you read or heard or were told?  Adults are lucky.  They get to choose to believe what they want and filter out the rest.  Children aren't as lucky.  Parents tell children all sorts of things with such conviction why would their wisdom be doubted?  Whatever a parent might say is viewed as the one and only truth.

I hope that everyone grew up with loving, supportive and nurturing parents.  Sadly that's not always the case.  Many people still hear those negative voices in their heads putting down ideas we thought were amazing and even doubting our abilities.  

We look like adults on the outside but inside we are still that vulnerable child unwilling to take a risk because of what we were lead to believe so very long ago.

Today's quote is, "The power of the mind is incredible - it will believe anything you tell it."  I understand.  Its hard to undo what's been done.  Words  that have been imbedded in our brains are hard to scrape out but we must.  We are the only ones who can do that.  Tell yourself all the positive and wonderful things about yourself and do something really amazing with this new information.  Believe it!!!!

A PERFECT MATCH

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Daydreaming is one of my favorite pastimes.  I'm not alone.  96% of us daydream on a regular basis 50% of the time.  WOW!  That a lot of fantasizing!  A wandering mind is also one that is hard at work.  Daydreams consist not only of visualizing yourself racing down a ski slope or lounging on a beautiful beach.  Daydreaming is about planning for the future.

Life takes the course it is meant to as we toil away doing some things we love and others we might not.  The word passion has come into fashion as of late.  "What is your passion?"  "Find your passion!"  Like a mantra or a command the collective "we" have made finding our passion a job. 

STOP!  Look no further.  Today's quote is, "While living your life you and your passion will find each other."  Its amazing how that happens and it really does!  Just like that!  Your passion is there.  It already exists.  It is in the book that you read, the recipe that you try, the lecture you listen to, the tarot reading you receive (yea, that was me!), the TV show you watch, and even the billboard you pass.  

Your passion exists within you.  No need to chase it.  Do the laundry, make dinner, walk the dog, pay your bills and when you are both ready you and your passion will fall into each other's arms.

DECISIONS DECISIONS

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  One of the hardest things to do is to lose weight.  Rice cakes pale in comparison to oreos.  Sadly I've never known oreos to be included in any weight loss program.  If you're not of the mind or mood to restrict your caloric intake then your weight will remain as it is.  Its just that simple.

Today's quote is, "Nothing can happen until you decide you want it to."  We can all relate to the desire to shed a few pounds but we also know it ain't easy!  Tell me what is easy?  Hmmmmm, I can't think of anything either.  

What I do know is that doing nothing achieves nothing.  We can daydream, plan, make lists, leave post-its everywhere reminding of us of what we want to come to fruition but until we decide to actually make it happen, that desire and dream is nothing but an unfulfilled wish. 

You and you alone are the one to create your life exactly as you want and when you decide, the world will be waiting!

STRUGGLES AND THE JOYS - AN EQUAL BLESSING

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Are you one of those people who knew by age 5 what you wanted to be when you grew up?  I always wanted to be an actress and I kinda, sorta was but not on the venue you might be thinking of.  It also took time to find the proper stage. The word clueless comes to mind when I think of the vast majority of people who had absolutely no idea where life would take them.  Like water in a stream, we end up flowing in the right direction.

Today's quote is, "We've been chosen for the work we do on earth - take pride in all of it - be grateful for the gift of life we were given with its struggles and joys."  Everyone of us will eventually find our way no matter how long it takes.  That 5 year old who always wanted to be a doctor will easily set himself up on that path but the clueless ones will drive on a twisted road, stopping every now and again thinking they have found their destination and when they don't, they simply continue to drive.

There's nothing wrong with that.  Everything you do builds on itself.  Every skill you learn will benefit something else and will help you grow until at last you have found the right address!!!! The GPS of life is not computerized.  It will sometimes take you down a road you didn't want to go to but will offer an experience you may not have chosen.

In many ways a plan has already been laid out for us.  This doesn't mean to sit back and let life take its course.  It means that whatever you are doing to reach your destination is exactly the right approach.  The one that will get you exactly where you were meant to be!

HAPPINESS NOW

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.   Its only morning and already I'm thinking about dinner.  Nothing brings immediate pleasure like food.  A sumptuous meal, a decadent dessert, cold watermelon on a hot day.  That long lasting mmmmm sound we make when we are experiencing something so wonderful. In that very moment we couldn't be happier.  

We are so lucky to feel such happiness for something so simple as food.  A happiness that overtakes every one of our senses, but when you are eating that dinner, are you thinking about dessert or are you really enjoying your plate of  Bolognese?

Today's quote is, "Extreme joy is experienced by being in the moment of now."  How often are we thinking of step 2 before finishing step 1?  How can you thoroughly enjoy step 1 if your mind is on  step 3?

Savor each and every taste of life.  The sweet, the sour, the salty and the bitter.  Be in each moment without a thought for the one that follows for the moment of now is the most joyful one there is.
