EXPLORE AND CREATE - Thursday, 5/28

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  My oldest son just graduated from college.  What an exciting time for him.  The world as they say is his oyster!  Do you know why that's a saying?  I don't either but you get the gist which is, there is a whole world out there with a platter full of opportunity.

When I got my college degree the question asked by many was, "so now what are you going to do?" said with a combined tone of sarcasm and wonder.  If your answer was something like, "I'm not sure yet," you were met with looks of sympathy (for your parents) and disgust for the loser they were thinking you were.

Things are so different now.  Gone are the days where people start out in one company and finish with the same one thirty years later.  As hard as it may be for some to find employment there are also numerous opportunities that previously didn't exist, combined with the fact that young people are not willing to be miserable in a job they despise for any length of time!

Today's quote is, "Exercise your right to explore possibilities and create your reality and your world."  I am a firm believer in this.  My day job is a necessity, one that at times I find myself struggling to get to because it brings no reward.  WAIT!  That's not true.  Every two weeks there is a reward sitting in my bank account.

I'm where I am due to my own life circumstances.  Ones that are very different from a recent college grad.  Please don't think I'm complaining because I'm not.  Twenty somethings get a head start on exploring and discovering their passions much sooner than their parents but by no means are they the only ones who get to live their dreams.

While toiling away in my mundane job I have been exploring so many possibilities and have definitely created a reality to my liking.  This day job of mine will soon run its course and when it does I will have exercised my right to be living exactly what I have been so busy creating.  What are you waiting for, after all, it is your right - create your reality and create your world!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

EVERY MOMENT COUNTS

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday.  How are you feeling right now?  I mean it.  Stop reading and find the emotion that matches you right this very moment.  If you feel fine or satisfied or positively gleeful, enjoy the moment.  If you are feeling tired, cranky and miserable, acknowledge that moment equally as well.  All emotions deserve recognition.

My question is why is it so hard to for us to enjoy a moment of happiness without letting our minds drift to something else we want or somewhere else we want to be.  I don't have the answer to that, it is unfortunately our nature which is why, (hint hint) I meditate!

Today's quote is, "We hover between desire and satisfaction to want and to know more exists but be in the moment of joy recognizing right now."  Enjoyment is disregarded if all you think about is what's next.  Incorporating meditation into a daily routine helps slow down the need for instantaneous gratification.  Meditation allows you to just be so that you are not thinking about later, yesterday or next week.

To want more is not a bad thing.  It is what we crave! More success, more financial comfort but also more sunshine, more fun, more excitement and more peace of mind.  Meditation is a tool to bring you closer to all these things including sunshine because you will begin to see the world in a different way.

Want more but be satisfied and grateful for what is already in place.  Ultimately it is not just financial reward that creates happiness but inner peace and gratitude for what is front and center.  Is there room for more?  Always but just for today, just for this instant be grateful, find joy and feel the sunshine!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!~Love, Amy

DON'T PICK

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  When I was a kid I had a countless number of bruises on my legs and if you asked me how I got them I'm sure I had no idea! I cannot tell you how many times I have stubbed my toe on my bedpost, banged my shin on the dishwasher and turned my hip right into the kitchen counter but at least now I know where my black and blues come from!   Hard to believe I majored in dance while at college.

I also had my share of bloody scrapes which seemed to take forever to heal.  Scrapes turn into those bumpy scabs creating an activity as I (and I'm sure you) would keep picking at until they bled once again.  GROSS!  How can a wound heal if we keep picking at it?

Today's quote is, "Open wounds will never heal - give them care and love and in time they will be invisible."  Let me repeat the above question.  How can a wound heal if we keep picking at it?  Our scabs have long disappeared but that doesn't mean we have no wounds.  Some of our wounds are so old but somehow we are able to bring them right back to the surface.

When these wounds are caused by the people we love so much, whether an intimate partner or a dear friend, it is ever so painful.  It is said that time heals all wounds.  True that!  Hurtful words cannot be unsaid but we can try and understand why they were spoken.

Care for yourself like that little child who fell on the pavement and now has a bloody knee.  Wash those inner wounds with time and love and care and allow them to turn into distant memories.  Ones that allow you to cast all pain aside.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

RUNNING TOWARDS THE LIGHT

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  On a warm summer night a flickering flame is a guarantee that moths will soon be hovering near by.  There are no moth brains inside its tiny head.  It is instinct that draws them there.

We have more in common with those tiny little creatures than you realize but rather than being  drawn to a flickering flame, our instincts tell us to stay back so we don't get burned while other times we are pulled to the light like a magnet.

Today's quote is, "Instinctively we are drawn to the light the one that turns on our passion."  Of course we are!  Remember when you were starting out in the work force and you had one horrible job after another?  Oh wait, that was me BUT maybe it was you as well.  It took time to figure out where you were going to land.

It took me several unsatisfactory jobs to figure out that I preferred autonomy.  Never very good at playing the game I rolled my eyes often and used sarcasm a bit too freely.  It became quite clear that I needed to do something where I was in charge and was able to be my own boss.

Voila!  Teaching!  That's what I wanted to do.  My first day as a substitute teacher I knew this was my calling.  Teaching was a way to combine what I liked best: being creative, being active and being in charge.  The second I stepped into a classroom I knew I was home.  There is no difference between teaching children geography and teaching adults Reiki.  Teaching is teaching and remains to be one of my passions.

We all have a passion.  The Universe has filled our inner being with all sorts of things to be passionate about.  If you haven't found yours just yet, trust that you will and when you do, you will use your wings to fly.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

STICK TO YOUR GUNS

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  Each and every one of us has a belief system but somewhere along the way our beliefs change.  We think differently at different stages in our lives.  What was acceptable in our twenties might change by the time we reach thirty.  What was OK before kids might be totally different once a baby arrives.

Just because you thought something was one way doesn't mean it has to be that way forever.  We all need to be flexible except when it comes to beliefs of equality.  I believe we all deserve love, compassion and forgiveness and I will stand by that until my last breath.

Today's quote is, "I will never compromise my beliefs nor be convinced to change them."   You know what makes me better than you?  Nothing!  Absolutely nothing.  We all deserve the chance to create a life of our choosing regardless of circumstance.  We all deserve to be loved and valued.  We all deserve to be seen as equals in this world.

Does it always happen?  Unfortunately it doesn't but we have the power to change that by the way we treat others.  I believe the bible said it best, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."  You are not above or below another.  Every person you meet can teach you something.  We are all teachers and students.  If you must compromise a belief, believe that chocolate chip cookies are the latest heart healthy food!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THINK IT - SEE IT - LIVE IT

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Whenever we get lost in fantasy its always something good, something enjoyable.  Perhaps we stop mid email to remember a beach vacation, a walk in the woods or a pretty sunrise.  Since we humans don't really have it all figured out yet, (apologies to those who do), it often takes time to know how we want to spend our days.

I used to envy classmates who found their passion as early as 5 years old.  The ones who just knew they were going to be doctors, lawyers, musicians and artists.  I wasn't particularly passionate about anything when I was young and therefore had no clue where I would end up.  I feared that I would never be passionate about anything.

Clearly we know that to be incorrect but it didn't happen over night.  It was a journey that I traveled on and continue to travel on.  Once the light bulb went off I began to imagine my life as a healer.  Every month I honored the new moon by writing down ten wishes with clear intent.  That part of the journey began eleven years ago.  That's right.  ELEVEN YEARS AGO!  Not two months ago.  I told you its a process!

I was excited and amazed as I watched what was manifesting in my life and all because I put it out there.  Every day I am closer and closer to a life I want to live.  Today's quote is, "Imagination is the first step - manifestation is the second step - living it is your dream come true."   If you feel stuck and are stuck, imagine where you would be if you could get out of the mud.  Once you see that place, climb out and wipe off your shoes.

Step two is to honor the new moon just as I have and still do every single month.  Write down what you wish to see and watch as it unfolds and lastly know you are not asleep nor are you dreaming for what you thought was only a dream has come true!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

STOP CHASING - PURSUE INSTEAD

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  I am going to share with you two words that have very different meanings.  The word chase and the word pursue.  What comes to mind when you hear them?  When I hear the word chase my mind conjures up images of my kids running after various types of balls.  The word chase leaves me out of breath as I recall running after Mia, trying my best to get the stick from her during her favorite game.

When I hear the word pursue I envision someone scholarly as in someone pursuing a doctorate.  I recall the inevitable question when my kids all started college, "what major will they pursue?"  When you chase something you are left breathless.  When you pursue something you are left with an accomplishment.  That is the key difference.  Do you want to be out of breath or do you want to reach new heights?

Today's quote is, "Chasing dreams only makes you tired - pursuing them makes them happen."  This life of ours is here to make us happy and in order to find out what makes us happy we need to pursue avenues that resonate with us.  Chasing is reckless and impulsive.  Pursuing is thoughtful and methodical.  Chasing is exhausting.  Picture Mia and me.  It's fun until I start clutching my chest.  No matter how fast I run I will never catch her.

Same for dreams.  You can chase them but you may never reach them.  Pursue your dreams with precision, calculation, intent and the hunger within your soul~in this way your dreams will come true.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

CREATE THE REALITY OF YOUR CHOOSING

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  One of the women I most admire is my mother who grew up in a time when there were limited and few opportunities.  If a woman dared to work outside of the home leaving her husband to fend for himself, she was limited to teaching, nursing or joining the secretarial pool.

My mother was a rarity.  She graduated from an out of town college and created her own business.  Most men wouldn't even let their wives work let alone create a business of their own.  These days two incomes is not considered a luxury but a necessity.  While we all have to eat, pay a mortgage and fulfill obligations we are lucky and blessed that we were born when we were, for the choices we have are endless!

Today's quote is, "Exercise your right to explore possibilities and create your reality and your world."  That's correct ladies and gentlemen.  It is your right!  We have a right to live out our dreams.  You can manifest anything.  You really can.  Why do you think I keep reiterating the fact that what you want, what you truly desire can happen?  I say this because I believe in my heart that we all have a right to be happy in our lives.

Do we make mistakes and foolish choices?  Do we screw up every now and again, sometimes more than we'd like to admit?  Oh boy!  Of course we do.  Does screwing up set us back?  Indeed it does but eventually our mistakes flash at us like a neon sign bright enough to see so we can duck out of the way!

We're not being punished either.  You don't punish a student for a misspelled word.  The Universe doesn't punish its students either and that's what we all are.  We are students in this life who are here to learn and grow, to flourish and bloom, to succeed in creating the very best life we possibly can!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy
