A LIGHT UNTO YOURSELF

Good morning everyone. 

It's happening.  One by one they are falling like dominoes in a row.  Without naming names, you know exactly who I mean.  The ones we all put on a giant pedestal while we were busy searching for answers.  While it is fine to look to others for help and inspiration, I cannot express how important it is to listen to the most powerful voice there is.  Yours.  Your voice, your intuition and that upset stomach that is screaming at you to trust yourself.

Today's quote is, "Be your own savior, your own temple, your own light."  Why is it that we immediately give our full trust to a stranger but hesitate when it comes to trusting ourselves.  In the words of a very knowledgeable Kabbalistic Rabbi, do not confuse charisma with consciousness.  

Do not get swept up into someone's world because they have a bigger bank account giving them the ability to market themselves far and wide and flourish only in a way that social media has allowed.  

Are some of these people helpful?  Absolutely.  It is not a bad thing to be helped by a stranger on social media.  I will admit, I have listened to a few myself but I refuse to get enveloped in the words and world of someone who claims to have all the answers and won't admit when they don't.

There are so many wise, enlightened, insightful, competent and well informed people on the internet.  The only difference is their bank account and marketing skills.  Listen to many voices.  Listen to what everyone has to say regardless of their fame and fortune but in the end, listen to yourself because you are truly your own savior, your own temple and your own light.

FOLLOW YOUR HEART

Good morning, everyone.  Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on becoming an adult.  The greatest thing about adulthood is that you can finally make your own decisions.  I hear it from my 26 year old all the time.  If I try to make even the slightest suggestion about anything, he quickly reminds me that he can make his own decisions because...."I'm an adult."

Wow!  I wish I had his backbone when I was his age.  Instead, I chose to remain under that metaphorical thumb paralyzed with the inability to make decisions.  Every journey is personal.  Some take longer than others to find what it is they are looking for, but I finally realized how to get to the yellow brick road.

Today's quote is, "The path to happiness is following your heart not what you were told."  We have all been taught to look to our elders for wisdom and advice but no one except us is walking in our shoes.  There is a saying that goes, "take what you need and leave the rest," and I believe that even if you are receiving advice from a most trusted source.

Listen to your elders but listen first to your heart.  That is what will lead you to your true path of happiness.

SILENCE AND DISTANCE

The world is such an interesting place with so many countries, cultures and languages.  I always envied people who are multilingual but there is a language spoken by all no matter where they are from.  That language is silence.  Yes.  Silence is indeed a language.

Today's quote is, "Silence and distance are a language all their own."  Communication does not begin and end with the spoken word.  We have the ability to express every emotion with the blink of an eye, an upturned lip or a nod of the head.  We also have the ability to get our point across with complete silence.  No words, no expressions, just nothing.

I say silence and distance but I feel they are synonymous.  When you choose to be silent, you have chosen distance.  You have chosen to remove yourself from altercation, confrontation and conversation.  You have chosen to speak loudly with your silence.

WRAPPED IN A FACADE

 Good morning everyone~

Are you a good judge of character?  I like to think I am but there are always those who are masters of disguise, able to fool us really well.  There are people who are the complete opposite of what they present and only when we are fully enmeshed are we able to see them for what they really are.

Today's quote is, "The biggest mistake you can make is to fall for a façade."  Be kind to yourself!  It's not your fault (or mine).  We have more in common than not.  We all want to be liked, loved, valued and respected but if we don't like, love, value or respect ourselves we play the game of pretend.  We pretend to be everything we aren't so that we are loved and valued.

Playing pretend is great if you're an actor on a stage but not if the stage is real life.  When that façade begins to crumble and fall apart, as it inevitably will, so will that friendship or partnership because maintaining that false identity becomes a job. 

You can never go wrong being your authentic self.  The ones who are meant to be in your life will. Don't fall for a fraud and don't be one either.  Love yourself and others will follow!
