Good morning everyone! Happy Wednesday. For all the times in life that we have succeeded, we have also experienced failure. To get to where we want to be involves work and time. We need the willingness and tenacity to stick with our plans and goals. Isn't it wonderful when it happens. Anything you really want is always worth waiting for especially if we have had to struggle even a little bit.
Not one of us enjoys a struggle. To struggle and face obstacles is frustrating but it is something we all do at one time or another. My question to you is this. When someone you know has achieved something they have wanted for a very long or even short time, are you truly happy for them or wishing it was you who was wearing their shoes.
We are all in this game together. The game being life. We all want and need someone to turn to in times of despair. You don't have to be someone's best friend to be supportive. It's the right thing to do! Today's quote is, "Be unified in your love for humanity for those who struggle and succeed - there will be a time when those who succeed will also struggle." Struggle is universal. It is not delegated to those with blonde hair or ones who like pizza.
This is the reason all us humans need to form a unified front! It makes no difference that someone is a banker or hair dresser or baker. We all go through good times and bad, through struggle and success and who doesn't want that pat on the back when success knocks on your front door! On the other hand, who doesn't want to be consoled during a rough patch.
We all want these things. Support your friends and your loved ones but offer the same to an acquaintance. One day that acquaintance can turn out to be your best friend!
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

INNER PEACE IS ALL YOU NEED
Good morning everyone. I hope the message of yesterday's blog stuck with you. Have you said and accepted praise from yourself? If you didn't, stop reading. Tell Eyeore to go home and give yourself a kind word.
Today's quote relates well to yesterday's. When we cease that war within ourselves it is such a relief. Our shoulders are no longer weighed down by the burden of negativity and doubt but replaced with calm and peace. Today's quote is, "All the money in the world - the material possessions can never be a replacement for inner peace - for if you lack that you have nothing."
Interesting that this comes a few weeks after that $1.6 billion lottery ticket. No I didn't win but even if I did I would still be writing my blog, having Reiki sessions, leading Guided Meditations and making dinner. I just would. It is all part of who I am. I don't know who won. I don't know if they are ecstatic or overwhelmed by this sudden burden.
After the initial, "oh wow, I never have to do anything EVER again," comes the reality that you really never do have to do anything again. Personally I think that much money is a burden. Now you have to do something with it. It would be overwhelming. You could buy anything you want except inner peace? That can never be bought.
I'm not saying that the only way to have inner peace is to be broke. No no. Not at all. What I am saying is that money cannot buy happiness no matter how much we think it would. I am not even talking about being happy but content. Are you content with yourself. Can you look at a sunset or sunrise, (take your pick) and realize it is one of the most exquisite sights to witness?
Can you appreciate the crunch of leaves underfoot without thinking of your to do list? If you can then you are getting close to what inner peace feels like. It is the ability to treasure the small things as well as the large. To know that the feeling from a bright sunny day will leave you with more satisfaction than another pair of shoes.
Material things can indeed bring us joy but are no match for inner peace for it is inner peace that will satisfy your spirit and your soul.
Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

UNITING YOURSELF WITH YOURSELF
Good morning everyone! How are you all on this Monday? Today happens to be Veterans Day. I don't think a lot of you reading this right now are veterans or served in any wars but it doesn't mean we shouldn't honor those who did. Whether the decision was voluntary or not it still remains one of the biggest sacrifices anyone can make.
There are times in our lives when we all are faced with difficult decisions and hard choices. One of those decisions should be easy. Decide to say something nice about yourself. Admire your outfit. Compliment your smile. I could feel all of you cringing because that's not what we do. We tell ourselves we look fat. We look for something to be wrong rather than right.
Today's quote is, "End the civil war within yourself - let the side that puts you down unite with the side that gives you praise and let that side be the one who wins." We are veterans in our own war. The one where we find it almost impossible to shower ourselves with praise and if we do it usually comes with a side of self-deprecation. Guilty!
I find it very difficult to both accept praise. If you are not one of those people then congratulations and I mean that sincerely. We work hard to be the best we can yet it is often our own selves that ruin it by putting ourselves down. If you have accomplished something you are proud of it should be acknowledged and applauded!
Don't fight with yourself when you have achieved something even if that something is having your hair come out just the way you like it. Any and every event carries significance if you can attach a feeling to it. When you feel that inner Eyeore begin to emerge, stop him dead in his tracks.
Stop looking for what's wrong and see clearly all that is right. No one should like a good fight. Even that sentence is an oxymoron as there is no such thing. Don't go to war with yourself. Find that white flag and raise it high in the air. It is finally time for a truce!

THROUGH SOLITUDE - LEARN TO KNOW YOURSELF
Good morning everyone. The last day of the work week. Some of us including myself work on Saturdays but if you love what you do, it isn't work! Not everyone works on Saturdays. Some of us use that day to catch up on chores inside and outside of the house. All those things we can't get to because our day time hours are spent at our jobs.
As much as our passion drives us to continue doing what we love, we still need some down time. We all need time to relax. Neither body nor mind can continuosly move and think. Sometimes I wonder if it a status thing when people say they can't relax and must always be busy. Nonsense. If you are one of those people is it that maybe you are afraid not just to be alone but alone with your thoughts.
Today's quote is, "Solitude is not lonliness but a chance to get acquainted with your genuine self." It makes being alone sound so much better because it is true. Solitude is not lonliness at all. Solitude is time for us. It is the time we need to think. To work out problems. To plan. Or, to just be and be yourself without having to put on any airs.
Depending upon the situation and who we are with we play pretend. We are not the same person with our boss as we are with our spouse. If we are sitting before a judge in court we act very differently than when we are out with our friends but if you are by yourself, there is no acting. There is no pretend game to play because you know the real you.
If you haven't had the opportunity to be alone and seclude yourself from daily life, I highly recommend it. Take some time this weekend to be alone and get to know the real you, your genuine wonderful self.
Have a wonderful Friday everyone! ~Love, Amy

DON'T BE DEFINED BY MISTAKES OF THE PAST
Good morning everyone. Have you ever watched a bird in flight? It's really a wonderful sight to behold. Children always say they wish they could fly. As we get older we stop verbalizing that wish and begin to acknowledge the realization that flying is something we will never be able to do. Not physically anyway!
Birds are the ultimate signifier of freedom. Watching them soar across the sky gives me an incredible feeling of peace and never ceases to be magical. In this respect I wish we could all be like birds soaring with joy and determination through our lives but we don't do that. We let old hurts get in our way. We allow anger, resentment and regret to stop us in our tracks. We tighten our grip to all that does not serve us as if letting go would change us to someone we would not recognize and who is no longer familiar.
Why do we do that? Why is it that we want to be defined by all that negativity? How great would it be if only we could let go. Today's quote is, "Do not let your identity be tied to past mistakes and old sorrow - you are so much more than sufferings gone by - acknowledge them and gently release them." We all do this and why is that?
For some of us it is habit. Again, it is what we've always done so we think to ourselves, why stop now. For others it remains the perfect excuse and the reason we are not where we want to be. By blaming your past, it becomes your excuse. You follow me? We become so tied to our past mistakes and hurts that that is the only thing we identify with. Logically we know this makes no sense but we get stuck and don't know how to let go.
Here is how to let go. Desire! That's right. I know! Sounds so simple but that is step number one. In order to let go you need the desire to do so. In our heart of hearts we all want what will create the best outcome for us. By clinging to our past we will never move forward to our future and achieve all that we want for ourselves. We know that logically but we get stuck emotionally.
Well everyone, I'm here to tell you it is high time for change and logical thinking. Loosen that grip and let go. Release that anger, resentment, regret and whatever else you are holding onto with a death grip. Stretch out those fingers and let the blood flow to those white knuckles. It may be hard at first but it is not impossible. With desire you can do anything, even soar like an eagle!

THE VALUE IN DAILY LIVING
Good morning everyone. Today is the middle of the week. Wednesday is always the middle of the week. That's how it has been set up. Nothing new and never a surprise. Right in between Tuesday and Thursday and guess what? It will happen again and again and again and again.
There are other things we do over and over but it doesn't mean it isn't important. We have to eat so we make dinner nightly. We want friends so we brush our teeth. The things we do may seem mundane but they also have worth.
Today's quote is, "Every day has value and meaning and importance." Earth shattering events may not occur on a daily basis at home or at work but that does not belittle the value of the day. Maybe you helped out a co-worker and while what you did was not a big deal for you, it was a tremendous help to them.
Maybe the coffee you prepared this morning was perfect! Not too strong, not too weak, the exact amount of milk and the temperature was just how you like it. Isn't that a great way to start the day! It just so happened that I made a mean cup this morning and so right there the day was off and running to a great start.
I love talking about food but let's go back to the part where I talked about helping a co-worker. Sometimes we do things for others and don't realize the value in it. Sometimes just a smile at someone can make all the difference in the world for that person. It is these seemingly little things that are not so little.
Maybe a friend of yours is going through a rough patch and you allowed that person to vent and to talk. Maybe you didn't solve their problem. Maybe you didn't utter a word. Maybe you just listened. That act alone may have changed both their mood and outlook. How can you not see value in that? Take nothing for granted for no act is ever too small to have meaning and value!

THE POWER OF FAITH WILL CARRY YOU THROUGH
Good morning to you all. Today is Tuesday. All day as they say. Has anything been weighing heavily on your mind? I know the week is fairly new but worries of yesterday and last week stick with us. When you worry do you hold onto it or are you able to let it go?
Before I began meditating I was the queen of worry, able to sink into the depths of despair fairly easily. I know! Right?! Me! But as I said, that was before meditating. This is not to say that I never worry about things. Of course I do and you know the answer. I'm waiting. Right! Because I'm human.
We as humans worry. If you think about the state of the world there is a lot to worry about. But ask yourself a question right this moment. What is worrying going to do for you? What will be accomplished by your worrying? We all know the answer to that. Absolutely nothing. What is bigger than worry is faith. The power of faith is huge.
Today's quote is, "To be consumed by worry is to release the power of faith which is so much stronger." And let me add, SO much stronger. Worry is what comes naturally. It's just easier. It's not always easy to think that everything will work out when you are in the midst of a crisis and at one time or another, we have gone through one.
In the end events take their course and everything works out the way it was meant to. Even if something appears to be an awful result, given time, you will see that whatever happened was for your benefit. We also worry about the people in our lives and by that I mean our children. Who doesn't worry about their kids?
In the book, A Manual for living comfortable in the Cosmos, Emmanuel's Book (an absolute MUST read) was a passage about faith. The passage said there is no need for worry as our souls know what to do. You could also say what a bunch of nonsense. Let me tell you why I agree with Emmanuel. I agree because faith pairs perfectly with trust. The wine and cheese of the spiritual world.
Do you trust your kids? I mean really trust them? Not saying they don't or won't do stupid things but a trust beyond the obvious. Do you trust that they know and understand right from wrong and that they know their own limitations. That is the kind of trust I am talking about. If you trust that your children know those things then you can stop worrying and trade in that worry for faith.
The souls they have been given know their limitations. The souls they have been given know right from wrong. Break the habit of worry because that's all it is. A habit. It is what we are used to. Trade in that habit for a new one. Faith! Have faith that your children will make mistakes and learn from them and have faith that life will take you on a bumpy yet ultimately amazing ride!
