ACTION AND INACTION TAKE THE RIGHT ONE

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Action or inaction.  We can choose only one.   We can do something or do nothing but just know that even doing nothing is doing something.

Today's quote is, "Love is measured in many ways two of them are action and inaction."  You can say you care about someone or something but how do you show love?  My husband loves to listen to Will Shortz' puzzle on Sundays so I make sure not to start a conversation when it is about to begin.  My boys eat all the time.  They know I love them because I cook and cook and cook.  My daughter?  She likes to be left alone.  How do I show her love?  I adhere to her wishes when she wears her do not disturb sign.

I don't know about you but I also love my friends and the way I show it is to be there.  To be present in times of need.  A phone call or text is a simple way to show love and so is saying absolutely nothing at all.  Remember that inaction is also action and that sometimes doing nothing is exactly what you need to do!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

PUT YOUR HEART IN CHARGE

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  We humans were born with  organs that allow us to function, thrive and live!  The top two in my opinion are our heart and our brain.  The one that pumps liquid gold throughout our bodies and ticks 24 hours a day without having to be set and the one that works like a giant computer to process information it receives from our senses and body.  Interestingly with our brains we can think and feel emotion but wait, isn't that what our heart is all about?

We all know what Scarecrow wanted, right?  A brain.  All he wanted was a brain so he could think and be smart but little did he know that his heart did all the thinking for him.  His decisions were made out of love for Dorothy and he did it without any brains at all.

Today's quote is, "Let your heart lead your desire for with too much thought you can convince yourself out of anything."  You know that phrase, "just go for it!?"  It is what people tell us when we mull over scenarios of how something might work but we usually end up talking ourselves out of them
because our cautions brains come in to stop us.

.
I'm not saying that caution is a bad thing but sometimes we just need to throw that caution to the wind and go with what is in our hearts.  I know what you are thinking.  Easier said than done.  What about responsibilities?  What about them?  We are multi taskers.  Study after study has said that you cannot multi task but I say, YES YOU CAN!  We do it all the time and contrary to what "they" say, we do it well.

Caution is what you use when you cross a busy street.  Be bold and take your life in your hands by listening to your heart.  We all have one go round in this game.  Make it the best one you can.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

GOING WHERE THE WIND TAKES YOU

Good morning everyone and Happy Tuesday.  I hope you are enjoying the beginning of what is always a transitional month.  October days are warm and balmy but also breezy and cool.  Lawns are still green but beginning to be blanketed by leaves in various shades of red, yellow and orange.

I love looking up at the branches and watching them fall, scattering wherever the wind takes them.  Today's quote is, "A leaf does not question the direction it is taken by the wind."  Do you ever wish you could be more like the leaf of a maple tree landing in a spot designated by a fall breeze?

Determination is great!  Really!  Its fabulous to have determination and a destination but what happens when what you thought was going to happen doesn't?  That my friends is an open invitation for panic and anxiety but it doesn't have to be.

This is when trust comes in.  I have always been a planner leaving little room for deviation from planning when to have children to the careers I thought I was supposed to have!  Ha!  Did you find the key word in the previous sentence?

To an extent, I am still a planner but time has taught me that sometimes control is completely out of my hands and that trust is far more important and beneficial than creating a plan.  Sometimes we think we want something but given enough time, we realize we don't.  Sometimes we think we know what is in our best interest but as time passes we are so grateful that whatever it was didn't pan out.

I've said this before and I will say it again here and now.  Trust the process.  Trust that there is a higher power looking out for you.  Continue to persevere and be as determined as you ever were but at the same time allow the wind to blow your hair and change your part.  You might find you like it even better and that indeed, there is more out there for you than you could ever have imagined!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

RIGHT LEFT AND CENTER - Thursday, 10/1

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  How's your peripheral vison?   When someone says what they saw out of the corner of their eye they are talking about peripheral vison which can be a life saver if you are crossing a busy street.

What about if you are making a decision?  What you see straight ahead of you might be obvious but if you let your sight wander in different directions your world may open up in a whole new way.

Today's quote is, "When looking ahead allow yourself to tilt left right and beyond your scope of vision."  Let me tell you an awesome story.  One that would never have happened had I literally not turned my head to the left.

I spent the month of July touring California with college friends the summer of my junior year.  Another friend had gone across the country with her boyfriend and while we thought it would be fun to meet up we had no way of being in touch as this was pre cell phone days.

As luck would have it we were all in the same town without knowing it.  My friend and her boyfriend were sitting on a bench while I was walking on a path.  Rather than looking straight ahead I wanted to see everything and so I looked right and then left and OMG!  There they were!  The two people I thought I would never see.  We ended up camping out together and having an amazing time.
Although my trip still would have been great, turning my head made it that much better.  Of course this is a literal reason why you need to look in every direction.  This applies to your life as well.  Look beyond the obvious and what is obvious to you.  Taking a turn in a different direction will take  you places you never thought you would go.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

DON'T BE A KNOW IT ALL

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday.  I have a survey for you.  The "topper" or the "know it all?"  Which one irritates you more?  That's a hard one right!?  While a "topper" can certainly be annoying the "know it all" is the winner for me.

The "know it all" knows it all.  There is nothing you can teach them and nothing they can learn.  Quite sad actually.  One of the greatest things in life is the ability to acquire new knowledge by being open to learning new things.

Truly sad that not everyone shares that sentiment.  My perception is that a "know it all" is a very insecure person who needs to feel important and the way in which they do this is to fake it and if you fake it with authority, rarely are you questioned.  However, they are still the losers.

Today's quote is, "If you don't know stop pretending you do - trade false boasting for an opportunity to learn and acquire new knowledge."  I don't understand why anyone would pretend to be knowledgeable about something they really have no expertise in yet people do it all the time.

If you partake in that behavior, STOP!  It doesn't make you look smarter.  In fact you miss an opportunity for growth.  One thing I will say for sure.  I will never grow taller but I can grow smarter and so can you!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

SEIZE THE DAY

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday.  Did you start your day with gratitude today?  Honestly I don't know anyone who is grateful when their alarm goes off.  It is probably one of the most unwelcome sounds we hear but when you do throw off those covers and plant your feet on the floor do you allow the morning light to greet you or do you look down?

The first thing I do after turning my alarm off is look outside to see what kind of day it is.  Sunny, cloudy, rainy, in truth it really doesn't matter.  What matters is that this day is brand new.

Today's quote is, "Such a gift is a rising sun and a brand new day - seize each moment - this is  your chance to begin again."  We are too caught up in ourselves to recognize a new beginning even though it happens day after day.  Our minds have already told us to embrace the same old.

Daily life is often routine.  Get up, go to work, run some errands, go home, have dinner, go to bed and when tomorrow comes, repeat but I know there are ideas swimming in your head that you are waiting for just the right moment to act upon.

The problem is we wait for tomorrow because tomorrow will always be there.  Simultaneously that is both a good and bad thing.  Yes there will be more tomorrows but which one will you choose?  How many tomorrows will pass you by before you decide which tomorrow will be your new beginning?  That is entirely up to you.

Seize the day my friends.  Rub that sleep out of your eyes and greet the day with a warm embrace.  Realize how lucky you are because every day is a brand new day~one where you get to begin all over again!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

LOVE YOURESELF - HEAL YOURSELF

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday.  There are two kinds of pain we experience, emotional and physical.  Depending on what is wrong with us, once we seek out the proper professionals we can take care of our bad back, bad knees or sore muscles.

How do you handle emotional pain?  The kind that requires more than a band aid and bacitracin.  What do you do when you are sad?  Although it is not good to wallow in the past, old wounds and emotional pain take time to heal.  Is there a proper amount of time?  Only you would know.

Today's quote is, "Tend to your wounds - to past pain and sadness - give yourself love and time to heal for when you do you will find a strength within you and a rebirth of your spirit and soul."  When we are crippled by emotional pain we need not go back in time to what we should have done or should have said.  In the moment of heart break, melancholy and grief, what is needed is love and care.  Love and care for ourselves.

We nurture relationships, our children and even our plants but for some reason we leave ourselves out.  If we are not properly nurtured, what good are we to others?  For emotional strength and well being, we need to prioritize our needs and if that means putting yourself first on the list then that is what you need to do!

Never dismiss your grief and sadness.  Sit with it and give yourself all the time and love you need to heal.  Know that in time you will heal not just your mind but your spirit and soul and once again, you will be whole.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy
