THE GLUE HOLDING US ALL

Good morning everyone!  Happy Tuesday.  Even though it's Tuesday, I'm feeling a little Monday today.  You know that feeling right?  We've all had a great weekend doing a million things or nothing at all and then the inevitable happens.  Its Sunday night and we deflate like a Macy's Day balloon.  The last thing we want to do is be woken up by a ringing alarm.  After the initial shock, we get up and start our routine, and realize Monday isn't quite so bad, and Tuesday will be just fine by the way.  When we reach our respective work places we can relive our weekends via conversation.

Camaraderie at our work place is important.  Co-workers are a support system for each other and together create a positive atmosphere.  One where you can vent one minute and laugh the next.  You can say that your co-workers are the glue of the workplace.  I like to think of all of us as co-workers on this earth with one goal in mind.  Love.  Finding love, real true love.  That is our goal.

Today's quote is, "True love and compassion is the universal glue that holds us together."  We are in desperate need of love and compassion.  It is difficult to write this and ignore the hostility in the world but we also need to see what all this hostility is doing.  It is tearing us apart when the truth is we all want love and in order to receive that love we must find the compassion in our hearts so that love can be shared and distributed wherever it is needed.

We are more alike than different.  Tall, short, bald or brunette, vegan or not, love and compassion is a universal desire and the glue that bonds us as one.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

THE WILL TO SUCCEED

Good morning all!  Happy Thursday.  Are you one of those who subsist on coffee and can't even think of food until about 8 or 9:00 or are you the type that wakes up absolutely ravenous?  I've encountered both.  Days where coffee is all I need to get going and days where if I don't eat something fast I feel as though I might pass out.

How do you feel about your life at this very moment?  Are you satisfied?  Are you comfortable just existing in your so called lot at the moment or do you have that itch to move from complacency?  Its never easy but only you can decide when to take that giant leap forward.

Today's quote is, "Common among us is the hunger for success - uncommon is the will and determination to get there."  We all want success.  We all want more, however; we don't all have the same tenacity and will to reach our desired destination.  Some will find it easier to give up, preferring to imagine the look of success rather than the feel of it.  This is not a criticism.  This is a fact.  What is common amongst us is the boredom that eventually consumes us as we go about our day to day dreaming of what if and knowing there is more out there for us.

Just because you work hard does not mean your goals will be reached.  It takes more than work.  It takes desire, visualization, prayer, (yes prayer!), will and guts!  Don't just hunger for success -want it, see it, pray for it, go for it and make it happen!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

MISTAKES - I'VE MADE A FEW AND THEN I GREW

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday and welcome to September.  Many if not most of you have been working all summer.  I of course have been busy with Reiki sessions, Meditation classes and so much more.  As of today I am back to my day job.  Summer comes and goes like the flashing light on the tail end of a lightening bug.  I miss those little guys.  They are my absolute favorite bugs but as I come back to my day job their image will be in my mind.

I did something else this summer that I hadn't done is a while.  I baked!  I baked pies and cookies and experimented with other types of desserts.  Out of  three children only one was home for the summer and she is the one who is ever so mindful about what goes into her mouth.  I had to convince her that mindful eating means that you can have your cake and eat it too!  Just not the whole thing.  I used to bake quite often when my kids were little.  I could whip up cookies and pie crust with little effort but when you stop doing something for a while you forget a detail here and there.

Indeed I forgot a key ingredient in my first pie crust but remembered for the second one.  Not an earth shattering mistake but all that delicious fruit would have been wasted had I forgotten that key ingredient again.  We make mistakes all the time.  Some are small enough to breeze through.  Some are life changing.  That phrase right there is the key to learning.  Life changing!  If you have made a life changing mistake perhaps it wasn't such a bad mistake after all.

Today's quote is, "Accept you mistakes with grace - we all make them - learn from them and grow from them."  Unless you get nothing out of them, a mistake is never a waste.  Look at all the time I spent talking about pie crust.  I love pie and I was really looking forward to eating it but when it was out of the oven it was inedible.  That mistake was never made again.  Life changing?  No.  But our tummies were happier the second time around.

In my life I have made mistakes that at one time I wished I had never made.  Reflecting back, those awful mistakes enabled me to grow in ways I would never have grown had I not made them.  As awful as they can be, mistakes are part of your tool box.   The one that you will both learn and grow from so that they are never repeated.

DO NOT RSVP

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  I love a party!  The best ones are when you meet new and interesting people.  The best ones have great food and beverages.  The best ones are filled with joy, fun and infectious laughter.  Those are the parties I like going to.  We've all been to those awful boring parties too.  The ones where we want to leave as soon as we arrive.

Parties I try to avoid are pity parties but at least those are made for one and you don't have to stay very long.  The worst parties of all are blame parties.  The ones no one asked you to help plan but one you have been summoned to.  Today's quote is "To lay blame is bad enough - don't send out invitations to an innocent party."  If I have described your friend you know exactly what I am talking about.  That friend of yours who leaves you exhausted while spewing out blame for all that is wrong in their life.

Blame is another topic I have covered in depth before but every so often you need to know you are not alone and that you are not a bad person for no longer wanting to indulge this so called friend in their tiresome rants.  It takes courage and guts to admit when we are wrong.  No one likes to admit that.  But if things don't work out the way we planned what we need to do is reflect on how we could have done whatever it is, differently.

We are responsible for our actions.  We are responsible for the decisions we make, the money we spend, the foods we eat, the people we allow into our lives and everything else that we do.  We will make good decisions and bad decisions.  We will hopefully learn and grow from every experience in our lives.  As far as the one who decides blame is their best friend?  You don't have to partake.  Let them live happily or unhappily ever after!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love. Amy

LISTEN AND LEARN

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  My grandparents passed many years ago but I am lucky that both my mom and dad are still with me.  As I have grown older with them they have both opened up more about themselves and what they have gone through in their lives.  This is especially true of my mom.  Mothers and daughters of all ages have a unique relationship.  We fight, we get on each other's nerves but in the end, there is nothing a mother wouldn't do for her daughter and that is certainly true of mine.

In these later years my mom has shared many stories with me that as a younger woman I was not prepared to hear.  We put our parents on pedestals of sorts and fail to acknowledge the obstacles they needed to push aside and the struggles that held them back.  Even as adults, we often refuse to see them as the human beings they are.  If you are one of the lucky ones and your parents still inhabit this earth, listen to them.  Listen to their stories, their struggles and how they overcame their hardships.

Today's quote is, "With a humble heart - listen to the stories of others and let them teach you and show you compassion."  The best teachers are the ones who taught us and often those teachers are your parents.  The first adults you came into contact with.  They were there to love you, guide you, protect you and teach you.  You may not have wanted to listen to them but as you got older you realized they were right.  I think the best gift I got my mom was a refrigerator magnet that said, "Your mother was right about everything!"  Indeed she was and still is.

Experience brings knowledge and that knowledge can come from anyone who has crossed our path, especially our parents.  Never underestimate the stories one has to share.  Quite often there is a lesson buried somewhere in that story.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy

PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  Go go go!  That's all we ever seem to do.  Relaxing is hard as our minds are usually consumed by the next thing we need to do although I've become very good at it.  I'm positive that meditation has helped me in my ability to be in complete stillness.  It's wonderful.  I love to be outside with Mia, both of us sitting on my mossy lawn enjoying the summer air.

When I come back to myself my list begins.  First on my agenda is giving gratitude to all my blessings, (of which there are many!)  Second on the list is giving gratitude to myself for all the hard work I've done to get me to where I am.  Does that shock you?  It shouldn't.  There is nothing wrong and everything right with being your own champion.  Today's quote is, "Turn around to admire and acknowledge the person you once were - the one who helped  you become who you are and be there to greet them upon their arrival."

No matter where you are today in that dream of yours you are further than you were yesterday.  We are all so hard on ourselves.  Self-degradation and criticism comes far to easily from our mouths but what should be acknowledged is how much growth we have experienced even if it is ever so slight.

Think of yourself as a beautiful flower that blossoms from a tiny bud.  Little by little that bud expands and and out come those gorgeous petals of red, pink, orange, yellow, blue, lavender, green and purple.  The process from bud to bloom takes effort and is both a miraculous and stunning sight to behold.  The effort it takes you to blossom and bloom should be met with accolades, recognition and praise.  Admire your efforts, acknowledge your efforts and greet this magnificent person you have become!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy

A DIFFERENCE OF PERSPECTIVE

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  What is the first thing you see when you open your eyes?  Depending on the time of year I either see absolute darkness or the sun coming through my window.  I prefer the sun although pure darkness can be very peaceful.  It is all the way you look at it though, isn't it.  A difference of perspective is what makes some view the darkness with dread and daybreak with hope.  Different eyes see different things.  How do your eyes see a storm?  Can you find the beauty or do you only see destruction.

Today's quote is, "Ahh the beauty with which we can view the world can also be seen through eyes of jealousy and ugliness stinging our eyes and burning our soul."  Let's for a moment talk about Facebook shall we.  We've seen beauty splashed all over the place from the "love of my life," to the "best vacation ever."  Who wouldn't be a little envious of a beach vacation in the middle of February but do you think to yourself, lucky them or I hope they get a really bad sunburn.

When you see a post of someone's success are you truly happy for that person or do you secretly hope they fail?  Be honest.  Its hard to be honest but its also hard not to acknowledge the river of jealousy that sometimes courses through our veins.  Jealousy and envy cause frowns to form on otherwise beautiful mouths.  There is enough out there for everyone.  Just because someone has found success doesn't mean you can't find it too.  Now turn that frown upside down and be happy for your friend sitting on that lounge chair.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy
