Good morning everyone! Happy Thursday. What does the word vulnerable mean to you. What does it make you think of? There are different ways we can be vulnerable; physically, economically, socially and even environmentally. Sometimes our vulnerability has to do with circumstances and heredity. Other times it is our sensitive nature that triggers a certain type of vulnerability.
The word itself can trigger different emotions depending on how we see it. Today's quote is, "Vulnerability is often confused with weakness - it is an opening of your heart - not a character flaw." In the area of romance most women want a man who is vulnerable and easily able to share and show his emotions while the manly man looks upon that behavior as weak.
Why would anyone think sharing emotions is a weakness? When we share emotions we show that we are human and that we feel. Everyone feels and by holding back and holding them in all you are doing is hurting yourself. We know that stress causes illness and it can be very stressful to hold in feelings of anger and sadness when what you need to do is let them out and be done with them.
Being vulnerable is being open. When you are open with your feelings you can help others by sharing and recognizing similar situations where you may have been hurt. In sharing these situations one cannot help but become a more compassionate human being. Vulnerability is not weakness or a character flaw but a strength and character trait one should be proud of.
Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! ~Love, Amy
