Good morning. Sometimes I wonder if anyone out there actually takes some of my advice. It is important for you to know that I am human. I've had my share of hurdles to overcome. I've had days that are amazing and days that suck no matter how positive I try and view them.
Sometimes we don't want to take advice because we think we know better or that it makes us look weak. Sometimes it depends on who we hear it from as well. I have a teenage daughter. Need I say more? For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, let me explain. Of course according to a teenager, (and it doesn't have to be a girl) you the mom know nothing! Absolutely nothing!
BUT! That's not true. As parents we know a lot just for the mere fact that we have lived longer and most likely experienced what our children are going through too. Your children may seek advice away from you but will eventually come back and listen to you. Today's quote is, "We can be told the same thing over and over and never hear but when we do it's like magic."
When we make mistakes we don't always want to be confronted with them. There goes that weakness again. We don't always want to know what we did wrong or even if we did something wrong. When that person you love and trust points out why your repeated actions give you the same undesired results do you listen? Maybe you listen but the real question is do you hear!
Hearing and listening are two completely different things. Right moms! We will all tell our children and the ones we love the same things again and again but when they actually hear you it will be magic to their ears and your heart!

Good morning everyone. Are you one of those people who start thinking even before you open your eyes? If you are, do you think wonderful thoughts or anything but. Before getting out of bed I take a deep breath and just lay still for a moment. Our days are filled with thoughts and that moment of quiet is very important to me.
What do you do if you find those negative thoughts creeping in? It's hard to shut the door. Today's quote is, "When negative thoughts enter your mind - visualize them on a raft floating out to sea." While that might seem ridiculously simplistic, I am not joking. It is like choosing a mind set. Are you going to be positive or negative?
Is that situation you are dreading going to be awful or maybe not so bad? Meditation has helped me so much in my ability to control anxiety. Yes, friends. I get anxious too but my practice has helped me put things into perspective. As you all know, my meditations are guided but before beginning a journey, I have everyone place their negative thoughts in a giant white box.
Imagining anger, fear, worry, (to name a few) placed inside a box, gets them out of your head. I love water! Any water! Could be the ocean or a lake. Water calms me. I grew up in a beach town and my back yard looks out to a reservoir. I find it very easy to visualize negativity floating out to sea. Do you like to ski? Visualize those negative thoughts racing down the mountain on their own skis.
Negative thoughts weigh us down and life is just too busy to carry around that extra weight! Besides, how would we ever fit into our skinny jeans!

Have a wonderful Monday everyone! ~Love, Amy
Good morning! Welcome to Friday and hopefully a week well done. Were you able to accomplish all you set out to? If you didn't this week, there is always next week. Busy can describe all of us. I'm a big lister, not only in my head but on paper. I like to write down all the things I need to do because it helps me remember.
We can approach life the exact same way. Every month there is a new moon and on that day is the best time to write all the things we want to see in our lives. Today's quote is, "Refine your vision and see your life as you want it to be." Physically writing things down helps us to actually see what we want.
It is easy to be all over the place in your head but when you write things down it becomes clearer. Life is wonderful and amazing but remember, you are the one who has the biggest role in what you want it to look like. Write down as many things as you want and then narrow it down. By doing this you are narrowing down the things that are truly important to you.
This does not mean you should desire less, it means focus on what really matters to you. By writing it down, your vision will be 20/20!

Have a wonderful Friday everyone and a great weekend! ~Love, Amy
Good morning and a very happy Thursday to you. I recently met with a friend and together we spoke about how important it is to be where you are when you are there. Does that make sense? Here is an example. If you are on the beach, be on the beach and not in your head.
If you are constantly in your thoughts how can you enjoy the very place where you are at the moment. Most of us are filled with thoughts all the time. We are incessantly talking to ourselves about our day, our future, questioning decisions made, etc. Today's quote is, "Give yourself time - time to be alone with your thoughts - it is in that silence your questions may be answered."
Now does what I said make sense? I can be on a plane with my family on the way to a vacation, turn to my husband and ask him where should we go next. Clearly I'm not even enjoying the plane ride. According to my mind I've already been on vacation and am already onto the next. Not a way to be or to live.
I often stress how important it is to be in nature and I am always describing my walks with Mia but the truth is, very rarely have I been there. I may be outdoors but I am only in my head. When that was pointed out to me I realized how true it was and I began to make a huge effort to quiet that chatter in my mind.
There are many things I question and many things I have questions about but instead of talking to myself during my walks, I have made a huge effort to be quiet and silent. Not surprisingly, clarity took over and my questions were able to be answered without me having to furrow my brow!
Wherever it is you are, be in that place!

Good morning everyone! It's hump day. Middle of the week although due to the Monday holiday, the week makes us feel a bit off. The good thing is that we are all closer to yet another weekend. I just realized how interesting it is that I always speak of the weekends as though I sit around and do nothing. Weekends are just as packed as the week but I have more freedom of choice.
It is this way with most of us. We go where and when we need to during the week but the weekend, as busy as it may be has more flexibility. In that flexibility are you able to take some time for yourself? Are you able to nourish your soul via a walk, meditation or a nice hot soak? Are you able to get in touch with your emotions while you are busy doing your errands?
Some of us walk around hurting from things in our past but we often find it easier to bury them rather than confronting them. Today's quote is, "Give shelter to your inner child who may have been wounded in the past and surround him or her with love." The deeper you bury your feelings the stronger the eruption will be. The love needed for that inner child will need uninterrupted time to begin the healing process.
There are so many ways we can occupy ourselves but sometimes what we are doing is simply distracting ourselves from facing past hurts. Issues we have in adulthood most likely stemmed from our childhood. Love that child within you and acknowledge the hurt that may have taken place. Nourish your soul not only with the suggestions above but begin with the being you started out as. That little girl or little boy who never left you.
Do not dwell on what you didn't receive as a child. Give it to yourself now.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! ~Love, Amy
Good morning everyone! Today is the day. I'm back at my day job. OK me, take a deep breath. It will all be fine. At this moment I know someone who is on a wonderful vacation and yes, I wish I was too. But wait! I just had two months to myself.
Today's quote is, "Regret, envy, fear, jealousy, poisons of the worst kind - let them wash away with relief, gratitude and wonder." If you think back on certain events in your life I'm sure there are things you regret. It's even in a song, "Regrets, I've had a few." Some of us have had more than a few but what is not in the song is that part that says these regrets have brought you to where you are now. These are the regrets that have helped you grow. Does anyone out there not want to grow? What? I can't hear you! That's what I thought.
Envy, jealousy? I said in my first paragraph that I wish I was on vacation but how many people get two months to themselves every year? Why would I begrudge someone their vacation especially if I had no idea how badly they needed it. Fear? Absolutely. We all have had our share of fear in our lives but we can take that fear and turn it into something much more positive.
During my guided meditations I talk about taking fear and turning it into wonder and excitement and releasing that feeling of dread. If you expect something awful it will manifest for you. Regret, envy, fear, jealousy are all poisons of a sort. None of these words represent anything good and you don't even feel good saying them.
Next time a negative word pops into your head, exchange it immediately for a positive one. In other words, try you best to look at the bright side no matter how dim. Feelings and emotions are something we all have and not every day is going to be filled with wonder and excitement but if we can really really try to choose a different approach, our days will be much better and we will all be much happier!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! ~Love, Amy
Good morning everyone. Today is it. The very last official day of summer. The blessing is that we have so many more summers ahead of us but the reality is that this one is over. I hope it was wonderful for all of you. I can't lie. Even with all the rain storms, humidity and heat, I will miss it dearly.
Fall is not officially here until mid September but it is a good time to start thinking ahead to any changes you want to make. Leave the past in the past. Don't perseverate on what was but focus on what will be. Fall is a wonderful time to make that fresh start as the air begins to clear and the scent around you has even changed. Don't you just love a crisp autumn morning?
Today's quote is, "Vow to be true to yourself and persevere through any storm - it will eventually clear." When you are in the midst of a crisis and things don't seem to be going your way or any way for that matter that is the exact moment when you shouldn't give up. When you need to find your inner strength to keep going.
I know it is hard. Of course I know. I'm human, I get it. We all have gone through hell at some point in our lives and some of us may be right in the very center of an awful hell at this moment. That storm could involve friendships, career decisions, romantic partners and bad situations where we see no way out.
Is it easier to remain friends with that person who only pretends to care about you? Sometimes it is but then where does that leave you? Have you chosen a career because you were pushed into it? If you are unhappy there why would you stay? Being true to yourself doesn't mean you tell the world to go to hell.
Being true to yourself means that you value yourself more and if fighting your way through those winds of change is what you need to do, you do it
. Storms subside and time heals. When that storm is over the wind is gone and the sun is stronger than ever!
