TO HELP IS A VIRTUE

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Earlier in the week I addressed change and how we all have the ability to create change in our lives.  What we don't have the ability to do is change someone else.  Try as we might, we can't change their habits, their beliefs or the way they put on their socks.

So many people enter into relationships thinking that they can change the other person.  A huge mistake as many of us reading this are older, wiser,  married or divorced and know this to be true. The first rule when getting involved with someone is never think you can change them because quite simply, you can't.

Today's quote is, "Help someone always - change someone never."   A relationship could be a love interest or a good friend.  We all try our best to help those important people in our lives but you cannot change someone and here's a tip.  It's not your job!  Nope!  Not your job.  It is not your job to change their self-destructive, narcissistic, stubborn ways.  

As a friend, you can gently point these things out but unless those ears are willing to hear, they won't.  Love and friendship are about acceptance.  Most things we learn to overlook but if there are serious issues unwilling to be addressed then we have no right in thinking our wisdom will be acknowledged.  Tolerate what you can but never ever expect someone will change because you want them to!
