NOT AT THE MOMENT

Good morning, everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Are you one of those people who have a hard time saying no?  It's nice to be nice.  It's nice to want to help and be available to others but you need to acknowledge your body, mind and spirit enough to be able to say, "not now."  "I would love to help you, but I just can't at the moment", or "I'm sorry but I don't think I can help you."

O.K. who was sweating just reading that sentence.  Who read that last sentence and thought "I could never say that!"  Well guess what.  Saying no isn't mean.  Honoring yourself isn't selfish.  Today's quote is, "Establishing boundaries is a necessary action to take for those who don't bask in your energy but monopolize it."  

When your aura sparkles and shines, it is palpable.  Who doesn't want to be around that!  Everyone that's who but it can be overwhelming.  

It is wonderful to share your love and support but not to the point where you are depleted.  Boundaries are there as protection from the ones that simply can't keep their distance.  Remember, putting boundaries in place is not mean.  Endless taking is.

GROWING PAINS -

Good morning, everyone and happy Tuesday.  OMG!  When is it going to happen for me?  Have you thought that lately?  Have you had a conversation with yourself about how hard you've been working towards your goal and why the F has it not shown up?  

We want things fast, quick and yesterday.  We want ease and an easy flow but in life that isn't always the way.  You may need to work on some things before you get to where you think you want to be and let me be the first (or millionth) one to tell you it's not going to be easy.

Today's quote is, "You want comfort, convenience and ease but embrace the discomfort - it is in the discomfort that your greatest growth will occur."  This might not be something you want to hear but I think deep down it is something you know.   

We learn from experience.  We grow from what we learned. Our understanding becomes clearer and only then can we make any forward motion.  We all want things to be easy but embrace every emotion and feeling you might be going through.  It is only then that your greatest growth will occur.

THE FEELING IS MUTUAL

Good morning, everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Don't you love when you meet someone who gets you.  Who really understands you.  Someone you can laugh with, cry with or not utter a single word.  When even in silence the understanding is mutual.  

Today's quote is, "Feel the vibe - find your tribe."  There are all kinds of people in this world but not every one of them is going to be your friend or confidant.  Most will be acquaintances.  They will be co-workers, neighbors, the fish monger at your local grocery store and countless others but not necessarily the ones you hold near and dear to your heart.

Know that there is no set amount that constitutes a tribe.  They are the ones you truly and deeply resonate with which could be one, two or ten.  The important thing is the magnetic connection that happens when you jive with those of like minds.

EMBRACED IN AN EMBRACE

Good morning.  Happy Tuesday.  Why do people ask little kids what they want to be when they grow up?  It's the thing to do, right?  A conversation starter between an adult and a five-year-old.  Would they even know what you're talking about?  And what is this nonsense about growing up?! We should always be growing!

As you gain more wisdom, you understand that it isn't what you do for your work/job that should make the most difference.  Today's quote is, "Be the embodiment of love or as close to it as you can get."  That is where we should all be going.  In the direction of love.  To love another being.  To love yourself.  

To be so full of love that you radiate.  When you care, you love.  Love is not just reserved for Reiki practitioners and healers.  Love is not reserved for a chosen few.

Let love be the energy you emit.  Love is there for all.

TIME IS....

Good morning, all.  Happy Thursday. Do you know how many songs have been written about time?  I honestly have no idea, but I image tons and tons!  Each and every one of us has a different viewpoint on what time means to us.  

Today's quote is. "Time is precious money limited limitless valuable endless."  I'm sure there are more adjectives you can add to the sentence. Think about it.  What is time to you?  I believe I covered what time is to me.  Time is definitely precious.  When we are having fun, we never want the time to end.  Time is money.  Who wants to work for free?

Time is limited.  All good things come to an end.  Time is limitless.  No rush, there is plenty of time.  Time is valuable.  You can't buy time.  It's just not possible.  Time is endless.  Remember my description of my day job?  

One word can have so many different meanings.  Isn't that wonderful?  We can take away what we don't want and add what we do!  As the saying goes, take what you need and leave the rest!

GOING AND FLOWING

Good morning, everyone and happy Tuesday.  Most of us like being in control.   We like to know the details.  Where, when, why and how.  Trust doesn't come as easily especially when we want something to happen.  The "what ifs" draw us in every time.  What if....!?! I'm sure you can fill in the blank.

Today's quote is, "A river's direction will never change but whatever it carries will land safely where it is meant to."  Thinking about past events in your life, haven't they always worked out for the best?  Recalling what didn't work out the way you had hoped, but didn't, left you to breathe a sigh of relief!    

Life is good that way.  There is always a force that has your back.  The Universe, a higher power, God, whoever you feel close enough to, that's who is looking out for you. Think of either of those things as a river that is carrying you safely to where you are meant to be.

You may stumble now and again but have faith that you will always land on your feet.

STEP BY STEP

Good morning, all!  Happy Tuesday.  Nothing we do is without thought whether consciously or subconsciously.  Occasionally we move backwards and sideways knowing that the goal is for forward motion.  

Today's quote is, "Everything you are doing is preparing you for the next step."  Our minds tell us we aren't successful because we aren't "there" yet, wherever there may be.  We forget that things take time.  We forget the meaning of the word process.

We forget that we need to start with A before getting to B.  I'll let you in on a little secret.  I'm guilty of that as well.  I get impatient.  Very impatient!  But then I think back to where I was a year ago, six months ago and even yesterday.  That's right.  One day can make a difference for you.

Understand that nothing you do is a waste of time or effort and that everything you are doing is preparing you for the next step.

TRUST AND BELIEVE

Good morning, everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Why is it that we can be so filled with doubt.  Why is it that we can be so sure that nothing will ever work out.  Why is it that we go to the very bottom without thinking there is even a remote possibility that everything will be great.  

It's as though we have been programmed to know we will fail rather than believe we will soar.  I have been told that I am a very positive person.  I can say wholeheartedly that I am, but it has taken lots of reprogramming!

My job is to help you reset your wheels!  Today's quote is, "The time has come for you to believe."  Stop going to that negative hole in your mind.  The more you go there the wider it gets.  Let go of past beliefs.  You are not that person anymore!

Release the past as difficult as it may be because now is where you are!  Now is the time for you to believe.  If I could do it, you can too!

CONCENTRATE ON NOW - Tuesday, 11/15

Good morning, everyone and happy Tuesday.  When running competitively, (something I have never done) I imagine that the runner is highly focused on each step in the present moment.  We need to be like competitive runners focusing on the now and not what happens at the finish line!

Today's quote is, "Let go of end results when you are just beginning."  We love to see an end result from the fruits of our labor but when just beginning anything, enjoy the process.  I know that might be hard to hear when immediate results are what we want but again I repeat, enjoy the process as arduous and long as it might be.

Living in the computer age has put the world at our fingertips.  We are so used to hearing the news the moment it happens, sending emails and texts as soon as we have a thought, but we forget that there are things that take time and just don't happen right away.  

Things happen when they are meant to and not necessarily when we think they should.  If you are working on something, (again, whatever that something may be) focus on the here and now.  Enjoy every step of the way because at some point it will be over and the results you have been waiting for will be right in front of you.

HELP SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE

Good morning, everyone.  Happy Thursday.  No man is an island.  Heard that one before?  It's funny when we grow up hearing certain phrases and not having any idea what they mean until the moment when we know exactly what they mean.

Most of us grow up wanting to be independent and that's great!  Living this life in our current body is new and therefore many experiences are also new.  How do we handle everything?   We all daydream about living on that beautiful island filled with palm trees and pineapples but what if you can't reach those pineapples by yourself?  Bummer.  Back to the previous phrase.

Today's quote is, "With support we rise we conquer we succeed."  Why are we so afraid and reluctant to ask for help?  Some of us feel that asking for help shows weakness but I feel that asking for help shows strength.  We can't possibly know it all and when we pretend that we do, it can backfire.

You don't like the word help?  Then use the word support or aid or assistance or guidance.  Just ask for it because with support we rise, we conquer, and we succeed because no man is an island!

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Your dream job.  Wow, that's a tough one, or is it?  A while back I had a quote about our imagination and just how limitless it can be.  In that limitlessness (I am so happy that's an actual word) we can create the life we want because it starts with imagination!

Today's quote is, "We all have dreams - your job is simple - make them come true."  Throwing caution to the wind is one way while careful planning is another.  We all have our own way of doing things, so it doesn't matter which one you choose, as long as you get the job done!

Change can be so many things from scary to welcoming which is why not everyone jumps into another situation with both feet.  In your heart you will know when you've had enough and when what seemed to be the hardest task you have ever had to do, you will do the job of making all of your dreams be your new reality!

I CHOOSE ME

Good morning, everyone and happy Thursday.  Let me start by saying I love my children dearly!  I really do.  Hang on a second.  That's before I find wet towels on the floor, an upturned nose at dinner and an aggravated sigh if I ask too many questions.  Well, I do still love them but sometimes I need to walk away and breathe!

Today's quote is, "Today I choose to please myself."  This quote is not just for me.  It's for you too!  AND not just if you are a mom or dad or caretaker of any sort.  Sometimes we need to put ourselves first.  Sometimes we need to take a breath and say, "see ya later!"  

Choosing to place yourself at the head of the line allows you to think clearly and to recharge especially when there are others in your life who need and love you, even if they do throw wet towels on the floor!

CAUGHT IN ANGER

Good morning, everyone, happy Tuesday.  In the gamut of emotions of which there are so so many, what is the feeling you like least?  We know the good ones.  We can skip around in happiness and elation for days on end, but we can also wallow in sadness, numb ourselves in grief and fume in anger.  

Sadness eventually dissipates.  It's difficult to say when it comes to grief.  That could last a very long time.  Anger is a beast all its own.  Anger can be focused on both us and others.  It can shoot out in all directions.  We can see it in others without them ever uttering a word.  The same goes for us.  When we are seething in anger, it virtually drips from our pores.  

Today's quote is, "Anger is a trap and a web we fall into - maintain your dignity - hold onto your integrity and step over and away from the trap."  Arguing with anyone is pointless.  People argue to prove that their point of view is not just the right one but the only one.  If you aren't persuasive enough in your delivery guess what happens.  There is anger on both sides.  SHOCKING!

There are plenty of things that make us angry, but I prefer to be angry at myself for something I did rather than take out my anger at the world around me.  Some people thrive on that behavior, but I don't think they are very popular.  

Anger is both a trap and a web.  A trap will hurt you and a web is hard to break free from.  Take a breath. Take a walk.  Step over and away from anger.

JUDGE NOT

Good morning, everyone and happy Thursday.  What a judgmental bunch we can be!   We are experts at forming opinions based on nothing except what our minds tell us to, and our minds can tell us some crazy stuff.  The moral of this story is don't believe everything you only think you know!  

Today's quote is, "Before you judge know there is a soul beneath the surface."  Beauty is only skin deep, right?  Yet we constantly make decisions based on looks and not just physical appearance.  We make these judgements based on where a person lives, what their house looks like, where they work....  I could go on and on.  What do all these things have in common?  Superficiality!  That's what.

Just because the sun is shining outside doesn't mean someone isn't living in their own personal storm.  Be gentle with the ones you think who have it all.  What is having it all anyway?  It is a made-up phrase that conjures up false desires.  

We are all here living our lives wanting the same things.  To be happy, to be productive, to be loved and to love.  Remember the last one.  We are here to love!

YOUR INNER THERAPIST

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  When it comes to the behaviors of others, we all become therapists delving deep into the psyche of people we don't even know.  There usually are reasons why people act the way they do.  Understanding is one thing.  Acceptance is another.

Today's quote is, "Analysis of bad behavior leads to understanding but there is no need to accept it."  We all have our stuff.  Each and every one of us.  Life can be kind to some and cruel to others.  We hear of someone's misfortune or bad upbringing which can lead to unacceptable behavior, yet we are capable of making excuses for being treated poorly when it is by someone we care about.  

No, no no!  In case you don't know, that's called enabling.  Once you enable bad behavior and unacceptable treatment, don't expect it to stop.  No matter how much you care for someone whether it is a friend, spouse or parent, continue to support them but never ever accept bad behavior.

THE ROAD OF LIFE

Good morning and happy Thursday.  Don't you just love the feeling of driving a car on a newly paved road?!  Sure, beats dodging around potholes.  

Life is like that sometimes.  One minute we are gliding along, and life is perfection! Then in a flash we find ourselves sinking into pit unable to get out or know what to do.  It's hard not to get discouraged but know that you won't be stuck for long.

Today's quote is, "We all experience set-backs but don't allow them to set you back."  Is that easier said than done?  Of course it is but when you are faced with a set-back and a disappointment, don't give up and don't give in.  These things are only temporary.  

Maybe the message is let go and rest.  There are times when things are completely out of our control and there is nothing we can do so do just that.  

Of course, we prefer sunshine to rain and calm to a storm but embrace whatever comes your way.  If it weren't for a storm, we might never see a rainbow.

KNOW FROM WHERE IT COMES

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Ahhh advice!  We love to give it.  We don't always love to get it.  If you want advice, my recommendation is to ask the right person and only you would know who that is.  

Today's quote it, "Damaged people give damaged advice."  When you ask a damaged person for advice, the advice they give will most assuredly reflect their life.  When trauma of any kind is buried or ignored rather than dealt with, damage will remain.

We all know people like that.  That may even be us.  Think about yourself before you confronted your own demons.  Would you want to advise someone pre-therapy or pre-Reiki?  If someone we care about asked us for advice, I would want that advice to be free from the burdens of any emotional baggage and I imagine you would too!

YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO GET THERE

Good morning.   Happy Thursday everyone.  I was one of the millions of people who jumped for joy when the GPS came into being.   I love listening to that lovely woman telling me to turn left or right and getting me exactly where I need to be.  Previous to that ingenious invention was a map and a compass, neither of which aided me the tiniest little bit. 

In life, even the most sophisticated GPS can't help you.  It is when you need to rely on instinct and feeling.  Today's quote is, "A compass won't help you unless you know how to use it - navigate with your heart - you already know how it works."

We ask ourselves questions all the time.  Many times, we can use google to find answers, other times all we need to do is close our eyes and look within.  Trust yourself.  Trust your inner wisdom and always always rely on your heart for it will guide you in the right direction.

CHOOSING HAPPINESS

 Good morning and happy Tuesday.  Lately a whole lot of emphasis has been placed on personal happiness.  Ten or twenty years ago no one cared if you were happy or miserable.  Your feelings were yours and usually kept under wraps.  Bad day at work?  Keep it to yourself.  Home life not so great?  That's your business.  It was as though choosing something so luxurious as happiness was a selfish thing to do.

Alas we discovered that when we are happy so are all those near and dear to us!  Today's quote is, "In choosing happiness for yourself those around you will also reap the rewards."  Sounds like a V8 moment.  Something so obviously simple was never regarded until we realized that happiness is necessary for our health and well-being.  

We feel the vibes of those around us and when we sense bad vibes we react accordingly.  Choose yourself.  Allow yourself to be number one because when you do, those vibes reach way beyond you and everyone near you will feel them too!

ONLY CLOWNS JUGGLE

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  When did life get so busy?  I blame it on technology.  While advancements in our world including technology made our lives easier in many ways it also made it harder.  We are accessible twenty-four hours a day.  If you don't believe me, go on Facebook at 3:00 in the morning or go to your email and I bet a nocturnal being sent you something.  

When daylight comes and we see those emails we often wonder if anyone ever sleeps but it also makes us feel as though we better start our day no matter what time it is OR we better make sure our day doesn't end too early.  

When my dad came home from work, his day was done.  He would walk up the stairs, hang up his coat and get ready for dinner.  After dinner it was time for relaxing.  Email didn't exist nor did work after work.  Those days are long gone.  We seem to be working harder and longer than ever BUT a few of us have noticed that keeping up that kind of pace is draining and what we really need is a work/life balance.

Today's quote is, "Leave the juggling to the clowns - life is not a juggle but a balance."  We need to work, and we need to play.  We need to pay our bills and we need to dip our toes in the sand.  All work and no play make us bitter, angry, resentful and plain old tired.  We are not performance animals.  We are human beings in need of proper balance in our lives so that we cannot just exist but really and truly live!

THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

 Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday.  Everyone has goals.  Everyone!   A goal could be as simple as waking up an hour earlier every day to running a 5K.  Running a 5K for me would be really hard.  I hate running.  Waking up an hour earlier is an attainable goal for me because I am a morning person.  

Today's quote is, "Asking the impossible of yourself will give you disappointing results."  It's ok to dream big but setting impossible goals for yourself is setting yourself up for failure.  We know our capabilities yet sometimes we really need a push.  Just make sure that push is in the right direction and not in oncoming traffic. 

Continue the hard work.  Keep setting goals.  Let go of the impossible, you will only be disappointed.

JUSTIFYING WHAT CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED

 Good morning, everyone and happy Thursday.  Have you ever noticed how some people can see the best in everyone no matter what?  My dad is like that.  He's been blessed with a loving heart that allows him to see and look beyond one's actions no matter what the outcome of those actions might have been.  

Is that a good thing?  I'm not so sure.  When continuously overlooking things that cause harm to others via words or actions is that good natured person truly good or simply an enabler?

Today's quote is, "There is no justification for unjustifiable behavior."  Meanness and cruelty should never be tolerated.  There is absolutely no excuse for causing intentional harm toward anyone.  I wish I had the courage to tell that to the ex-principal where I used to work but I will allow Karma to step in.

If there is someone in your life that derives pleasure from hurting others, have the courage to tell them it's not OK.  A loving heart is a wonderful thing to have but that heart should never justify unjustifiable behavior.

OUR VAST IMAGINATION

Good morning, everyone and happy Thursday. Daydreaming is just as important as night dreaming!  A daydream could be something simple like wishing you were at a beach instead of in a boring meeting, but daydreaming serves a purpose as well.   It is also when our creative juices flow and ideas begin to hatch.  

Today's quote is, "Our imagination has a vastness beyond our comprehension - it is up to you to decide when to make it happen."  I had thought about changing the last word to make it real instead of making it happen but then I realized making things happen is what we want.  We want to change those dreams from being only dreams to a reality we can see and be an active participant in.

We spend a great deal of time imagining all sorts of things.  Never stop imagining but most importantly never limit yourself.  The sky is the limit but when it comes to your imagination, you are limitless.  Keep dreaming, keep imagining and one day you will be living that dream.

INTERPRETING LANGUAGE

Good morning and happy Thursday.  Words are the basis of language.  Words are our primary mode of communication whether they are written, spoken or signed.  Words can also be twisted and mangled in ways that confuse us and leave us wondering what was actually said and what was actually meant.

Today's quote is, "The wisdom of words lies in your interpretation."  Words can be descriptive and enticing.  They can tell you a story and an opinion.  They can leave you feeling empowered or baffled.  Ironically words can even leave you speechless!

Two people can listen to the same speech, read the same article and watch the same movie but have a completely different understanding of what they heard, read and saw.  Humans have the ability to think. This gives us the ability to interpret things the way that makes sense.  Words are the way you hear them and read them.  It is all in your interpretation.

MAKE ROOM FOR MORE

Good morning, everyone.  Happy Thursday.  The range of emotions we allow ourselves to acknowledge is not as broad as one would think.  When we are truly happy and at peace do we stop, take a breath and say, "wow! life is really good!"  I can't speak for the world or whoever is reading this but if I were to venture a guess, I would say the answer is no we don't.  

We're inclined to like when our days and weeks run like a well-oiled machine, smooth with a minimum amount of noise.  Woefully we are bound to hit a pothole that takes the air completely out of our tires.

Today's quote is, "Disappointment happens - release that feeling to make room for something bigger and better."  We don't hold onto happiness but when disappointment arrives, we cling to it like a barnacle.  I truly believe (of course I do) that there is always something better than what you imagined for yourself if you only believed it.

No one likes to be disappointed.  We want Plan A, not Plan B BUT are you sure about that?  We can become so narrow in our thinking but that serves no one, especially us.  When you broaden your view, you might realize that what you were disappointed in wasn't meant to be and when you let that feeling go, watch out world, the best is yet to come!

I FEEL YA

Good morning and happy Thursday.  You know that feeling you get when someone is standing behind you?  You don't need eyes in the back of your head to know you are not alone.  You can feel a presence without actually having to see someone with your own eyes.  

What you feel will depend on who is wrapped in the flesh of that human body, and you will feel it immediately.  Today's quote is, "I feel you your vibe your curiosity your soul because together we flow." 

Everyone has a bad day and so a first-time meeting with anyone might deserve a second chance but in your heart of hearts you know if you want to hang with that person, if that human gets you, feels you or if you are both in your own Tower of Babble. 

Your vibe is audibly silent yet palpably felt.  Love at first sight!  I feel like I've known you my whole life! You're like a sister or a brother to me!  Those are the vibes that bring people together.  When you jive with a vibe, you know you've found your tribe!

THE STRENGTH TO KEEP GOING

 Good morning, everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Varied experiences both good and bad are woven into our lives.  The good stuff is welcomed with open arms.  Bring it on, we say.  Life is good until it's not.  Until something happens that takes our breath away and we are in a state of confusion.  Why me?  Why did this terrible thing happen to me?  No need to give examples.  I'm sure you remember these times well.  And yet you persevered. 

Today's quote is, "It is through pain we find out what we can endure."   Pain isn't fun.  It isn't a lesson.  It is a human experience shared by humans everywhere, yet it is through pain that we realize our strength.  A life devoid of pain is not reality.  A life lived in absolute bliss is reserved for monks and those on anti-depressants but even monks experience stress and those on medication become tired of not feeling.

Understandably we all prefer the good times to prevail over the bad but when they do, know that your inner strength will carry you through.

CRITERIA FOR CHANGE

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  There is one thing that can simultaneously cause both fear and anxiety but also joy and relief.  The reason for those mixed emotions is change.  Change is good.  It's also really hard.  Some take to it immediately while others ponder excruciatingly over the idea, however; pondering is the first step towards doing something that you haven't done before.

Today's quote is, "You have met the criteria for change - boredom frustration unhappiness - the rest is up to you."  Big changes or small ones can leave us feeling uncertain.  Should we cut our hair that's been worn the same way for the past ten years?  Should we try that side dish that looked so good on that cooking show?  Should we leave the comfort (and paycheck) of a job we despise?  Should we once and for all make that dream of ours a reality?

Only you know when you are ready for change.  Only you can decide if that dream should remain just a dream or if you should take that leap of faith and know that someone will be there to catch you on the other side.

Life is both long and short but so much longer if we live in boredom, frustration and unhappiness and we all know we all deserve better.

A PURPOSE FOR EVERYTHING

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Making a bed can seem like the most meaningless of chores. It's only going to be unmade several hours later but we make our beds because the room looks so much better.  Our days can be filled with seemingly meaningless activities, yet they hold their own importance.

Today's quote is, "Walk with purpose for purpose exists in everything."  We don't do anything without giving it just the tiniest bit of thought whether we are preparing dinner, doing laundry or answering an email.  Nothing is a waste of time even though you might think it is.

There is a purpose to all we do.  We prepare meals to feed and nourish our families and ourselves.  We do laundry so we don't face the world with ketchup stains.   Don't neglect those emails!  There is someone on the other end waiting patiently for your reply.

Purpose lies in everything you do so whatever it is, take pride and do it well.

SONGS THAT SPEAK TO YOU

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Our past is made up of more than the memories we hold in our minds but the memories in our senses as well.  There are scents so familiar they allow us to travel back in time.  Music has the same power over us.  Just a few notes can bring us back to a place we never wanted to leave or one we couldn't get out of fast enough.

Today's quote is, "Songs that speak to your soul bring tears laughter and comfort."  We prefer to remember the good times rather than the bad but it is all part of our life's journey.  A song can take us back to our first broken heart and our first true love.

When songs speak to your soul let them bring what they will whether it is laughter, tears or comfort.  If your soul is angry (just for the moment) choose one that will calm you down.  As they say, "music hath   charms to soothe the savage beast."

GETTING WHAT YOU NEED

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday.  How many times do we wish, hope and pray for all the things we think will make us happy while getting completely bent out of shape when things don't work out the way we wanted them to.  Perhaps a blessing in disguise!

Today's quote is, "When I asked the Universe to give me everything I wanted she gave me everything I needed."  We know what we want...or so we think.  There are those times when we are so definitive in our desires and then something happens.  What we were sure we wanted doesn't work out.  What we were desperate to have we didn't get.  

This is where trust comes in.  You trust your parents right?  Think of the Universe as another parent who is looking out for your best interests.  Think of the Universe watching over you and understanding that the person you think is Mr. Right is really Mr. Right now.  The Universe actually cringes at some of the decisions you made based on your immediate wants and desires.  

Ask and you shall receive.  Know that what you receive will be exactly what you need!

KEEP IT REAL

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  How great does it feel when you've parachuted into your dream job?  How wonderful is it to meet your soul mate?  On the flip side, how awful does it feel to be stuck, day after day in a miserable job only to come home to an equally miserable partner.  Which one is the life you were meant to live?

Today's quote is, "Fulfillment will never come from living an inauthentic life."  We don't always know what we want but we sure as hell know what we don't.  When we land in places we don't want to be we can't help but feel anxious and uncomfortable.  The reason that happens is because we got off at the wrong stop.  

There will be many stops along the road and when we get to the right one, we just know it.  When we are doing what we love it feels right.  When we are doing what we love we are fulfilled.  When we are doing what we love, we are living our authentic life.

THE RESPONSIBILITY IS ON YOU

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuessday.  Life is fabulous, wonderful, stressful, joyful, amazing, hard and scary.  If I left out a favorite adjective of yours, please feel free to fill it in.  Life goes on sometimes smoothly and sometimes like a rocky road.  There are times we have nothing to do with the events or situations we find ourselves in but there are also times where the outcome is a direct correlation of our actions.

Today's quote is, "In your life you've orchestrated successes and messes - acknowledge your part in both."  I officially retired from my day- job and I couldn't be happier, however; something happened months ago that really started me on this journey and let me tell you, it was a mess.  A big one.

We actively participate in our lives every day.  Should I have another cup of coffee this morning?  Should I pee AGAIN before I get in the car?  Should I take the shorter way to work?   Nothing life changing here but the ones that are indeed life changing are on us as well.  I had made a decision that radically changed my work environment and not for the better.  

I made a huge mess and I own it completely but the mess I made opened doors that would have remained shut had I stayed.  We are the conductor of our lives making sweet, beautiful music and hitting some rough notes as well.  In the end we are responsible for our choices and the kind of music we create!

THE SUM OF ALL PARTS

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Our blue eyes and brown eyes come from our parents.  So do our dimples, short stature and ability to tan or burn.  Passed down through generations are the things we cannot see.  Our abilities, fragilities and tenacity.  Every soul inhabits much more than the genes of our parents.

Today's quote is, "We are the sum of DNA from our parents our grandparents and all the souls of our ancestors."  You may not have met your great great great great great grandmother, but her influence remains.  Generation after generation passes on not just our physical attributes but those that are blind to the eye.  

While the struggle that many of them went through has thankfully been left behind what they have given us is an appreciation for the hardships and joys that befell them.  Your legacy will be more than what you leave your children as their mother and father but the entourage of all of your ancestors way before your time.

KNOWLEDGE DOES NOT EQUAL WISDOM

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  I used to love to read.  I went through an intense reading period taking frequent trips to the library (remember those?) to check out books on a variety of topics.  Life got busy, (you know how that goes) and the internet allowed you to research and read just about anything you could think of not making curbing my desire to return to the library.  

I read for two main reasons.  To be entertained and to learn.  While reading certainly enhances one's knowledge it does not give you wisdom.  Wisdom is an entirely different thing.

Today's quote is, "Having knowledge does not mean you have wisdom - one is gained from books while the other is gained through life and time and experience."  It's interesting to me how people of a certain age are no longer valued in the workplace and in our society in general when these are the people who have both knowledge and wisdom. 

Understand the difference between the two.  Having knowledge on a multitude of topics is easily gained and a wonderful addition to your existing repertoire.  Having wisdom takes time and years to acquire and cannot be found in any library.

AHHH BLISS

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Happiness, joy, contentment.  We are on a constant search for things that make us happy.  That right there is the biggest mistake of all.  Haven't we learned by now that things don't make us happy?  For the moment, maybe.  A shopping spree, an incredible meal, a fabulous trip.  Sure those are things that will make us happy but what happens when the moment is gone?

Today's quote is, "Awaken to your bliss no need to look for something that is there within you - slow down and you will find it."  The joys of life are varied. There is so much to learn, to see, to hear and to experience but if real bliss is what you are seeking, no need to travel far.  It is within you .  It is within each of us.  

Be curious and adventurous, but know that inner bliss is not a meal, a vacation or a new sweater.  It is something easily found because its always been there.  Slow down and you will find it.

EMBRACE LIFE NO MATTER WHAT

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  We all like to be comfortable.  Soft cotton over itchy wool?  Yes please.  70 degree days are the perfect compromise between too hot and too cold.  A mattress that isn't too hard or too soft.  Comfort is key to a smooth start and finish to our day.  As great as it sounds the redundancy and predictability can also be stifling.  Growth cannot take place in stagnation.

Today's quote is, "Exploration takes a willingness to accept and embrace fear challenges and anything else that brings discomfort to the surface."  Fear is an emotion that most of us can do without but sometimes fear is what we need to move forward.  We can be fearful of both staying and leaving our comfort zone.  Its up to us to decide which is worse.  

Change is hard.  It takes inner strength and a willingness to overcome all the emotions and feelings that come with it whether its introducing a new breakfast to our palate, wearing a color we never wore before or taking your life on a completely different course.   

The choice is and always will be yours.

A LOVING INFLUENCE

 Good morning, everyone and happy Thursday.  What we read and hear has a way of influencing us to do many different things from trying new restaurants, to seeing certain movies and reading certain books.  Everything from our style of dress to our political viewpoints can be influenced by many factors.  

The word, "influencer" has taken on a different meaning as of late.  It refers to the ones who are experts on everything from raising children, to losing weight, to putting on eyeliner.  All these experts can be found on Instagram and because we see the number of followers they have, well then, they must be credible!

I have years of experience putting on make-up, trying different diets and I'm happy to say my children made it (whew) through childhood without all these "influencers."  Not to say I cannot learn from someone else but what I value more is sharing kindness and love.

Today's quote is, "Love is the biggest influencer."  Allow your vulnerability to shine through.  Let your heart be open.  Kindness and love are such an easy thing to share.  Let love be the biggest influencer in all that you do.

ATTRACTION OF THE SHINY PENNY

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  What draws you to something.  What is it that grabs you and makes it hard for you to pull away?  It could be anything.  Anything at all.  There are careers that appear to be glamorous but the day to day job is just that....a job.

There are people who seem so interesting and magnetic until the conversation is all about them.  Life is filled with illusion.  It is up to us to find what resonates with our sensibilities.

Today's quote is, "The shiny penny attracts you but find what makes you stay."  We are drawn to the light and the sun and all that shines but too much sun will leave us burned.  As humans we are attracted to what is attractive but don't just look at the surface.  Check out every angle to make sure that whatever you want doesn't lose its shine.

REBEL AGAINST THE NORM

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Finally, finally, finally, my time is really and truly my own.  I can get up when I want, make a nice breakfast and run my day however I please. It is now up to me whether to walk with Mia for an hour or fifteen minutes.  Well, actually it's up to her!  

My ex- place of employment would have me sitting for fifty- five -minute blocks of time, several times a day.  I found that to be excruciatingly boring, but such is the way it is in school.  If I was feeling that way just imagine how kids feel.  

The ones that were too fidgety were misdiagnosed with ADD faster than you could say what ADD means.  I don't have Dr. in front of my name but if anyone asked me, my diagnosis for so many of these kids would be boredom, treatable by moving around!

Today's quote is, "A rebel soul knows when to move for they cannot be still."  Schools are filled with rebel souls aching to do what they want and to learn the way they want.  School the way it is forces those rebel souls to daydream, to disregard the person in the front of the room and to appear as though they have an itch that cannot be relieved.

Sitting still is tortuous for these poor souls who bodies and minds need to roam free.  Sure, there are times we need to be still and to sit but if you come across a rebel soul understand their need to move is who they are.

TO FEEL OR NOT TO FEEL

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  To feel or not to feel.  That is the question.  Either one is still a feeling.

Today's quote is, "Feeling nothing is still feeling something."  Without using the word "feeling," I would say this is an interesting sentence.  Many of my quotes come to me from personal experience and this is one of them.  Years and years went by where situations made me angry, sad, frustrated, (feel free to add an emotion!) you get the gist.  Then one day like magic, all those negative emotions stopped.  

I no longer felt sad, angry, frustrated, etc. nor did I feel happy, elated or ecstatic.  I felt zero.  Nothing.  Is that good?  Is it bad?  Feeling nothing as opposed to feeling something can be great.  Not that its great to have no emotion.  What is great is to have no response to negativity and that is why feeling nothing is not entirely bad. 

That nothing that you are feeling is helping you manage the world around you and not drag the past into the forefront of your everyday life.  If pain from the past arises on a daily basis, then freedom from that pain is both preferable and beneficial.

To feel or not to feel will always be entirely up to you.  Whichever one you choose will be right.

UNECESSARY HEARTACHE - Thursday, 6/23

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday.  Have you ever intentionally caused harm to someone.  Have words ever come out of your mouth that you immediately wished you hadn't said?  Emotions often make us do and say things that bewilder us. 

If for a moment we stopped and took a breath we can prevent harm from reaching its target but when we don't care about the results its more about us than the intended victim.  Today's quote is, "Knowingly causing pain and suffering upon anyone is the ego unwilling to relinquish control."  

There is a problem when the importance of having the last word is more important than the feelings of someone else.  I find it baffling how easily and naturally this behavior comes to some people.  When there is a miscommunication or problem between people, a conversation is all that is needed.

Causing unnecessary pain and anguish is no longer the voice of a caring human being but a self-centered ego.

POISONOUS WORDS

Good morning everyone.  Happy Tuesday.  Who doesn't love a good story.  Especially ones that start with the sentence, "did you hear...." It could be something about a person on the big screen, the little screen or one in our very own contact list.  I like hearing good things about people whether I know them or not but how easy is it to get sucked into that conversation of contempt for someone we never met and one who could be our supposed bestie.

Today's quote is, "Gossip will pull you into a vortex of judgment and ridicule of others as there is no such thing as an innocent bystander."   One is either repelled or pulled in by gossip.  It can be alluring and inviting however gossip by its very nature is based on what you have read somewhere or heard from someone without any basis for truth.

To malign someone you don't know is ridiculous.  To malign someone you know is mean.  What you hear may or may not be true.  Don't give in to malicious conversation.  The one you are gossiping about could be doing the very same thing to you.

FIX THE PROBLEM

Good morning everyone.  Happy Thursday.  Talking about your problems to a friend does one of two things or both.  It can help you because you can blow off steam, however; if done too often, can make that friend want to run for the metaphorical hills.  Truth bomb.  No one wants to listen to anyone's problems over and over again.  

If you are hurting in any way, shape or form it is up to you to fix it.  Today's quote is, "Healing can only happen with one hundred percent of your participation."  Cars don't drive themselves.  Well some do but I still recommend being in the driver's seat to avoid a crash.  When you feel as though you are headed straight for a wall there is only one person to rely on and that person is you.

We are the ones who need to take charge of ourselves, every aspect of our lives and how we live those lives.  How we choose to heal is a matter to take into our own hands as well but can only happen if we are fully vested.  Can you still vent to your bff?  Of course you can but the responsibility of healing is yours and yours alone.
